  1. M1014 did you ever think about starting a M1014 picture thread and then just keep putting the pictures in there instead of creating a new thread each time....just a thought
  2. Should be easy peasy, just unscrew the factory bead, find the right screw that comes with the new sight and screw it in.
  3. Benelli M2, I use Federal top gun target 1oz, or estate 1oz target, no problems EVER.
  4. You might have saw this already: http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19875
  5. http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18189 Here is a thread where it was discussed before. I think it basically comes down to if you want a one or 2 piece receiver, and whether or not you have any plans to shoot 3.5" Sidenote, I was facing the same dilemma and I chose the M2, love it to death.
  6. I would imagine (not having talked to wardens about this issue) that if you plugged your magazine for 1 less you would be alright. Meaning if I made a plug that would limit the magazine to 1 round and I floated that would bring the total capacity of my gun to 3 just like it should be. I don't see what this mod buys you really, when I wanted more rounds I just slapped a mag tube extension on
  7. Lefty: I did see the speedbar you mentioned when I was researching this project, but it just wasn't the style I was looking for. Having the drill press is what made this even possible, I would not have done it if I had to drill the hole by hand. However, in all reality even if I bungled the hole all would not be lost. I would just take some of that "steel epoxy" (like what tucker used in his bolt mod) and filled in the hole. At that point the gun would still work but modding the button would be over. Ohio: Hahaha wow, I guess hadn't even considered all the possibilities...some advertising space perhaps?
  8. Thanks, well after a good long time of shooting with it, I can honestly say that the size and texture are working really well. I usually just make a fist and tap it and the bolt closes. So size is a plus but I definately would not make it any bigger, texture doesn't matter as much as I thought it would, it just takes so little effort to push the pad that there really is no need for heavy gripping. The charging handle is just the stock handle, I thought about replacing it with one from midway usa but I just havent gotten there yet. This charging handle has never caused me any problems.
  9. I would think it would also depend on the load you are using, hotter loads have more noise, so I dont think its necessarily a function of the gun you have vs the load you have.
  10. I doubt that they would have a left-handed pad until they have a left-handed vinci, if it makes you that uncomfortable I would suggest getting an aftermarket (say limbsaver) pad and just replace it now
  11. Agreed, especially if you are going to be putting heavy rounds through it I really dont think you will have any issues at all. I never properly broke-in my M2 but it chugs through light targets all day long.
  12. I think the two most important words in this story are "off-campus", on campus and this kid would have been done.
  13. Personally if I was desperate to make it work I would find a smith that has done/specializes in barrel chops. When you chop a barrel you have to take the sights off the front and move them back and I think that would be exactly the skill set needed to make this work. Finding the ring would also be extremely difficult. You could see if someone has a shot monte barrel and would give it to you for a song. Failing that it doesn't look that complex, so if you went to your local weld/machine shop you could probably get one made if you were desperate. Is it going to be worth it after all that? I dunno, how much is bragging to your friends that yours is the only monte in the world with a slug barrel worth?
  14. It will most definitely shoot slugs, mine isn't real accurate with slugs but I'm still looking for some it likes. However, if you are only carrying slugs for "just in case" you might not care much how accurate it is.
  15. Its ok Trap, we all go through the phase where his guns are pretty. That usually gives way to disappointment when you realize that those guns will hardly ever see sunlight, and will never see a shotshell... It might be easier to move on if the pictures weren't reposted about every 3 days, but you too will come to grips with it. Some shotguns just weren't meant to have fun....
  16. sounds tragic, let us know what comes out of all this.
  17. That phrase always puzzled me a bit...indeed they do not make a 46 but there is definitely such a thing as a 50....
  18. Up to right there I was going to say that your gun was working as it should and that it was just expectations that were off. Let me ask you this, if you put a round in the chamber, close the bolt, put some rounds in the magazine, then pull the trigger (not in the house obviously ) what happens?

While I do find that wood intriguing, I feel sorry for the poor thing, it will never see the light of day. It will never get to frolic in a field and meet other shotguns, it will never feel the joy of breaking that last clay. Tragedy...afterall deep down isn't that what we all want?
  20. Welcome to the forum, hopefully you find everything you need and more. Does the action cycle slowly all the time? Does it work with any loads at any time? The reason I ask is if it only cycles slow in cold weather I would look more at what oil/lube you were using in the action than the recoil spring.

    Benelli M2

Well the explaination I can come up with is that you were totally sucked in by benellis good marketing and so your expectations were off. The recoil comparison charts look great, and they are probably accurate, but if you read the marketing long enough when you shoulder a benelli you are going to expect the recoil of a .410 and be severely disappointed. The rep and some forum members around here give that look because there have been lots of people that have got on here and basically said "I don't get it, the gun has recoil?" That said I have had my M2 for a while now and you will get used to it. I use mine mostly for trap/skeet (pesky short hunting seasons...) and initially I thought it had more recoil than what I thought it should. But a few thousand rounds later and I can shoot all day without any soreness. You will end up liking it, just give it a thousand rounds to work its magic .
  22. While a pencil may work, I would recommend a dowel rod more. You can go down to a hardware store and get a good sized (thickness and length) dowel rod for about $1. Plus if you decide you need a different plug for more or less rounds, or you end up putting a full length tube on you will have more than enough dowel left to make it happen. The pencil looks a little hokey and the DNR guys might give you crap about it but it should be legal as you are physically limiting the tube.
  23. First off welcome to the forum, hopefully you will find all you are looking for and more. Hookster did a good job of explaining the first choke situation so you can figure out what you have. As far as the rifled barrel, you can probably get one, but it is going to be expensive. Like you can buy a remington 870 rifled instead kind of expensive. So look around a place like gunbroker or go to your dealer and see what they say. As for rifled choke tube, much cheaper but I don't know how well they work yet. As far as squirrels go that kind of depends on how far away you are from them, but my first inclination would be to use the most open choke you have (Cylinder/Improved Cylinder) so as not to completely pulverize the little critters when you hit them.
  24. Trap with IC is pushing it as far as I'm concerned, I just think the pattern is too loose by the time it gets out to the bird. Personally I use Mod or Improved Mod for trap. One thing I would suggest if you are semi-serious is to pattern your gun with your new and old chokes. Not only will you see the differences but you can see where your gun shoots and you'll know just that much more.

    Youth Models

If you are looking at things other than benellis I have a mossberg youth gun (pump) that I have been nothing but happy with. I take it to the gun club specifically for smaller shooters and it works great.
