  1. I hear they are even coming out with a pink synthetic model for the all the girly men.
  2. Brats and burgers usually.........free beer of course.
  3. I stopped at Gander Mtn the other night and no primers of any kind, no powder, not much shot, a ton of wads, and no hulls. Another store which specializes in reloading supplies had very limited amounts of primers, only 1 lb canisters of powder, and one flat of 7 1/2 shot and some 9 shot. WTF Chuck...... Who is hoarding all this stuff?
  4. I started out hunting the Black River Falls area for the first 5 years, but for the last 20+ years I have been in a camp near Rhinelander. If you know where Pelican lake is then you will be in the vicinity. I friend hunts in Florence, so have been there a few times over the years myself. We float the Pine River at least once or twice a summer on a canoe. Great trip. Deer have been scarce lately, so good luck this fall.
  5. They have big deer up there in Northern Wi, so that 300 might not be so bad running lighter grain bullets through it. I have spent a lot of time in that part of the world, so I can understand his choice of caliber. Never can have too much gun......
  6. Agreed. From a performance/reliability standpoint nothing....However that older 870 might only take 2 3/4" shells, but if its a heavy duck model then it will take 3" shells. The Nova will handle up to 3 1/2" shells. If you have the gun or have a screeming deal on the 870 then go for it. You will find it far easier to get parts, service, and any little do dad you want to hange on it.
  7. One last thing to mention....what ever bad behaviors your dog exhibits are typically more your fault than your dogs fault. I never tolerated jumping, chewing, and all those other pesty things. So your diligence will pay huge dividends. A lot of reasons people choose dog trainers to do the work for them. I like the challenge and the time to watch mine develope over the years, so to each his own.
  8. Now is the time to sell the unwanted ones outright either in the news paper, internet, to a friend, local gun club, or where ever it works best for you. At least if you sell them outright you should get a fair price. Like lawndart said, if you trade in you will get screwed......that i guarantee. Take the cash from your sales and apply toward your new toy and pony up what ever additional cash you need. Take your time, you have all spring and summer to sell the others before the fall seasons open up.
  9. amen to new beginnings.
  10. I think Alfarouq needs a little black cloud for bringing this bs in here.
  11. When I turned 40 my wife filed for divorce, you got a new Benelli..........guess we both came out ahead.
  12. Probably couldnt hang with Patrick Flannigan and his Winchester SX3
  13. He is 14 years old, so his daddy likely bought it for him. Doesnt know the diff from his ahole to his elbow yet.
  14. TMAC

    Legacy 1oz. load

I have seen this on several makes of auto's before, usually seen when shooting at night. I couldnt tell you if it is a problem or not, looks pretty cool.
  15. Nobody cares what gun your shooting, all that matters is your breaking birds.
  16. Ok my turn: And use lead too.... Learn the regs in the area you intend to hunt............
  17. I know you are looking for advice, and so far a lot about the gun but nothing mentioned about the other tools of the trade. Consider at least one dozen good quality decoys. Get one good duck call with an instructional cd or dvd and learn to use it without it sounding like a cazoo. How about duck identification, pretty important stuff there too. Best is to find a friend who can help you get your feet wet.
  18. Learn how to shoot it well would be the best tweak I can think of.
  19. If you want a dedicated goose gun I would go to a 10 ga and not fool around.
  20. Grandpa was shooting lead too......however I agree 3" is typically enough.
  21. Its not even a cool looking gun, kinda ugley to me.
  22. If your hunts arent long can only go a few times a year, never shoot clays, break in they way the claim you should, and may be only may be the M2000 will last a while. I guess to each his own. I had one, been there, sent it back 4 times, waited, and watch it fail time and time again. No doubt there are similar stories with all brands. I later bought a Beretta and then a Winchester, both fine guns with no issues. Live and learn.
