  1. Is it with a certain brand or all slugs? How accurate are these slugs? If these slugs do not group well at 40-50 yards, then the constriction may be too tight and the IC choke may be your answer as you suggested. This is probably why I was taught to use a wider choke. (to confound this is the fact that others on this forum have used slugs with MOD choke no problemo)I have only used Brenneke slugs as they are inexpensive but accurate. And I only have used CYL choke with them.
  2. Hopefully some other members like M1014, tucker, d can help, but here are my thoughts regarding your choke in the meantime: For starters, does it screw in normally? Sit tight when all the way down? Just want to make sure the threads are clean and not stripped. Second, does this occur with any buckshot or only the big balls (OOO, OO etc) I have been taught that slugs should be shot with IC or Cylinder choke, not Mod, but others have shot with Mod on this platform (M4) without problem. The same goes for the fat buckshot (again, my rulebook). I shoot #4 buckshot for home defense without a problem. Do you notice alot of leading on the tube? You may consider trying different brands and if still the same issue, then go to a wider choke & see. I would NOT put locktite of anysort on choke tube threads. Stuck choke tubes can be pretty bad.
  3. In another thread, a poster in Kalifornica said Turner's Sporting Goods had them for $199 http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13926
  4. Wonder how much it weighs? Someone mentioned that shotgun mounted lights die faster because of shock to the bulb...is that true? Anyway, won't be able to list stuff like that much longer on ebay: http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200707.shtml#2007-07-30094109
  5. He wouldn't even be able to sell his designs on ebay now.

    What to get?

THE primary difference between M2 and M4 is that M2 is inertia driven action; M4 is gas driven. Since adding stuff on the gun changes it's mass, it may alter the functioning of inertia systems. Some have said that even holding the weapon 'loosely' can cause cycling problems. (you can search the forums for these issues but at the moment my search function doesn't like "M2" put in it???) For the M4, changing it's mass (ie adding cool stuff) won't affect the cycling of the gas system. Plenty of folks with M2's out there with no problems, but I just like what the USMC likes. I'm sure there are other differences but I believe the cycling mechanism to be the major difference. As for the collapsible stock issue, how can I put this in a few words....too many morons in charge. I guess you can hide the gun with a collapsed stock easier under that long coat in 110 degree desert heat. But hey, it's a dry heat.

Thanks mudhen. Good 'nuff for me. So do you use those 5 inch plates for the final blow while hunting?

    will it work

E-spit = ebay? Someone said they are stopping listings of anything that can make a gun fire...triggers/barrels/firing pins etc...all because of the thought that the Vtech a****** got something from ebay. Is this true?? (yes another off topic thread killin comment from yours truly)

sorry...here's the link http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/GunTech/NewsletterArchive.aspx?p=0&t=1&i=503 Of course, the Brownell's product was one of the best, so a grain of salt for those results...

    What to get?

Is the shotgun a requirement for the academy?? Or is this for personal defense? Most of our local LE use Rem 870's and other assorted pumps (Mossy's included) as they are not expensive and extremely reliable. WIth proper training, you can cycle those things fast. BUT, with high power loads it will hurt your shoulder more than the Benelli M4. Also, for LE, pumps handle the nonlethal stuff, I don't have any experience with the M4 handling those types of rounds. I have an M4 for personal defense because I can put optics & stuff on it like our warriors do and it functions the same. I like the idea of less perceived recoil too and it delivers the payload as fast as I can pull the trigger. I am defending a family with small children so I will not let any goofball get past the entrypoint so the M4 was well worth the investment. I own an 870, but the M4 is THE home defense weapon for me. Since many of my LE acquainances train with 870's for their job, they are comfortable with it at home, so it is ultimately what you're comfortable with. This is my story and I'm stickin to it, your mileage may vary. Hope this doesn't contribute to the confusion.

hi mudhen, I too use breakfree CLP, and have a large bottle of the military version. I was wondering if you, or anyone else, have used militech-1 compared with Breakfree, since I have read posts on militech before (but can't find it anymore). Just wondering what other options there are since some guy on the Brownell's site has an article comparing various protectants, and breakfree didn't do particularly well in his test, but always seemed to do well by me. Thanks
  13. Wow...$450 and didn't meet the reserve.
  14. I am impressed with slug accuracy out of the M4 with standard 18.5 inch barrel length. Did you notice any decrease in accuracy or big drop in range of a slug with 4 inches knocked off the barrel? You lucky SOB:D The Glock 21 is a fine weapon. I love 14 rnds of big fat lead. It took years for anyone else to come close (Springfield XD is now the competition) but my long finders like the full size Glock frame. Sorry, off topic.

    M2 vs M4

Steel-plate, I've shot Winchester super light target loads through my M4 without a hickup. Your mileage may vary but I think the M4 will be much more versatile. I have the 2 port barrel.
  16. It may be near impossible to remove that tube as people have resorted to having a gunsmith mill cutouts for the collapsible stock rather than mess with a tube change.... http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8417&highlight=recoil+tube Good luck on your project.
  17. By your command, My Master...
  18. That Numerich part says 6 shot tube. I'm not at home to look but I thought the standard tube was 5, the full length 7. I'm confused.
  19. I believe the spring that comes in our civilian M4's is the same as the military with full length tubes. It just gets compressed with the dummy extension. Make sure as others have said that there are no burrs etc. Just out of curiosity, if it is a burr or similar issue, switch the extension tubes with someone else to see if the tube is slightly different (may just be at the limit of factory tolerance like my dummy extension). Hope this helps
  20. I thought the 'fake' extension could stay on to remove the barrel, but I have to take mine off. Could anyone confirm whether or not this is standard for the 'fake' (original) extension? Because of this feature, I went with the surecycle since I have to remove the extension anyway. I don't have the true factory benelli +2 extension to compare with.
  21. Hey Hogwild! SOWF is my favorite org! Outstanding mission. Here's a video all should see. Happy Memorial Day.
  22. The following links may help. Sounds like you have an M1014 with the American flag etched on the receiver? http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8417&page=2&highlight=m4+tube QUOTE=M1014;51432]heres the company that does the recoil tube modification---ACCURATE PLATING AND WEAPONARY INC. 23. Very cool pics. I've had my share of training and retraining including doing stuff in MOPP4 gear. Don't know if I'm ready to do it again even though it sounds more fun your way. I know people who went and sounds like a great place. I'm curious though, one pic of a guy in a suit with gun aiming down...what scenario do they give to make you shooot that guy? Nice hits on the bad guy with the knife and kid. Having young ones myself now I appreciate those scenarios more than I ever did on active duty. How many people have you encountered with an M4 through that course?
  24. That's outstanding! I've lived in Clark county for 10 years, never been to Pahrump. I only thought people with no teeth lived out there:D Thanks for the interesting info!
  25. Hi h.bowman, I'm curious what is meant by open carry in NV? You certainly wouldn't carry on your hip, uncovered, in a local supermarket and such. That may be legal in the strict sense of the law but it would be unwise unless you had a shield right next to it. You can get a CCW here without being a resident. You mean just keeping it in the car? I love NV... Battle Born.
