  1. I'm with you the site is really really nice. As far as the features go I think like most things its whatever the marketing wants you to believe. Like lock time, when was the last time you felt like you were limited by how fast your gun could physically shoot? Not that faster lock time isnt cool but sometimes you have to take things for what they are worth.
  2. There was the whole thread that you probably saw here: http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17908 I was pretty sure the Mesa came up in that thread but I might have been dreaming. You might see where cleefurd is on his rails to compare with the mesa one.
  3. I would think that 499 is a decent price for the combo, especially when you find out that the new benelli barrel would probably run you about that on its own. That nova isnt in 20ga is it? Thats the only reason I can think of that it would have a 3" chamber on the field barrel.
  4. Means that the shooter is much more important than the gun... If you can hit one bird in trap you should be able to hit them all...the gun obviously works
  5. I dont know why it would keep you from getting the mag tube, if you got one that was made in the US it would seem to me that you would be better off, as you would be a +1 to the US parts category. As far as prosecuting alone I doubt it, what are they going to do send ATF door to door looking for reciepts and/or stampings as to where all the parts came from?
  6. You just have to have dedication, if a little kid can handle it so can you:
  7. You probably should have put M4 in the subject line haha. I dont know sometimes the what gun should I get questions are hardest to answer. Me personally I had some of the same requirements you do and I chose the M2, I made a few mods to it and I love it to death. The only thing that I semi-regret about the whole benelli deal is the cost of new barrels and such but overall pretty happy. I've never been a big fan of porting so I cant say that I personally would port the barrel or the chokes but its your gun so that is really up to you. I have had good luck with both briley and carlson's aftermarket chokes but the factory benelli chokes work well so I dont think you would be losing much if you just left those in.
  8. Cost for barrels is pretty much prohibitive, there is a recent thread on here where a new barrel was going to run about $465, you can look for it it shouldnt be too far down. But I would ask a dealer to get a real live price. Given what you are using it for I dont think any of those guns would be bad. The only thing I would consider is weight, I think the monty is the lightest out of all of them, and I think that would be a definite plus if you do any amount of hunting. Its not a big deal at the range but if you are going to be walking around all day with it I think lighter is better. Whatever you end up getting I'm sure you'll like the heck out of it.
  9. I upgraded the bead on my M2 with the compsight from hiviz. I like the brighter bead better. I do mostly clay pigeons and deer, with some upland mixed in.
  10. how far does it come out from the receiver? looks like it casts a long shadow in that second picture.
  11. looks good except the part where I had to turn my head to look at it haha
  12. I completely agree, I didnt say he SHOULD do it, I just said he COULD do it haha. I was just going down that road because the prepositioning question made me think he was looking at ways to make it easier. But yes dont get me wrong, I would not recommend changing springs. Its much better to have some more effort getting it out at home when cleaning than to be on a hunt look down and wow your bolt handle is gone...
  13. the only thing I can think of is that when they say in stock they mean in stock in Italy...so it probably isnt worth it to them to send one or two over go through customs etc. So they might be waiting to send a sizeable amount. just my guess.
  14. [quote=MoJocvh;105251Thanks for the information re cocking lever, sooo just how hard do you have to try to get it back in? I am wondering if this difficulty in removal could be eased by pre positioning the bolt After getting it out putting it back in is really easy, its a push vs a pull motion so it seems like it takes less force. As far as prepositioning I doubt it would help, feel free to try things out I doubt you will break anything. The handle is held in by a ball in a groove. The only way I think you could make it easier is if you replaced the spring behind the ball with a lighter one.
  15. Yeah well I've got this super limited edition M2, I'm pretty sure mine is the only one with this serial number stamped on the side...so for a collector that is in love with that number, and the +2 mag extension, and the CUSTOM bolt release pad I'd say it would be worth at least $8000....
  16. what you could do is go down to a hardware store and find whats called a set screw that is the same (diameter/TPI etc) as what you use to mount the scope/rail and if you can get one short enough you should be all good for about $.30 out the door.

    VINCI

I dont understand why you are trying to compare the two. The M4 was made for fighting, the Vinci for hunting. Appples (I know thats not how its spelled but I think we all know what happens) and oranges I say. Now I agree that marketing for this Vinci gun has been uber extensive but I dont recall anything about it being marketed as a tactical gun. With this modular concept they have going maybe they will make a Vinci-T eventually but I guess we'll see...
  18. I have an M2 field that I added a +2 to. Initially without the plug I could get 3 in the tube and one in the chamber. Now with the extension I can get 5 easily in the tube (6 like I said with difficulty and it barely makes it in) and one in the chamber. I didnt see if we were talking about a tactical or a field so I guess I assumed field even though he said it was for home defense. Now the tactical may be a little different, because like I said that 6th shell in the magazine is very close, another 1/8" and it would really be in so thats why I thought it might be a spring space or maybe DMW +2 is a tad longer than the Choate +2 I got. Clarification is always a good idea lest we be talking about two different guns and not know it
  19. The NRA/ATF publish gun laws, I think the NRA does a nice job of summarizing. http://www.nraila.org/statelawpdfs/OHSL.pdf
  20. I'm completely with you on the +2, but I dont know that you can get 7 in. I have a +2 tube (granted not DMW) and it will comfortably put 5 in the tube and one in the chamber. If a really jam it I can barely get the 6th into the tube for the 7 you were talking about, but maybe your spring is a little more compact than mine...
  21. Well if you poke around the forum enough you would see that most people at one time or another have said something like: "Hey you guys I have *insert name of Benelli here* and I love it! The recoil isnt bad and it looks super awesome! I've never had a problem with any of the ammo I'm using, not even *insert name and specs of some light trap/dove load*!" So you want a Benelli...good choice...seems like you want it mostly for sporting with some hunting on the side so you chose one of the 2 shotguns that is designed toward sporting...again good choice...you want wood...eh wood is pretty but black synthetic is sexy so I dont know what to tell you on that one... The point of all that goofyness was that well you want a Benelli and I would say just about all of them would do just about anything easily so seeing as you seem to have made up your mind about which one you want so go and get it and you wont be disappointed.
  22. I dont think staying together will be an issue, the SBE2 has a 2 piece receiver and I think all know how that turned out. As far as recoil I dont know that it will kick harder, the only part that looks different to me is the recoil spring is now inside the receiver rather than being thrown down the stock.
  23. haha its ok, can you read this? good press back but WAIT! not yet, after you press back toward the top of the page on the left, just above the envelopes there is a button labeled new thread. PS I'm not trying to make fun of you, the explaination is much more funny if you could see the hand motions associated with it
  24. I'd be with you on that. The M4 was bred first and formost for war, so none of the other shotguns here are even in that league. It can't replace the SBE2 without a 3.5" capability. It is lightweight but I dont think that without being a little lighter and come with a wood option it replaces the ultralight/cordoba. Being hunting over sporting that leaves it with the M2. I dont know that it will end up replacing it I guess it depends on how popular it is. I love my M2 and to me the Vinci just isn't that much better that I would rush out and buy one.
  25. I'll just say I doubt it, not personally having a supernova you can take that however you want but the benelli website lists the Supernova under the standard choke set, whereas the M2 and SBE2 are under the Crio Plus set.
