Got a 7 shot tube from SOCOMguy installed and in looking at an extended mag spring and I am wondering what the difference is on a 12ga spring direct from Wolff vs the special ones that FFT that they say is made by Wolff that is selling for 5x the price of a Wolff standard XP spring. I cannot see what the big difference is for the extra money. A mag tube spring is not really rocket science. For the cost I think I will try the one from Wolff. Anyone else do the same?
I don't feel its necessary for the staking. It was probably some military requirement that wasn't actually needed from LPA. The pin's fit is tight, so there isn't much risk of it coming out on its own.
If you use a brass hammer or punch, it should prevent you from marring the NP3 finish.
It would be safe to say that removal of that pin is my least favorite part of tearing down an M4. Followed closely by the bolt extractor claw's pin.
I did my own with a soldering iron. Found a set of oem handguards on GunBroker for $30ish. Might not be quite as good as tango arms but they tired out nice enough.
