I could care less about the "ethics and morality" of hunting. I care about people convincing themselves and others that birdshot is a legitimate home defense round, if only because this misinformation gets spread around like a plague beset upon the world ... and it is my role in life to be a shining spotlight of enlightenment and illumination, eradicating the illogical and inefficient practices of the world.

So, your story tells us what we already know ... that even large "bird shot" is grossly ineffective at stopping and putting down 120 lb weak animals at relatively close ranges. 4 shots and 30+ seconds to kill an animal that wasn't trying to attack you and still managed to move 30 yards, more than the length of your shot, after being hit 3 times. And it blows my mind that some idiots actually believe that birdshot, even #4, is an acceptable home defense round to use against 230 lb charging crackheads at 5 yards that ARE trying to kill you. Other than that, good shoot ... you sure showed that baby deer who was boss, and got some swiss cheesed deer meat for your efforts.

I'm not saying that people will need guns to fight off new era Obama brown shirt thugs coming to take everything you own, I am saying as an economist that things have the potential to continue going down ... and that normally nice, civil people have a tendency to become animals in survival mode when the **** hits the fan and they realize how underprepared they are. It's a relatively inexpensive precaution to safeguard your life, liberty and possessions ... throughout history, masses of people without guns have been bent to the will of the people with guns. Do as you see fit.

Please at least build a $800 practical AR battle rifle ... if for no other reason then to load up 6 mags and leave it in a safe for a rainy day. Some day in perhaps the not so distant future, you will thank me. If you need any help in building such a rifle, please get ahold of me ... I know way too much about this type of stuff.

Look ... it's clearly a grey area ... a deterrent that will be effective against 95% of the general population. I, however, fit into that 5% of people that is willing to push limits and ask questions, and face potential consequences. I know firsthand, for one thing, that law enforcement in my state knows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about preban vs postban magazines ... I've dealt with state police, local police, sheriffs etc and none of them had any CLUE about how to tell a mag was preban vs postban ... they all were just worried about the number on the gun, and making sure it was unloaded. As a college grad student looking to go to law school, who has quite a few cop friends who would vouch for my character, I am really not worried about getting screwed over by some overzealous ATF agent who wants to interpret intentionally vague laws in ways that will hurt me ... ****, worst case scenario I make a lawsuit against the state defending my rightful action under the law via the parts rebuild clause, and we finally get some clarity from the guys behind the bench. As always when it comes to law breaking ... if you generally shoot straight and don't make yourself a target, you will likely be fine if you step into a grey area, as you will be given the benefit of the doubt ... while if you shoot up a school, expect that every gun/round you own will be confiscated, and they will throw every charge they possibly can at you. From taking many law classes, you learn that the law works in funny ways ... and that the law as it's seemingly written on paper means very little, while interpretation and situational enforcement mean everything. That said, all my mags are currently old as **** preban mags, as I am still considering whether or not this pmag and glock upgrade is worth the potential red tape ...

It's retarded, but a nice loophole that potentially allows us to get new pmags

Semester. One more semester after my one more final, then I get to enjoy being an elite college economics grad that gets to sit unemployed due to the economy ... oh the irony.

Still halfway completed. I have one more final to go, then I'll be done with school ... been a rough/busy semester. I'll get it done shortly.
