I've been checking out recoil pads, and one of the gunsmiths I use (he has installed hundreds) pointed out the issues with the Limbsaver (it will take a permanent set if deformed for one). So now I'm going with the Decelerator.

You want to make sure the bolt carrier is well lubed at the receiver rails, all the surfaces where the bolt and bolt carrier interface, and at the rear of the bolt carrier where the recoil link is attached (recoil link pin).

As for getting a wood stock for your M4, due to the way the stock mounts to both the receiver and the recoil spring tube the only way I see you getting that arrangement is to have a cu$tom one-off made.

I've picked up a very nice original Winchester Model 12 shotgun a couple of years ago. It had hardly been used. I got it to make a PDW/short HD shotgun out of it. When I removed the plug I found that it was the original plug and it was simply a wooden dowel with the following printed on it: WINCHESTER MOD 01 97 12 ALL GA 2 3/4" 3" SHELL So a 3/8 - 1/2" wooden dowel will work fine as a plug on your M4. I seriously doubt Johnny Law will give you any grief over having a wooden dowel as a plug. I do know that Benelli actually makes a plug which consists a metal disc attached to an aluminum rod (IIRC). I'll check to see if I still do. As for a Benelli made synethetic conventional field stock, unless you find a deal where someone is unloading one, the best price you'll find is $165.00 from a Benelli dealer.

Because it's built 'mil-spec' for use on the battlefield. If you're unwilling to go the expense then the FN SLP is a gas gun also and it already comes with a hi-cap mag. It's just not as versatile and open to various options like the M4.

I've a friend who obtained a collapsible stock from someone who ordered one from Benelli before they restricted the sales of them. Not realizing it was a two piece stock he only ordered the sliding butt section and not the pistol grip that goes along with it. Now that Benelli has restricted the sales of these parts he can't get the PG from Benelli. So if anyone has one of these pistol grips for the collapsible stocks or knows where to get one, please PM me. TIA

Took a look at your auction, that's a smoking deal for someone. You might want to edit your listing to say, "this M4 has the very desirable latest two port barrel which is in improvement correcting an issue with the original four port design."

If you can change a light bulb then you can remove the stock, take a look, and then re-assemble it according to the instructions Unobtanium posted. The only part of the re-assembly that 'appears' difficult at first is getting the trigger group assembly back in, you just have to make sure you depress the bolt release button when putting the trigger group assembly back into the receiver. Piece of cake really.

Bear in mind that when the IRS answers questions they often give conflicting answers to the same question, so imo it's best to cya relative to the answer to the 3rd question and leave no doubt as to the circumstances. When there's any doubt gov.org agents always act in their own favor.

The distinction is whether or not the recoil tube will allow for the telescoping buttstock to be functional rather than just fixed at fully extended. This would only be of value to those interested in installing the telescoping buttstock and have it actually function. A correct recoil tube for this purpose is in the neighborhood of $200, so it's attractive to those who wish to put on a telescoping buttstock. My 11707 manufactured last year came with a fixed PG buttstock yet the recoil tube is the 3 position recoil tube, so a telescoping buttstock would work on mine like it was intended to if I were to install it on a 922r compliant gun.

Choate makes shell followers, but those are not marked 'Made in USA' in anyway. I suggest some of us test those to make sure they're reliable. Fred said he's going to check his shell follower for fit in the M4, once I hear back on that I will post that update.

Fred said they also briefly considering making the FL tubes, but due to the right size material being readily available economically for them they decided against that as well. Telling him that DMWs is selling FL steel tubes for Yes, I did mention the phantom Ti FL tubes to him. Internal fire control parts were also discussed, but that's not moving forward right now. I will persist with him and some other contacts I have including Chip McCormick.

I'm seriously considering this option also, however I've been in touch with Fred, the owner of Choate M&T, and I'm trying to persuade him to make knock-offs of the stock forend. He indicated he didn't see enough demand to warrant the investment of roughly 50k into the injection molds to produce the forends, however he agreed that it was 'a money pit' gun in that people who buy an expensive gun like the M4 are subject to spending even more money on them. However everyone on this forum is more frugal than that, right? I'd love to see enough demand for Choate to be inclined to produce 922r compliance parts. He did say they had briefly considered making buttstocks including telescoping butts, but again he was unable to see it being profitable for them due to limited demand. Please post photos when you can, I'm very interested in seeing some detail of the KZ piece from various perspectives.

If there's an American flag on the receiver it will be clearly visible located below the ejection port.

The ports are in the barrel adjacent to the two gas pistons (as you referred to as two cylinders which house the pistons), and the gas vented from the ports actuates the gas pistons. The initial design called for four ports, two for each piston, but that was later revised to just one port per piston. It's a very simple matter to remove the magazine tube cap and pull the barrel/upper receiver assembly off the gun. Then you can view through the barrel from the breach end, and the port arrangement will be very obvious - there will either be two or four ports.

There's a two letter code on the barrel near the receiver. He's doing prison time now, and for what? Something far less egregious than some nitpicking 922r compliance. Even someone from Olympic Arms was there at his trial ready and willing to testify in David Olofson's defense (about a recall on that particular production series), yet the judge wouldn't allow it. That testimony would have exonerated David Olofson. This is only one example how overzealous g-men can turn your life upside down. This was the same trial where a BATF agent on the stand testified that a double barrel shotgun would qualify as a 'machinegun' under some circumstances. Don't be asinine (an inexcusable failure to excercise intelligence or sound judgment).

From my understanding, you still won't comply with the 922r nonsense. By the 13 part count, you need two more 'made in usa' parts other than the 'made in usa' magazine tube.
