  1. I am a believer in the break-in process. These guns are machined to high standards, tight standards, and they need to be shot with some heavy stuff to knock off the tight edges, if you will. Some don't need it, some do. Lube it well, including the bolt rails, shoot some heavy loads through it, keep it tight on your shoulder, and it should be just fine. If you don't run some high brass through it, it will be o.k., it will just take longer to get the break-in process over with. I have a Vinci, and it shoots great. Enjoy your new gun..Mike
  2. Nice bird, 308. Looks like you had a good season..Good for you. Congrats..Mike
  3. They are just threaded through a buckel. Takes two minutes to do..Mike
  4. I had to modify the swivels on the SBE, because I didn't like the angle that the forearm swivel was on. I took one from one of my other slings that I did not use, and it was fine. The sling itself is what you want. You may have to play with the swivels to get what you like. No big deal..Mike
  5. Nice. One less terrorist watermelon to worry about.
  6. I use The ''Claw''. It is one of the few that I have found that stays put on your shoulder. It does not slide down, like the most of them..I have them on all my guns that require a sling..Mike
  7. It will make little difference. The choke is the determining factor. I turkey hunt with a SBE, 24'' bbl. No problem. I like the 24'', because of the maneuverability of it. (In a blind, if used). I have both the Nova and SuperNova in 24''. If that's what you want, don't hesitate. It will deliver..Good luck with your decision..Mike
  8. Congrats on the nice birds. Pictures are awesome. I saw the video on O.G...Well done, Hawghuntr. Looks like fun..Mike
  9. Congrats on the nice bird. You will never go wrong when Mudhen, Tucker and a bunch of the others give advice. They are the real deal. I.C and Hevi-13 do a Benelli Proud..Well done..Mike
  10. I use Kroil. Rem-Oil does not get very good reviews on this forum..Lots of guys use Break Free CLP, A great product as well.
  11. Congrats, Mudhen. Looks like you had yourself a great time in Nebraska. Nice birds and great pictures. Thanks for sharing..Mike
  12. Congrats, Novaking. Nice looking bird. Is it one and done in Ill.? Mike
  13. I have a pair of the pre-HD Golden Rings. I love the heck out of them. Mine are the straight power 10x42's. Can't really help you out with the switch powers, but you gotta believe that they would be up to the Leupold standard. Good luck with you choice..Mike
  14. Thanks. I bought an Indian Creek, and I think I am going to try a Rhino and/or a Pure Gold to compare them. I actually turkey hunt with a SBE l. Don't know if there is a difference in how the SBE l patterns vs. the SBE ll. I have a pretty hot set-up with a Hastings .660 and Win.Hi-Vel #6's. Just looking for a better mousetrap. May be switching to the Hevi-13's. I've got 11 months to play with it. Thanks Buddy..Mike
  15. Well done, Tucker. Nice bird.. What choke and shells do you shoot out of that SBE ll? Mike
  16. Well done. Very nice bird. I like the rig also.
  17. This is the bird I shot in Mi. 18#, 9'' beard. He had kind of a funky, curley "Q'' beard.
  18. He was 19#. Had a 9 1/2'' beard, and 1 1/8'' spurs.
  19. This is the turkey that I shot on the opener in Wi.
