  1. Oo-rah. .....now to safegaurd all our (human) other rights.
  2. johnnywitt, you do not have to cut the recoil spring (located in the tube extending rearward of the reciver, suporting the stock), only the mag tube spring. This is needed or the mag spring will set upon itself (rigid) before you can load four shells. Springs are cheep, it is not something to concern yourself with. The collar ring is not needed (IMO) on the shorter barrels. The bolt locks into the barrel extensionion and provides safe function. On longer barrels, the collar provides stabilty betwen the mag tube and pipe. On a 10.5 inch barrel the handgaurd retaining ring serves the same purpose. I did put a nitrol (sp?) O ring in the gap between the magtube and handgaurd ring (this gap was left by benelli to allow the +2 extension or fake mag extension to remain on the mag tube when the barrel is removed.) When you get to production send me a message and I will provide you with mesured drawings (ha ha kidding) but I can give you the lengths and mesurments that worked for me. regards, d
  3. i am reading over this again and I am sorry about thr spelling and mistypes. My left hand and right forearm are in casts or supports, and I am on advill. regards, d
  4. Check the benelli.it site. The rubber "grip insert" can be ordered from brownells or midway (it is the same as the m1 tac/police) the roll pin can be picked up at the hardware store. The threaded insert that mount the grip to the receiver, ay, there is the rub.
  5. I purchesed a barrel from e-gunparts, and an extra spring. Following BATFE guideline, I registered the serial number of the receiver and marked the barrel with name and location of maker (me.) This negates the need to mark the receiver and also alows you to use the factory full tube (with 18" barrel and nine round capacity) without violating 922whtever (this is not a post about the legality of the "sporting arms law" so there is no need to discuss it here.) cutting the barrel can be done with a pipe cuter, hack saw or by a shop. e-gunparts also sells an aftermarket mag tube. This can be cut to length in the garage, but benelli uses a square threading that can not be reproduced in the average home shop (it is not threaded with a die but on a lathe with a jig and a multi-facted thread cutter.) After trimming the mag spring (trial and error, little at a time) I can load four 2.75 shells in the tube, one in the pipe and one on the carrier. The blast is what you might expect but the kick is not bag (2.75 D.N. Rottwiels slugs one handed no prob) My next project is to thread the exteriour end of the barrel (the wall thickness at 10.5" precludes internal threading....maybe check w/ briley) and attach a muzzel break/stand off device (like tromax or royal) with a stepped ring (or mag tube collar) that would index with the mag tube and be of length to allow the standard 14" mag tube to be used and retain the barrel in the receiver. This would transform the benelli m4 into a very compact sbs w/6 rnd cap. A sbs/ door breacher w/ 7rnd cap, and a combat scatter gun with 9rnd cap. After that I will try to figure out how to attach it underneath my S.E. Crazyhorse. Then when I am board with that, maybe I will paint it or manufacture a sonic distance-responsive atomatic adjusting choke or something. I dunno, I also have to mow the lawn. here is an attempt to replicate a factory looking VFG incorperating a pressure switch. It needs some trim and finish, but I am pleased.
  6. I have only used the short barrel with 00 and slugs and it works fine.
  7. I could not find it. but here is a picture of mine.

    M4 Won't Feed

check where the mag tube meets the receiver. ensure there are no gaps, misalignments, or burrs. I am asuming you have stripped and cleaned everything. Does it cycle manualy (when you hit the shell release and rack the bolt (make sure you are not using live ammo)).
  9. try these guys. Might cost you, but they have everything. http://www.e-gunparts.com/products.asp?chrMasterModel=4150zM1%20SUPER%2090%20FIELD&MC=

....so..umm....where you thinking about being burried M1014?
  13. this is the same thing but for the Black Eagle. If you register with Brownells it drops the price to $15 and change http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=6320&title=MAGAZINE%20SPRING%20RETAINING%20RING,%20FIELD&s=15447
  14. I am sure you could find a 12 gauge spring retainer that would fit. try browning or mossberg or beretta.... $25 is a little steep.

    M4 Exploded Parts List?

this is the spare parts manual http://www.benelli.it/Articoli/Download.asp?Type=SPL&IDArma=14 click on the .pdf file on the right side of the page.
  17. http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=23695&title=MAGAZINE%20SPRING%20SEAL%20RING it is not inexpensive. I am sure you could find something similar at a (real) harware store. An internal retaining ring. It is not required for the gun to function.
  18. there was no welding or brazing, I used the stock handgaurd ring as the barrel retaining ring (look close at the picture). I silver solderd the front sight on. on the form one you use the receiver serial number, you have to engrave your name and city on the barrel, did it with a dremel. regards-d

    M4 literature

check out the benelli armi itilan website. it has a very indepth parts manuel. regards-d
  20. I ended up doing the barrel myself ($600. for the barrel from e-gunparts, dimond hacksaw blade $10., shotgun muzzel reamer and campher bit $100.) The magtube ($30. from some guy on the forum) I had done by a machine shop ($20) because the square thread (while very strong) has to be done on a lathe and requires skill. I bought the extra parts so I could convert back to the stock configuration if I need extra capacity (since it is registered as a SBS there is no 922®abc123 foolishness to be concerned with.)
  21. You can fire this guy one handed. The kick on the M4 is so soft. now I just need to make a thigh (a la road warrior) holster.

    M4 Cycle Question

This feature also allows you to "carier load" (add an extra shell) - do a search. and you can pop in a slug or 3" mag if you need to very quickly. It is a very cool feature. regards -d

    Another M4?

here is a link to an earlier post where I document the procedure outlined in the military M1014 manual. http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9909
  24. both parts are secured with a horriible euro thread lock compound. 350 deg F will loosen it, and a good strap wrench. do a search on this forum and you will find many different methods. For you own knowledge you should also do a search on any legal implications, but do not ask questions here - they have all been answered. Speak with your attorny or find a savy lawyer referal through your shooting range. -regards d.
