  1. If these are your last two choices then its easy. Super Nova. If you must have the auto look at the Beretta 3901 citizen in black, they sell them at Walmart, fleet farm, anywhere for around $500 give or take depending on the location. Not bad for an entry autoloader.

    Super Sport

screw you. I dont own this gun, but handled one at Gander Mtn recently and see know reason why not to Pheasant hunt with it and if recoil bothers you go to 20 ga. I know I would rather carry the supersport than my old 1100 but cant have it all. If you can shoot 20 in 3" #5 at pheasant, you wont be undergunned - no way because its all I shoot.
  3. I have known a few guys who have tried them and claimed they were junk. I cant elaborate much on what the problem was because it was a long time ago. I think the Black magic's are new? so might be better than what they made in the past. Shoot some and tell us all about it.
  4. You can shoot slugs out of any smooth bore shotgun, preferred to have the cylinder choke in. What you sacrafice with the smooth bore is accuracy, the rifled slug barrel will give you consistant results with every shot and allow you to adjust the sights to match the distance you are shooting. I think yes it would be work the cash for the slug barrel especially if you hunt in a shotgun only state our county.
  5. Plain old Advantage camo for me works for all outdoor sports, too many kids and wife to worry about keeping up with the latest trends. I put my 5yr old son and 10 year old daughter in old military fatigues, seems to keep them covered up. Worked for the USMC for a long time.
  6. my thermos of coffee, wouldnt hunt without it!
  7. Does Turkey have a gravitational field, with Zero gravity i bet those suckers really fly.
  8. I shot them all year and had some problems but really couldnt blame it on the shells. Stoeger M2000 didnt like to cycle much of anything.
  9. The Benelli works and the Stoeger might, do a search especially on the Stoeger if you want to see the good bad and ugly.
  10. Non toxic for pheasants, what is the world coming to? After shooting steel all this fall at ducks its been fun taking some afternoon pheasant hunts, shooting my 20ga with 1 1/8oz of #5's has been real fun. Taking shots at passing birds out to 45+yards and just knocking em down stone dead, I dont think you get results like that with steel of any kind less you go heavy shot.
  11. Their Cali ducks, used to the warm temps and probably wear sunglasses too
  12. I know a guy who bought a box and used it on geese. He said it killed what he hit but honestly couldnt say if was was worth the extra cash, normally he used BB and said they folded up all the same on good solid hits.

    R-1 o-rings

Made from exotic Italien rubber!! like Nitrile or Buna-N my gosh. Even the ones for my 1100 are like $1.50 ea and those I now get at Ace hardware for cents and work the same.
  14. nice collection Mudhen, you must carry a sled to haul all those calls into the blind
  15. If its a light primer strike, could also be barrel head spacing - mine had that problem among other things.
  16. Ducks: Echo single reed, Illusions double reed, Primos Timber Wench - dbl reed Geese: Mick Lacy flute
  17. Getting toward the end here, may be another 40+ days minus a week for the deer gun season. Winding down soon here.
  18. Nice birds Mudhen. For the guys down south, the northern migrators dont appear to be in Wisconsin yet as most the mallards around are local and a lot of the teal/woodies are starting to move on. I shot a nice 3 curl mallard last Thursday, nicest bird for me in a long time - we figure it was one of our local sanctuary birds.
  19. Why dont you try patterning your chokes before you run off and spend a lot of money on choke tubes? Shoot the load you want to hunt with against paper or cardboard and see what the pattern looks like at 30 yards, then play with the different chokes you have. May be switch ammo brands? all not too hard to get the results you want. If in the end none of that gives you the results you want try an aftermarket. I still shoot my factory chokes.
  20. Depends on what your using it for? waterfowl, upland game, personal defense, deer hunting, turkey hunting??????

    Opening Day

It wasnt opening day but still pretty fun. A friend and I took our kids out goose hunting so two ten year old girls and a five year old little boy all out to a cut soybean field at 5 AM. Then throw in my yellow lab Tread just for good measures. At the end of the day we got our 2 goose limit each, all finished by 10:00. The best thing is the kids got to see everything, they saw geese land in the decoys and they saw birds shot from the sky (no ground swatting here) calling and flag waiving. My son laid between my friend and I in the decoy spread while the girls where tucked away in some nearby cover, despite the cold and muddy conditions everyone said they had fun. First time I ever fired the gun with my little guy in the blind, he thinks this whole hunting thing is pretty cool and cant wait for next time. The girls will go anytime you ask and said they like this better than the mall - cool. I think we have their interest now.
  22. I talk to my dog in the front seat of the truck, he listens and has few comments.
  23. Mop up those cripples for your young dog before you send him, unless you want to spend a lot of time watching him fool around with them on the water.

    New waders

It seemed like the boot of the wader was a bit bigger than a regular shoe, to me this is good so I can put on a pair of wool socks for extra warmth.
  25. Fall Turkey hunting is officially open in Wisconsin, and unlike the folks down south we are getting back toward seasonal temp of a high in the 50's - quite comfortable for me. My spring hunt was a disaster, and with all the duck hunting we have done so far it might be an accident if I shoot a Turkey. Today its blowing like **** and kind of cold, a buddy called over his lunch break which he took at the duck blind and said the Mallards were pouring in off the Bay. Now thats what I am talking about for the weekend.
