  1. This thread has generated more interest than most of the topics here. I don't post much here but I do stop by from time to time to see what's being discussed. My Benelli interest is the M1S90, but sadly there isn't much talk about that model any more.
  2. I shoot reduced recoil loads through my M1 all the time with no problems at all. I thinks it's a misconception that the Benelli inertia recoil system won't cycle these types of rounds.
  3. It has to be an M1 Super 90 if it's marked Heckler & Koch. How much is he selling it for?
  4. Oh, wait...I see that you have a wood stock. Mine is the synthetic stock.
  5. Is the SBE stock the same dimensions as the M1S90 stock? I have an M1S90 from around the same era and the limbsaver pad I bought fit perfectly.
  6. I could be wrong, but I doubt that Benelli would do it. Any good gunsmith should be able to do it though.
  7. Ouch! It's true though.
  8. http://www.onecryo.com/ I've had several thing cryo'ed by this company in the past. But I honestly think it is of dubious benefit for a shotgun barrel.
  9. Is there ANY brand of shotgun (or any other type of gun for that matter) that has an absolute 100% customer satisfaction rating? The answer is no. There will ALWAYS be some owners who experience some problems or who just don't like the gun for some reason, whatever the brand may be. I can tell you this...I personally don't think there is a more reliable or durable semi-automatic shotgun available than a Benelli. That's why I own one. Your opinion may vary, so spend your money as you see fit. By the way, what Benelli were you considering that costs $2,000? [ 09-14-2006, 03:20 PM: Message edited by: harrydog ]
  10. The inside of the barrel is chrome plated, is it not?
  11. My guess is that it's from the plastic wad material, like you said.
  12. I've settled on modified for both buck and slugs. Works just fine for both.
  13. Cool. I'm going to order one.
  14. Does the GG&G bolt handle weigh significantly more than the stock handle? Adding weight to the bolt assembly seems like it would affect the cycling rate and possibly cause problems. I want to get one for my M1 but would like to know if anyone's had problems with them.
  15. Really? Have you actually done direct comparisons with all of the other soft-shooting shotguns out there? It's not that I don't believe you, it's just that I've never heard anyone say this before. [ 07-25-2006, 07:37 PM: Message edited by: harrydog ]
  16. I think you're exactly right. Benelli designed the M4 to work with the attachments that the military uses. The inertia system of the M1/M2 will not always function reliably with attachments. Otherwise, the M4 is no more reliable than the M2. If you avoid light target loads and don't hang lights, side saddles, scopes, and other doodads on the gun there is no reliability advantage to the M4. If you plan on using attachments or if you just like the coolness factor, go for the M4. Otherwise you can save quite a bit of money and still have a fine weapon with the M2.

    243 vs. 270

Here's a handy list of different calibers and their recoil energy. As you can see, the .270 will have significantly more recoil than the .243. A good all-around caliber that I like and that I think would be good for your son is the 7mm-08. http://www.chuckhawks.com/recoil_table.htm
  18. That's good to know. Is there is any way to determine which port design without disassembly? Also, does the 2 port design function reliably with low recoil loads?
  19. Regarding the M4, this makes me question its toughness... http://www.benelliusa.com/forums/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/1932.html#000006
  20. I was also pulling for Italy, but I would have pulled for just about anyone against France. I'm especially glad France lost after what Zidane did.
  21. Can you explain how it is tougher all the way around? I think the barrel is heavier. What else makes it tougher?
  22. I bought the top one, and later added an 18.5" rifle sight barrel and a then a pistol-grip stock, so I now have all three of the guns in the ad! The Super 90 really is the all purpose shotgun.
  23. I bought my H&K imported M1 Field 26" barrel back around 1991 (I think). I later bought an 18.5" Tactical barrel w/rifle sights, a pistol grip stock, and a mag extension. Kind of the opposite of what you did. It's been a fantastic gun. It cycles everything too.

    M4 questions

I'm thinking of getting an M4 if I can find one configured the way I want it (I want it with the straight stock). I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer. 1) How is the recoil compared to the M1S90? 2) The broken bolt and pistons that I've been reading about have me concerned. Are these problems restricted to only the guns with the 4-port barrels or are the 2-port barrels also affected? 3) Do most of the M4s sold have the 4-port barrels? To get the 2-port barrel, do I need to order one? 4) Will the gun reliably cycle reduced recoil rounds if it has the 2-port barrel? 5) How is cleaning and maintenance compared to the M1/M2 Benellis? 6) Someone mentioned that the early production M4s seemed to have better quality than the more recent ones. What differences are people seeing that makes them think that? [ 03-30-2006, 08:18 AM: Message edited by: harrydog ]

    Limbsaver Pad

No, I meant an M1S90 Benelli.
