You can't go wrong with a beretta 390. You can usually find them at wal mart for around $550. Best gun made for that price.

If you get a new spring, be sure to replace the mag follower if it is the plastic one. These caused alot problems when they got a little wear on them. benelli has since replaced the plastic with aluminum followers.

I love the small gun stores but with most that I have bought guns from, when you leave the store it's your problem. I have to give Bass Pro a plug, They stuck by me through some major issues with benelli. It all worked out and now all is fine. Good luck.

Well I see you guys are still at it. I will say though it's alot more interesting then hearing about how many drops of clp it takes to keep my gun from jamming. By the way splash a 22 may work better . Not near as many shot to pick out.

Don't know what's causeing these stove pipes, but they do have a problem. We've got two on the way back with the same issues.

I'm one of the few that has had some issues with mine but the folks at bass pro shops and the cs at benelli has been great. With alot of companies and dealers, When you get the gun in your hands it's yours. Neither bass pro or benelli has done me like that. My problems has been theirs. You have got to respect a dealer and company that stands behind their products.

Mine is on the way back to benelli for the 3rd time with the same problems. I've been through the cleanings, different oils and different shells too. I think that there is an under laying problem with some of the sbe IIs that may be causeing this that they can't figure out. The magnum rounds that I shoot should have plenty of power to cycle. Not all of these guns are haveing these problems only a few. Duck season is over now so they have plenty of time to work the bugs out while I fish. Good luck with yours and maybe they've figured the problem out and can fix mine too.

NJ, Did you get your gun straightened out? If so what did you find was the problem?

I had a couple of problems at first with mine. But after 3 trips back to benelli and bass pro getting involved they have mine working perfect. It's the best fitting gun out today. As far as being worth $1500 + I don't know about that, but mine is a killing machine now. By the way NJ what did you ever do about the problems you were having?

On the new sbe IIs I've seen better results with over oiling than just 2 or 3 drops. Spray the carrier on the inside and wipe off the excess. You will have to clean them more often but that's not as hard as explaining to your buddies why a $1500 gun is jamming.

If you're lucky enough to have wood ducks I like to soak the breast de-boned and cut up in 1" chunks in zesty italian for about 24 hrs and then wrap in bacon and put on the grill until med well. Have plenty because they get ate up fast.

The federal all purpose dove loads are 3 dram 1 1/8 oz. I know of a few sbe IIs having trouble with these shells. Mostly feeding problems. Mine even shoots the cheaper estate 1 oz fine but it don't like the federals. It's the only shell I've seen any problems out of.

Also check the bottom of the bolt for any rough spots. When mine came back from benelli I noticed that the bottom of the bolt had been polished pretty good. I use plenty of oil too. Makes you have to clean it a little more often but seems to cycle alot smoother. As the gun gets broken in the extra oil won't hurt and I think the hard spot in the cycle will go away on its own. Problem is that you don't know when it will hang again. If it's on a dove it's not a big deal but when you need that second shot on a big buck then you've got problems. Hope some of these things work because I've been there too.

NJ, If your gun is camo check the rails for paint build up. This can cause a rough spot in the cycle. This can be fixed with some fine sand paper carefully sand the inside of the rails and re oil them. How did the other shells work for you?

Hang up or lock up,the bolt should close unless the cartridge lever has been depressed when you cycle the empty gun.

I've never seen another sbe II lock up when manually working the bolt without a shell unless the cartridge lever has been depressed. Probably need to check out NJ's previous posts.

Hearing the spring is normal. The bolt locking back is not. You have the same problem I did. Your gun is the fourth I've heard about doing this. I don't know what causes the problem and from talking to the folks at benelli they don't either. I know you hate the hassle of sending it back but I believe thats the only way you'll get it fixed. When they fixed mine they replaced the trigger assembly and that seemed to solve the problem. If you push up on the shell carrier when manually cycling the bolt will lock back just like your's is doing. There must be a slight tolerance problem in some of thier parts. If you do find out why your gun does this let me know so I can pass it on. Good luck.

With my sbe II the mod messes up the ducks pretty bad at 25 to 30 yrds. I had to drop back to the improved. Better put it on the paper to be sure.

Good gun, if you get it spend the extra $$ on the recoil reducer if you're shooting the 3 1/2" shells. It's a light gun and carries a pretty good punch. The reducer adds some weight but is easily removed for lighter loads. Looks like a better duck season in N.C. this year.

Mine did exactly that. Save yourself time and money and let the warrenty cover it. I spent over a month changeing oil and shells. If the gun is right it will fire anything 3 drams and up. And mine does fine with almost any kind of gun oil since they replaced my trigger assembly and polished the bolt and rails. Good luck and keep us informed
