  1. Airsoft m4? It looks like it ... or just made of plastic? Either way, you fail to be better than I am.
  2. You haven't made any friends yet either tucker.
  3. What the ****, this whole time I thought you were a backwoods hick from Alabama or something.
  4. sling ... basically any 3point sling you find that suits you. The gun is too heavy for a one point sling IMO. I have used slings from blackhawk and spectre with my m4 ... but my m4 hasn't had a sling on it in years. Keep in mind you have to choose a sling with the flat web gear 1 inch adapter, not sure what the technical term is but lots of slings use HK hooks, QD points etc, you want one that will just loop the sling material through. Also, keep in the mind that the front sling point will turn to either side, just take some snap ring pliers and remove the retaining clip thing and you should be free to rotate it to the right/left side. As far as optics, that's personal preference as well. The irons work well for me, replacement night sights are also nice, if you want a red dot the aimpoint t1 is cream of the crop, the older smaller 511/512 eotech models also work, as do the mini red dots like the larue irondot, docter optic, jpoint, pridefowler etc ... I feel like I say this a lot. Your optic is up to you though, try as many as you can out and see what you like. That being said, I would 100% recommend shooting a whole bunch of rounds through your weapon with irons before you go adding accessories ... not only will you get proficient with the basic gun, but you will have a better idea of what you want to do with your weapon after getting familiar with the ins and outs of it.
  5. Store it muzzle up, there is no reason or logic behind doing it any other way ... there is nice big flat buttpad on the stock end, use that to stabilize your weapon as it leans against the wall of the safe. And no, oil drainage should not be an issue ... while you can run an m4 as wet as you want, keep in mind there is minimal benefit to oiling anodized aluminum, so unless your barrel/mag tube/BCG is REALLLLY soaked, I don't think it will be dripping down and getting onto anything.
  6. The sidearmor rails and I beleive the mesa tactical side saddle rails are 1913 spec. The problem isn't that the t1/others don't fit or work, it's that it isn't a precise fit ... the mount is only grabbing a tiny bit of the benelli rail, so if any force at all is put on the optic, like a sudden impact, it can shear off the mount from the rail and basically skim off the bottom of the mount ... I have done it, so has member unobtanium here, both with larue mounts which are the best in the industry. Your options for red dots, IMO, are an aimpoint t1, eotech, irondot/docter/pride fowler/jpoint, or some other takeoff of those 3. Unless you are shooting with a collapsible stock that is partially of fully collapsed, you want the lowest optic possible ... refer to this pic for the t1: If I was to get another red dot, and I will at some point, it is most definitely going to be a t1. I'll just have to deal with the rail however I can at that time.
  7. Ah, there he is. Now answer your damn PM.
  8. Negative to both counts. The recoil reducer in the m4 is the ARGO system, the weight, and the recoil tube/bolt design. If you need more recoil reduction beyond that ... maybe a 20 gauge is in order.
  9. I can think of one guy ... who will be along shortly.
  10. no problem.
  11. I hear you and agree to some extent ... that's why I don't like shell carriers, in addition to the fact that they only add weight to one side. All I really want is a vertical forward grip, thus the need for a bottom rail, and a side mounted light, thus the need for a side rail. The only reason I'm really interested in the top rail is that it is actually picatinny spec, which the stock m4 rail is not, and that it would allow me to mount an aimpoint t1 a little further forward than normal, which is ideal for cheekweld purposes. The m4 is already a heavy weapon ... IMO the extra weight of maybe another point for a railed handguard/foregrip is easily alleviated by the VFG ... I find that guns with VFGs feel much lighter and easier to hold in firing position, even if they are actually a bit heavier.
  12. Ummm, the ARGO system was specifically developed to allow the use of heavy optics/grips/rails etc. It is the inertia system that can fail when too much weight is added to the gun ... so basically you have it backwards, but don't take my word for it. Here is what Benelli has to say: "A combat shotgun has to function the first time, every time. The Benelli M4 does it for the U.S. military, and now can be the centerpiece of your own home defense plan. Troops who fight day and night need heavy accessories like night vision scopes. The combined additional weight of these optics and other accessories is not a problem for the M4. Benelli engineers developed and patented a unique auto regulating gas operated (ARGO) system. Dual stainless steel self-cleaning pistons located just ahead of the chamber operate directly against the proven rotating bolt and eliminate the need for complex linkages found on other gas autos. The result, Marine-tough reliability under the harshest environmental conditions."

I don't think anyone has been banned from this board ...
  14. You can call it whatever you like, the fact is that the DMW tube isn't (and doesn't claim to be) made nearly as well as the more expensive competitors. If you just want a cheap tube that will function, DMW is obviously the best option, as it's half the price.

military grade tape over a pair of needle nose pliars is generally how I see it done. That being said, I don't know exactly what you're talking about, but the method should hold the same ... put some An example:

    Gun Safes

http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=46&t=265373 A pretty good safe FAQ. and I've heard very good things about AMSEC Safes being the best safe for the money. http://www.amsecusa.com/
  17. I'd go with a full length tube over a +2 extension. If you don't you'll just want a full length tube later on and end up spending more money unneccesarily. You have 4 options for full length tubes pretty much, Dave's Metal Works, a factory 7 round tube if you can find one, a Cleeford/Carriercomp tube, and a SOCOMguy tube. I'd reccomend a SOCOMGUY or Carriercomp tube, they are both top quality (and thus cost more than the DMW tube, which is a nice cheap alternative).
  18. The m4 is "finicky"? News to me. The m4 was specifically made TO hang "a bunch of stuff" off of. That being said, I still am curious in one of these, but other things are a higher priority right now ... 12 gauge rails aren't gonna get banned, lots of other stuff likely is.

    Pump verses semi

    Pump verses semi

I've had 11k rounds through my M4 with no failures after the break-in period. I'd trust my life with it. It is faster than any pump could dream of being. There is no danger of short stroking a gas operated semi. I've only found one round that it would not cycle (and it said all over the box that it wouldn't cycle it, I just wanted to test it anyways). Use whatever you want, either will work ... You'll find most pump guys are envious of their automatic brothers though, and as such they make excuses as to why you don't "need" a semi shotgun ... and you don't NEED one, in the same way you don't NEED a Porsche. It's just super nice to have.
  21. I really wanted to troll this thread, but I resisted.

    Ammo...

Estate is ATK's cheap line of ammo. ATK also owns Federal, CCI and Speer. That said, I've never had any estate rounds give me trouble.

    Gun Safes

I always get flack whenever I post arfcom links ... but ar15.com has a new "Safes & Home Security" forum that is top notch IMO for getting info and opinions on available options. http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=6&f=46
  24. Novaking, your m4 envy is showing!
  25. Sorry, I never meant to suggest that ALL pump shotguns are limited in what they can do, or how they do it. I don't have time to go into detail, but I have had a mossberg 590 as my trunkgun for years, and I've used a dozen or so 870's over the years. I am familiar with their mechanics, they can do the same thing just differently in most cases. Either way, my post was not meant to put down pump shotguns or even to talk about pump shotguns, it was a post on how to use the m4 mechanics properly. I was only using pump shotgun references as, well, references. Bedtime.
