  1. Ebay assigns item numbers.
  2. Few forums have a BS filter that works. There is a lot of good information at shotgunworld, just as there is sometimes some bad information here. The worst place is Arfcom, with all of those Dugganesque types over there.
  3. I was wondering if that was you. Now I know. You shoulda seen us Saturday AM. That was interesting. Did you get the router going OK?
  4. With a shotgun, your eye is the rear sight. The mid bead does indeed assist with proper cheek weld and helps prevent canting. I've found that the less I look at the bead the better. Shoot instinctively, focusing on the target, not the sights.

    camo finish

Bead blasting would take it down to metal. It could then be finished with Durakote or similar.
  6. Glad to help! You may also want to tear down the stock and remove and clean the recoil spring assembly. It's not covered in my guide, but it has been discussed here many times. Make sure that the hole in the bolt that the firing pin goes through is thoroughly cleaned. A buildup of dirt in there can cause the firing pin to not strike the primers fully or with ample force for ignition. Also, if you're hunting in sub-freezing temps, use a quality synthetic lube that will not gum up in colder temps. I like Hoppes Elite, but there are other good ones. Most here advise against using Rem-oil on anything other perhaps squeaky door hinges.
  7. Mall geese always seem to have bands and neck collars.
  8. Weaver 93A is the pattern. You're not obligated to buy mounts by Weaver. Other companies make mounts to the same pattern. Warne makes a much better product than does Weaver. http://www.warnescopemounts.com/scopemount_chart.html
  9. If you have not disassembled the bolt assembly and cleaned the components, then that is most likely the problem. Schematics are available in PDF on the Benelli Italy website. Choose support, spare parts. http://www.benelli.it/Index.asp?Lan=EN My SBEII cleaning guide may also be of some help to you.
  10. No. I have a few more.
  11. Very nice! For a second there, I thought you had Mini Me with you. Jackson looks like he's got the fever. Our day was spent in the poor execution of a good plan. We brushed up Sean's boat with cedars and restrung all of our diver blocks with 15' of line. The plan was to make a portable open water rig. Unfortunately, the 25-40 mph winds made it impossible to anchor up anywhere in the open and we spent most of the day sailing the flats. I told Sean that he should consider entering the Americas Cup next go 'round. We didn't shoot single duck, but saw some cans and bluebills. Some would call it a bad day, but not me. It beat sitting at home. It beat deer hunting. And we learned some things. That's a good day.
  12. We saw you pulling in this afternoon. How did it go at the coast?
  13. A better shot of my Canvasback from the other day (last year). We saw some more today, but no good shots on them. trying again tomorrow. And today's band from a hen ringneck. This is the first banded diver I've ever shot.
  14. My little hen ringneck flew 1070 miles to bring me this today.

    A little help

No measurements, but some pretty good pics here http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=151568959 and here http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=151800912

  18. Great pics! I'll take you up on that. I'll see how the workload looks early next week and maybe we can get together sometime soon. Chris said you've had a couple of "chummers" out this year. I need to get my Scopace Rx refilled before I go.
  19. The Benellis aren't noted for their finish durability, especially on the black matte finishes. Last road trip I took, I tore mine down and cleaned it every night of the hunt. It only takes about 10 minutes and it could save a good deal of heartache. If mine ever gets in too bad of shape I'm going to have it dipped in camo.
  20. Thanks, flatsspy. You weren't watching us through that telescope, were you? I hear you've been tearing up the salt water pretty good as well. We don't get enough pictures of that kind of thing here, so please post more if you have them. I'd love to try that one of these days. If you ever have a slot opened, I'd be glad to fill it. Not a clue what I'm doing on something like that, but that's not going to stop me from trying.
  21. http://duracoatinc.com/?uid=16588&page=3720 http://www.camoent.com/index.htm There are others, including Gander Mtn.
  22. .....of Canvasbacks! To see 100 or so these working a big open water spread is the stuff of which dreams are made! I don't care if I don't shoot the gun any more this year! Mine is second from the left.
  23. Steel is steel. The price of the assembly and design has no bearing on its ability to resist corrosion. I've had mine for six seasons now and have seen no rust. It's just a matter of proper care.
  24. I never store a gun in a case of any kind. The case could have contained ambient moisture that became trapped inside. There can also be condensation buildup inside the case during transport, especially if flying or going from one climate to another. Depending on how much moisture it was exposed to in Alaska, there could have been latent moisture in the gun's receiver and barrel as well. Wiping off the fingerprints won't get rid of that, and it's going to "sweat" while inside that plastic coffin. Sorry it happened, but a seasoned gun owner such as yourself should have known better that to leave it inside that plastic case. The case is made for transport, not storage.
  25. Tom Knapp recommends the Easy Hit sight for such cases. I agree with Tom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEh1AhvJAXU
