  1. The large gages were from the days of the market hunters and like Nikolai said typically mounted as a punt gun on a skiff or boat. Do some web searches on this stuff its kind of interesting to see how they used to do it.
  2. Well if your shooting Trap or skeet we are talking about two different things. Trap is full choke no questions asked for me, while skeet is cyl or IC. Grind em up.
  3. From what I hear about TX, thats pretty much the nature of the beast there. Mostley all private land and a pay as you go hunt for most guys, I hope like **** it never gets that way here.
  4. The ever grow Whitetail in MN that big hmmmm, 12 pt - we count that on one side in WI
  5. Way to kick but Carver!
  6. In all reality like mentioned above a load of trap or skeet loads at 15 ft through a full choke would saw a person in half, if any doubt comes to mind go to #5 game loads and then just look for the pieces.
  7. Electroless nickel, or hard chrome would look pretty to and better than galv
  8. It looks like you ran into a horrible string of luck with guns malfunctioning. I own the 1100 version of your 11-87 and never really get problems with it ahmmm until you get it good and dirty from a lot of shooting. If your son does that much competetive shooting you really should consider an O/U, just like Novaking mentioned. A decent name brand O/U should stand up all the shooting you want.
  9. I think its time to put this whole post to rest, now the whole damm thing is getting off the original topic - time to stop.
  10. I have stuck around in here for quite some time, originally because I had tons of problems with a Stoeger product but then mainly because the topics of discussion are interesting and sometimes i even have somthing worth sharing

    sx3?

I own a SX2 which is very similar the SX3 from an operations standpoint. Contrary to the comments above you should not find it to be cheaply built, but a well constructed semi auto. I cannot comment too much on speed because any auto's I have ever owned shoot as fast as I can aim and pull the trigger. No full auto setting ha ha. I dont think you would be dissapointed with this gun.
  12. You may see a marginal benefit. However if your dialed in with your shooting it wouldnt matter if you had a mod choke in or cylinder, you would just see a lot more powdered birds. I am only an occasional trap and skeet shooter so for skeet I still use IC, if I got into a league then the skeet cylinder choke would be the better choice.
  13. You just hit the nail right on the head bignotti, I work for a german company and we see this every day. Our US made parts are looking real good compared to the imports right now.
  14. Your mix seems fine to me, similar to what I own myself. I would get maybe 2 or 3 feeders. No experince with a wood duck call yet, I just bought one over the winter but the past has told me they do respond to the hen mallard quack like calls too - truth is soon to be found. Everyone in our group has some different types and brands of decoys, you can show multiple speices in your set. We use a lot of Black Ducks mixed with Mallards, and sometimes with it some Gads, Woodies and even teal. The jerk rigs are nice on really still days. Good luck

    Duckhunters

Working on the honey-do list so I dont have to this fall. Othwise working with my dog and fishing the summer away.
  16. congratulations young man, keep up the good work.
  17. what you can and cant mount will always be an issue
  18. In Wisconsin the wolves were reintroduced and have made quite a come back, to a lot of hunters they should be put back on the pest list with coyotes. Our group saw 2 wolves during the deer gun season last year, and they dont seem all to fearfull of man. Bear hunters are loosing dogs to wolves, and we even had a case where a frozen deer had a hind quarter tore right off of it. Still pretty cool to see.
  19. Nice job Webfoot! took a while but you found time to finish the job, bet you cant wait to shoot out of it this fall.
  20. 1. two in the magazine and one in the chamber 2. I dont know anything about mag extensions 3. cylinder choke or IC would be my choice for skeet
  21. Probably cant buy beer on Sunday either

    bore lenghth

    its all greek to me?1?

    bore lenghth

I think what you want is a measurement of the bore at the end of the barrel, measurement taken with a caliper or micrometer. You mention a diameter of 18.3mm so about .720". Typically no one cares about that information, its all choke diameter related and with most guns you get several different chokes to change the constricion of the pattern. So you see its related to the choke you use, x full, full, im, mod, ic, cyl, skeet or what ever you have. Its not a black and white question.
