Don't sell it. If you have to, it's worth ~2000-2200, more if you find someone stupid. That's taking the $500+ dollar stock into account.
  2. Get a good rifled slug (I use truball) and a looser constriction choke for maximum accuracy and you will be good to go. It's the best it's going to get in a smoothbore. Edit - And me personally, if I could only choose one weapon for hunting it certainly would not be a shotgun, it would be a proper rifle.
  3. Some people here have used them and like them, others have not. It's not an expensive part, get one and see for yourself. Offhand, the only "problem" I can recall is that they don't fit perfectly the newer 11707 profile barrels, some plastic has to be dremeled off apparently to allow the gas pistons to move freely without rubbing, etc. This is all secondhand though, as I've never owned one. I'm waiting on a certain someone to release their handguard.
  4. No idea, first I've heard of it, I doubt it is true. I could see them filling military/LE orders first, but cutting off all sales to civilians? Doubtful, sounds like a paranoid rumor to me until I see some official statements or evidence supporting this.
  5. Hmmm ... what job would that be?

    gun oil

Honestly ... it doesnt really matter. So long as your gun is lubricated and isn't rusting, you can use whatever oil/lube/protectant you want. There are various differences between offerings ... I personally use breakfree clp for normal carefree cleaning, and I use machine gunners lube if I really want something to be oiled well and remain oiled. You will find various information and reviews on just about any product, so your best bet is just to buy one in a small quantity and see if it works for you.
  7. Good question, something I do not really have a good answer for ... If I had to guess, I'd say that the shell being held down by the BCG cycling above it keeps the lifter down, and the lifter being held down for the rearwards cycle period makes the BCG skip the notch that normally would activate the shell release and trip the lifter on the next cycle forward. If that makes any sense at all that is, I'm tired and haven't fired my m4 in awhile.
  8. The ARGO system is roughly the inertia system + 2 gas pistons that will cycle the BCG if the weapon somehow does not have enough "recoil" to cycle normally, aka too heavy, shot loosely, etc. At least I think that's how it works.
  9. Well ... It's a complex issue, trying to gauge whether or not they will attempt another AWB in the near future. On one hand you have Eric Holder running his mouth about the presidents agenda, spouting out every classic moronic statement from "gun show loophole" to "cop killer bullets", and you have the AWB listed on whitehouse.gov under the urban crime policy section ... On the other hand you have Harry Reid saying he would not vote for it and likely would block it from the senate, you have Nancy Pelosi saying that nothing has been discussed and that they had no plans for one at the current time, you have a ton of people watching and waiting for it to come so that they can fight it tooth and nail (it was snuck in the first time), and it likely would never pass without a sunset provision. It barely passed the first time and it was stuck onto a much larger bill, and nobody was putting up a fight to stop it or raise awareness about it. As much as I dislike Obama/Reid/Pelosi, they are not at all stupid people, and I think and hope that they have finally realized that gun control is a losing issue for them. They HAVE to retain it as part of their political platform to appease the base, but so long as they do not act on it for fear of being voted out, I guess it's an acceptable compromise, or the best we can really hope for. I obviously don't have a crystal ball, nor do I trust any politician and expect them to remain true to their word ... but if I had to guess I'd say that nothing is going to be outright "banned" at this time. Even if the AWB was to come back, if it kept it's current wording and definitions (assuming existing guns were grandfathered), I don't really see how it would prevent you from selling and shipping accessories for preban guns ... The stock of an "assault weapon" is not illegal to own or use, it is just illegal to own and use if it is attached to a post-ban assault weapon. As I see it, even if the AWB was to come back tomorrow, so long as the wording was not changed, it would not prohibit existing "preban" m4s from being updated with aftermarket parts, assuming those aftermarket parts were legal to install in the first place. They've said a lot of fluff about enforcing "existing laws that are on the books" lately ... I hope that means illegal handgun ownership and illegal gun crime, and not 922r violations and the like. That said, I don't mean to rain on your business model or your attempts to ensure that these stocks get out to the users. I understand what you are trying to do and it truly speaks volumes about your character and the way your business is run, and I think many people will support you because of it. As previously said, your work is much appreciated in this community and you're building up quite a reputation that I hope will benefit you in the long run. I hope that you can build/sell these 20 stocks, followed by 2000 more stocks, without any legislation coming that would block you from doing so. I guess we will all see ...
  10. Which is why it's nice to have a throw lever, quick release mount (which is why it would be nice to have a proper 1913 spec rail etc). But yes, it's one or the other.
  11. Just about every red dot on the market is too tall to cowitness with the stock ghost ring iron sights, and certainly with the rifle sights. Your best bet for a low profile iron sight is either a docter/jpoint/pride fowler/irondot or an aimpoint micro. However, even with these sights you can't cowitness with the irons.
  12. That sucks ... but why didn't you research this before making your purchase? That being said, I am very thankful I am not an evil lefthander.
  13. You are the ******* man. Thank you for all your hard work on this project as well as all the others.
  14. It's worth $2200 or so, maybe, tops, if it has the skeletonized stock and is in good condition and you find the right buyer. However, there are some on here that claim it to be some super rare collectors edition thing, and then try and charge $3500+ for one, which is lunacy. It's an inferior gun to the later models, and the later models can still be found for $1650 without the skeletonized stock, which is worth $500 or so on it's own, sometimes more.
  15. oh snap son
  16. I'd go with the second one ^
  17. milled recoil tube vs non 2 ports vs 4 interchangeable chokes vs non heavier profile barrel vs non american flag receiver vs non number on side of barrel, look at the chart
  18. Whatever you do, don't give a price.

    M4 pistons

    good to go
  20. There is a USMC manual floating around on here that is much better than the factory manual, I suggest you read it all and take the advice given. http://www.militec.com/firearms/manual.html http://www.farrarsodfarm.com/nelli/USMC_M1014.pdf As far as harming the BCG .. short of using dangerously overloaded ammo, the wrong gauge shells, or like ... taking a dremel to it, you will not be able to harm the BCG. It is incredibly robust. As far as chokes go, you can shoot slugs through any constriction as the lead in the slug will deform way before the choke gets damaged ... but that's the problem, the deformed lead slug will not fly as true and thus your patterns will likely be wider than if you used a looser choke that did not deform the slug. Steel shot ... no idea, I never use it. Don't they make special "steel shot ok" chokes just for steel shot? I think I have one, but I have never done any type of testing concerning steel shot or the effects it will have if used with regular chokes, so someone else will have to help you there.
  21. Sure, the question is will the loctite hold? I've heard lots of mediocre reviews of the mepro night sights ... its the main reason I never got them. I think trijicon makes a set, but I could be wrong.
  22. Bump for answers to burning questions
  23. Wow, that's messed up. I've been pretty underwhelmed with their product offerings, and some stories I've heard have also kept me from purchasing from them. YMMV.
