  1. 3" #4's on ducks 3" #2's on geese All Lead ....................
  2. 12 degrees! sounds like a heat wave. We expect temps this week to drop into the minus 20's and with winchill minus 40's. Burrrrrrrrrrrr. I need a vacation someplace warm soon, that or a good buisness trip works too.
  3. We need a trip down to visit Tucker in VA, where is warm and sunny and the ducks just fall from the sky.
  4. Tucker thats great you can join the world of freezing liquids to solids, if you could see out my back door it looks like the North Pole. F - global warming, its darned cold here. Merry Christmas to all!

    bow hunting

I couldnt agree more with both of you. Hunting isnt an arm chair sport, you need to be there. I hear so many people try to give advice from what they heard or saw on TV, most of those hunting shows are utter BS. Get out there and do it then come talk to me. like others have said before here, get the best equipment you can afford and learn to use it well. Then go as much as you can.

    bow hunting

Thats a good one, but this is Benelli gun website so you might be a little misguided here. I have a Mathews too, buy it you wont have any regrets.
  9. You just keep right at it till the end like we did. Honestly it hasnt been this cold with so much snow since about 1976 here either, this is just rediculous. Should be driving trucks out on Green Bay soon, frozen ice several feet thick.
  10. You might have the upper hand on the smart ass comments, but I dont mind joining you from time to time. You set yourself up for that one, but Im guessing you knew it was coming.
  11. Pretty clever fellow arent you
  12. May be you should attach a string and a bobber for next time
  13. Tucker, if your still duck hunting consider yourself lucky. We froze in like Antarctica starting the week of Thanksgiving, and there is no looking back. At 6AM today morning temp was -6 F.

    Pheasant....

You really never do know what range your birds are going to flush, but considering they are pen raised birds a more open choke and smaller shot is ok. Number 6 the smallest shot size I personally would use. Like Timb99 said the misses you are seeing have nothing to do with your selection of shot size and choke tube, its all about the practice. Even after I completed a whole fall skeet league I still had a tough time killing birds this weekend, got my limit but had to walk a lot further to do it. Practice make perfect.
  15. In Wisconsin we do a split season also, that and we have a seperate Northern zone and Southern zone opener just to complicate matters a little more.
  16. Nice hunts, would also like to know where your from. May need to take a trip there.
  17. CLP in moderation has been good in the cold north too. All froze up here so the season is basically done, good luck down south.
  18. This is a truley a personal choice, with a million different anwers. i would choose a gas operated gun, the brand is what ever fits you the best. I like the new Winchester SX3 or the older SX2 in a gas gun.
  19. Nice mess of birds, good shooting.
  20. Kafasi, what state are you in? Just curious.
  21. I always like to start with the IC, but if the birds are hanging on the edge then go to the mod choke and reach out and slam em.
  22. We ground up a lot of geese into sausage at Maplewood north of Green Bay on highway 29. Best place in the area to have sausage made at, they do everything from summer/hot sticks/brats/ and the list goes on. If your in the area give them a try. It wont be cheap but it will be good.
  23. Show me a Drake Canvasback then you really got somthing Season on cans is closed here in WI.
  24. I still like to use Hoppes 9, the smell of it takes me back.

    20ga pump

Pick the pump that fits You the best. You might find the 28 give you a better sight plane, although 26" bbl's are common in skeet. My choice would be a an 870 Wingmaster in 20 ga or an 1100, both fit me well and are very versatile.
