Duggan Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Just in case some of you live under rocks and this is the first time you've seen this ... http://www.nrahq.org/nrabonus/ The NRA is giving out free one year memberships, no strings attached. Free American Rifleman mag, complete with lots of ads and bullsh$t etc, but if you're too cheap to normally join here is your chance. Quote
tucker301 Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 You can also get a lifetime membership for $300, with sponsorship from another lifetimer. This offer expires 3-31-2009. 1-800-672-3888 Your sponsor will provide you with a family member registration code. Quote
sdkidaho Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 A free bit of advice: Do NOT put your phone number in your registration. I'm all for the NRA, but I cannot stand receiving 5 to 10 phone calls a WEEK asking for money. That is why I discontinued my membership years ago. This time around when I paid to sign up again I left out my phone number - life is much better. I still get at least one mailer a week (if not two or three) asking for money, but those are much easier to deal with than a pushy sales droid on the phone. . Quote
sdkidaho Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Also, something to consider - the whole point of being a member of the NRA is to help support the work they do to fight for our gun rights. Joining up for a free membership doesn't accomplish that. Even if the only thing you do is pay for the $25 membership, well... at least that is "something" rather than just signing up for a free magazine subscription. It costs money to fight for our rights and I'm certain that every little bit helps. Liken it to a free membership to your favorite waterfowl organization. What good would that do in helping waterfowl? Something to consider anyway... . Quote

HOGWILD Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I signed up in Jan for Distinguished Lifetime Membership and have recieved NO phone calls or junk mail! 300.00 bucks is less than what i paid, sounds like a deal. I did recieve a ballot for voting on the Officers recently! Quote
agm65ccip Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 thats funny that you say that, I'm a lifer and I never get called...I do get some mail but not even the volume you are talking about...just funny thats all :-) Quote
alisske Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I just called for the life membership and they told me that my uncle needs to "give me" the membership and he has to be the one to pay for it. (in other words, I give him the dough and he pays for it) Quote
Mr Slugo Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I give him the dough and he pays for it Freedom ain't free, why should the NRA be? Sadly, the NRA just hasn't been the same since Uncle Chucky (Mr. Heston to them Liberal Socialist Tree Hugging Commies!) passed, and the NRA no longer has a great man {"Dubya" to his friends and fraternity brothers} in the White house. A tear stained tribute to a great man here>>> We all know that in the USA our government is based on the FACT that "people who have the guns , make the rules!" per Wayne La Pierre himself. So, join the NRA and rule America!! It may not be free, nor is it tax deductible , but it will get get you lots&lots&lots &lots of Action Alerts about the evil doers who wish to defile our Second Amendments rights. {And maybe get ya an official NRA tote bag too!} Quote
Duggan Posted March 27, 2009 Author Posted March 27, 2009 I've never gotten any begging calls from the NRA. I get wine offers from time to time, and updates. Nothing that I mind ... I've never been called. As far as not paying for a membership defeating the purpose, they are obviously trying to increase their membership base, which can have a much greater effect than losing your $25 for one year. It gives them more clout to lobby with, and it increases the chance of return customers in the future, this time PAYING customers after their year wears off. Either way, the NRA wouldn't be offering this if it wasn't to their benefit to do so. Oh, and you're welcome Quote
UNSC_WARRIOR Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Offer doesn't seem to be available to canadians... Quote
Mr. Shotgun Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I went to their website and signed up for the 5 year membership for $125, but I declined from getting any mailings or magazines.... Quote
Duggan Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 Offer doesn't seem to be available to canadians... Weird. I guess they only care about people that can vote? Quote
