  1. Any slug designed for use in a smoothbore shotgun will work fine. You should use either the Cylinder or Imp. Cylinder choke tube. There's a fair amount of buzz about the new Federal Truball slugs for smoothbores. If I were relegated to having to shoot slugs (cringe), I'd look at them first.
  2. Instead of fully ejecting, the spent shell is left sticking out of the receiver at an angle, with smoke coming out of it, like a stovepipe.
  3. Do you own any other matte black finished guns? In my opinion, they are more subject to serious corrosion issues than are blued finishes. The elegant fact is that rust is a simple chemical process borught on by the combination of moisture and oxygen. Surface rust can occur within minutes, but the only way a finish can rust to the point that it's a problem is if the gun goes for an extended period without proper cleaning and lubrication. The grease can also trap moisutre between itself and the finish if the surface isn't properly cleaned before it is applied. This can actually expedite corrosion.
  4. Any gun will rust if not properly cared for. I would answer in this way. If you treat the Nova the same way you did the 870, then it will rust. Matte black finishes are somwhat porous and the uneven surfaces trap protective oils or they trap moisture... your choice. Use Hoppes Elite, BreakFree, or any other quality CLP and you won't have a problem. Fail to care for the finish and it will definitely rust.
  5. It's been proven over and over. Given the opportunity to do so, Benelli CS can shine brightly
  6. AaronE, who said anything about the light stuff? drcam, I'm thinking that auto-regulating means that there is no need for user adjustability. You know, like "auto-regulating". Did you switch back to other loads and not experience problems? If so, the answer seems simple enough... don't shoot the Winchesters. How many rounds are you firing between cleanings? The R1 is not a mil spec rifle, and it requires some TLC to perform properly. it's not designed to fast cycle clip after clip, and it's not designed to shoot box after box of ammo with no care.
  7. uh oh.... Here it comes.
  8. You painted the pic on two canvases. Go back to the Stoeger forum for your answer.
  9. No offense. Nothing personal. But if you can't figure out the simple mechanics of the limiter plug, or even be sure that you still have one installed, then you should take the gun to a professional. At the very least have a more experienced friend take a look. [ 10-07-2006, 10:36 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]
  10. The Benelli Italian site also has PDF's of most models online at http://www.benelli.it/Articoli/Download.asp?Type=SPL They are a bit more refined and detailed. Use the Nova tactical manual, as the regular Nova manual appears to be missing.
  11. Glad to help. Good luck this season!
  12. I think it was around $1,300 at Gander Mtn. in the Fall of '04. Synthetic Black - 26".
  13. That new remington semi-auto loads and ejects via the bottom, but it costs as much as an SBEII. But, next year, after no one's bought them, they should be cheaper Billy Bud, Seriously. The BPS is about as well as you're going to do for that kind of change.
  14. A friend asked me if I wanted a frozen banana. I told him no. But then I realized I might want a regular banana later on, so I told him yes.
  15. It's out of your budget, but my LH SBEII is the best friggin shotgun I've ever had. Poured water out of it today and dumped a pair of greenwings to top off my limit. I think I'll hang it up on the mantle for a few weeks before I clean and lube it. NOT!
  16. You need to try different loads with the R1. There seems to be no real consistent theme from rifle to rifle. [ 10-06-2006, 03:21 AM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

  18. Did that joke just miss everyone? I know I'm older,but ????
  19. If you're not going to use a sling, then just make one out of a piece of steel or even aluminum plate.
  20. Is there anything about it that makes you think it was made by Benelli?
  21. You need a swivel plate.
  22. Here are a few video pointers from Tom Knapp on using the EasyHit sighting system. Eye Dominance Keeping Both Eyes Opened Keeping Your Head Down Proper Form on the Skeet Field These videos are ripped from a DVD I received with my new EasyHit. Admin., if there's a problem posting these, let me know and I'll remove the links and the hosted files.
  23. The I-12 had some problems the first year out, but I've heard nothing but good things about this year's crop. ANY Inertia gun is going to stay cleaner and be easier to maintain. That translates into more time spent shooting and less time spent cleaning. I have found that my SBEII functions well with very little lubrication. I'd expect the same of the I-12. Without the excess oils, the gun will attract less dirt and retain less fouling. A lot of 11-87's out there, and most owners are happy with them. Remington has a new model out, and I've heard nothing but praise for the Baikal / Remington gun. For a hard knocks gun, it gets great reviews as well.

    Unloading

Unload by cycling the rounds through the action. Muzzle in a safe direction - safety ON. The release is very difficult on most Benellis.
