  1. You have my sympathy living in Chicago.......
  2. A lot of the Stevens model 200's come equipped in a package around here, you usually find them mated with a Tasco or Bushnell scope. I would preferr to just purchase the gun and put a better quality scope on it. From what I have heard this model shoots very nicely right out of the box.

    whoo hoo

I live in Green Bay also, so you get to double dip and hunt NZ and Wisconsin..lucky guy.
  4. To Tuckers testiment.....A lot of us have cut our teeth shooting at 870 wingmaster, and looking back 20-30 years you still find that reliable shooting iron in my hands every fall. The history speaks for itself. I havent bought a new pump shotgun in forever, because I dont have to the one I have had since I was 12 works just fine. Like it or leave.....shoot what you like.

    whoo hoo

He cant be in the US........
  6. In Wisconsin we are seeing lots of birds on their way back, at home for me there are quite a few Mallards pairing up, goofy noisy geese, and the mergansers. More to come for sure. No snow here......all gone thank God.
  7. Your going to need a heavier hand than that......ever consider a trainer. Also that barking is not tolerable, or at least to me it wouldnt be.
  8. Personally wouldnt 30.06 be a far more versatile caliber that 270? You really arent giving up any balistically and you win a whole lot of more options on loads.
  9. My 5yr old lab breaks once and a while, when hunting with other dogs mostly. If you dog is breaking on just throw dummies, then start with staking his butt to the ground and let him hang himself a few times followed by some punishment for breaking.....then repeat till he gets it right....not all in the same day or week but keep running this drill. Once you have that down thow in some live fire or starters pistol when the dummy is thrown, and if he breaks start staking him down again. Sooner or later he or she should get it. In a hunting situation I normally tie my dog to the boat or blind the for the first few bangs of the morning, if he behaves we leave him free. This might work and easy to do.
  10. Get off your high horse, that Nova is that much better that the good old Win 1300........like tucker said know one will even know the diff when the thing goes bang in the middle of the night. I guarantee either one will work when you want them to.

    Shells

I agree with Timb99 to a point, but its best to look at the indian not the arrow. Learning how to shoot it well far out paces the ammo your running through it.
  12. Use it up, its fricken oil for gosh sakes..........people collect the darndest things.

    Decent prices ?

If you start getting into regualar shooting, do yourself a favor and look for a used MEC 600 jr with what ever charge bar size you like, bag of wads, powder, and for heavens sake a Lymans reloading manual. Its fun, inexpensive, and long term will save you a few bucks over the cost of cheap low end factory ammo.
  14. Thats a shame your Maxus gave you so much grief, lets see if Browning can keep you happy. I have a SX2, and now after a couple of seasons am seeing the duratouch start to peel off so I will try to send the stock back and see if I can make a warranty issue out of it. Im not holding my breath on this one.
  15. I have a SX2, and must say the new SX3 most certainly gets my attention too. I see they also have them just out in 20 ga., would like to get my hands on one of those.
  16. Wow, 600 - why bother counting.........
  17. What game are you shooting? trap, skeet, 5 stand, sporting clays.....some guys will get real specific when it comes to picking a gun for a peticular shooting game. The 3 gas operated auto loaders mentioned about will certainly do the trick.
  18. Ducks are all long gone up north, so you boys down south can have your way with them.......Shoot em in the lips!!
  19. Looks like problem solved
  20. I have heard of this done before with #5 Lead at close distances.....no problemo
  21. Oh lets not forget the Packers .......see they laid an egg last night.
  22. Its a little putsy but worth the effort..... I made rabbit this weekend for the first time in over 20 years, they were so good it made me wonder why I kept passing them up all those years.....they are officially on the menue.
  23. A few guys I know who normally wear bi-focals switch to single vision glasses for shooting sports, golf, or anything like that. I guess they get really messed with the bi-focals.
  24. Kolar is another, made in Wisconsin.
  25. I think this one has been done before but thus far its my favorite. Take two duck breasts (mallard) and slice thin the long way, then again in half to make 4 pieces of meat. Soak overnight in Terryacki, soy, and Werschester souce. Roll in one water chestnut, wrap wrap with bacon, add toothpick to hold it all. Grill till the bacon turns crisp, the meat should be med/rare appx when finished. Wild rice on the side or what ever suits your fancy.
