M2_shootr
Been debating this for a while. Was wanting a QD sling socket or my M4 c stock. Tried a few models from IWC, was not happy with the fit. So, I ordered a QD socket from Noveske. I’ve used these before on AR rifle stocks and they have worked wonderfully. When installed the QD socket is nearly flush, only stits about 1/16” above the base material I’ve also considered machining the IWC mount to get it to sit better into the sling loop in the stock body. What works for you? Edited December 23, 2017 by M2_shootr
Jolly Roger
Doesn't the hole thats already there fit the swivel?
M2_shootr
Doesn't the hole thats already there fit the swivel? Nope....doesn’t accept a QD attachment.
Evolution
Nice job! Even the the OEM PG and field stocks leave much to be desired with that stupid 1" sling plate they come with. I bought the NOVESKE replacement plate with the QD socket to replace the useless plate that comes in the PG stock. Wonder why they don't supply it with a sling plate to accommodate a 1-1/4" wide sling, which is like 95% of all slings.
M2_shootr
I wondered that myself.......guess a 25mm sling is common overseas?
Evolution
Thing is, the front sling point attachment on the M4 accommodates a 1-1/4" sling so, why not the rear?!?!
StrangerDanger
What didn’t you like about the IWC Mount? Be careful with that QD Mount through the cheek rest. That plastic isn’t very thick and it can crack or deform if you’re hard on it. The only real support comes from those three screws through the top. Agreed on the sling plates on the field and pistol grip stock. Their sizing is retarded and meant for carrying it like ofnyour were slinging up in world war 2. M2_shootr
The IWC mount didn’t fit well, a bit of machine work on the mount would have helped out
StrangerDanger
Was your issue with the screws or just how the base fits on the sling slot? It’s certainly not perfect, but I never had a functional issue with it.
AVATactical.com
Elzetta also makes a dual sided QD mount, or did, that fits through that slot. I'd carry them, but Elzetta's pricing on them makes it prohibitive.

It’s certainly not perfect, but I never had a functional issue with it. Mainly how the base interacted with the slot. I think I may give it another go. A bit of blending to the base should get it to where I want it. I understand your point about the QD socket in the cheek rest......may have been a bad idea. StrangerDanger
I did the same thru the plastic on some handguards before we had all the current options, I was always worried it was going to rip out the guard. If it were braced from the opposite side it would be a lot safer.
M2_shootr
A bit of light filing got the mount to where it would snugly fit into the slot.
Unobtanium
Honestly? I just use the fixed PG stock and bolt-on solution from Limbsaver. It ends up the same LOP, anyway.

I suppose that would work well, IF I wanted to use the fixed stock body.

Tried a few models from IWC, was not happy with the fit. So, I ordered a QD socket from Noveske. I’ve used these before on AR rifle stocks and they have worked wonderfully. The socket needs a 1/2” hole drilled in the material for mounting. The material needs to be 1/4” or there abouts. A square 5/8” nut secures the socket, ends up being a strong setup. When installed the QD socket is nearly flush, only stits about 1/16” above the base material Here is a pic of my rear C stock mount. No drilling. Very strong mounting platform. Mounted for several years under heavy use. Blessings... Edited December 22, 2017 by bodybuilder

I believe a bit of blending would help it considerably. Thought I would try something else....never hurts.
