  1. I can't
  2. What are the California-specific waterfowl hunting regulations?
  3. Sounds like a perfect gun to me I set my SBE II to do exactly what you are describing - I aim at the base of the neck or slightly below - and the pattern rips into the head area. I have found over the past 30 years or so of turkey hunting that blocking out the head does not work well for me - too many things can go wrong. This way I can watch the head all the way up to the shot.

    M2 slug gun

Ok, the slug barrel is thicker and needs the slug forearm. But the regular barrel works with the slug forearm, a bit loose, but it works. M2slugger did it right - buy the slug gun and then add a regular barrel.
  5. Yes, I doo........
  6. I've been using Wolff springs for many years. All my Benellis have fed whatever I give them, factory springs or Wolff springs, so I can't really say if the Wolff springs are 'better'. I buy the Wolff springs just because I heard they were good. They seem to work fine.
  7. Exotics in fenced areas. Seems silly to me. Although I would NEVER turn down an invite to shoot something tasty like a nilgai
  8. Yes, you don't understand how effective Hevi Shot is. With some premium steel already at $20+ per 25 shells, Hevi Shot at $38 per 25 is not that bad. If you can find Remington's new Wingmaster cheap, they have a rebate that gets the price down to almost $20 per 25. The performance simply wipes steel off the map, period. The stuff is deadly. I don't go out trying to kill helpless animals with inferior ammunition. I try to kill animals with the best products I can afford. Does anyone 'need' a $50,000 truck to drive to their hunting place? Does anyone 'need' a $20,000 boat to catch bass? What does 'need' have to do with anything anyway 'Want' is the key word
  9. Love them all for the most part. Wayne Pearson is more boring than watching paint dry, and Knight and Hale are not much better. Other than that, I like them all. Anything from Primos is good for me, same for Roadtrips. Better than Tour De France, Bull Riding, Project Runway, American Idol, etc.

    SBE2 & Nasty Kick

I don't know what to say I've been shooting the SBE since 1991 with no ill effect. Each spring I'll test maybe 100 3.5" turkey loads, and while it's not exactly fun, it's no big deal and I have been doing this for almost 20 years. A good year waterfowling for me is 4-6 cases of magnum steel shot. Sounds like you should stick to your dad's 2.75" Sears 12 gauge so you can shoot all day long. If I had to just guess what the problem is, I'd have to say you are just a person that is sensitive to recoil. I doubt you can toughen up at this point in your life. I'd sell the gun and maybe shoot a gas action 20 gauge with very light loads. Maybe have the gun ported and have a very soft recoil pad added.
  11. The only con I can think of with inertia guns is related to the pro I like about gas guns. Inertia guns tend to be underbored. Many gas guns are overbored. With lead, I find little difference. With steel shot, I find that overbored barrels tend to throw better patterns than underbored barrels, especially with larger steel shot. This is why I shoot several Benellis and several gas autos.
  12. Not anymore. I'll get out 50-60 days this year, and I like January hunts better than October hunts. I'll toss a few decoys in the rice the evening before opening day, and add to them all season long. It's a marathon not a sprint for me
  13. I think this is a question for Impact Guns. Don't know what Benelli ships with factory spare barrels or even if you bought a factory spare barrel.
  14. Ummm, I think that's because the top brands sell so many more guns than the lesser brands. I could be wrong, but didn't Remington just sell it's 1,000,000th 870 or something like that? I've bought and sold 12+ Benellis just because I can. Unless by most people you mean all five AL-48 owners Use your noggin on this one - think about it for awhile - it will come to you

    Dear Benelli

Well known issue, well known. Identical bbl ID's is probably not going to happen any time soon, not at any BH company. They are bored out with cutters. Cutters wear down until the bores are out of spec. Some like the SBE range from .718+- to .723+- and have always been that way. Don't think they use many subs for barrel making. Franky makes many of their barrels and Franky is a division of BH. You think $1600+ is high? What would they cost if each barrel was bored with only one cutter??? But yes, it does cause some problems, especially when trying to find choke & load combinations. I've had very finicky Benellis, Novas mostly.
  16. Yes.......
  17. Here's how it's supposed to work in general: If you don't use the beads, which many wingshooters do not, you may be able to change the shims to move your POI around. The drop shims can change drop, the cast shims can change cast. I believe ZZ offers the least drop and C offers the most drop. What many do, myself included, is to place large paper targets out at a reasonable range, say 25 yards, and just place a small dot in the middle of the large blank target. From a standing position, take a fairly quick snap shot at the small dot. Maybe do this 3-4 times w/o looking at your pattern closely. Long rolls of butcher paper are great for this. This should give you an idea of where your gun patterns when you are shooting it. If you want to change the POI, work with the shims accordingly.
  18. Sounds about right
  19. I'm not really a big camo fan, but there are some I like. For turkeys, it's MO Break Up. For ducks, it's MO Brush because it blends into the rice and other places I hunt. Max1 is cool for big game, so is the new MO Tree Stand. mudhen
  20. Benellis tend to shoot high - it's by design - many Euro guns shoot high. My SBE II shot high even with the C shim, so I ground down the A shim, which I will never use, and added it to the C shim to make a poor man's D shim (a D shim is not available in the 2 series guns). Enough folks complain about the high shooting that I would think Benelli would have made a shim change by now. Some folks have had luck changing beads to change POI, but that only works if you are using the beads to aim, which many wingshooters do not. I've got two new Brownings BPS's that that shoot maybe 18" low. I guess I should not buy any Browning products. What should I do with the six Brownings already in the safe Or maybe I could spend $5 and change the beads? Much more fun to bash I think.... Nice first post btw - just couldn't resist the bashing Also btw, to anyone that doesn't like my reply, save it, you must have me confused with someone that cares.....
  21. I usually just use a wet rag. None of the solvents I have used has harmed the finish, but bug spay with DEET will melt the finish for sure
  22. Is it a hex head nut or the old version? It may have the factory lock-tite or maybe even rusted into place. I've had to use a lot of heat to remove original recoil tube nuts in the past on some Benellis. I don't use lock-tite after that, I just check to make sure all is tight.
  23. Does Benelli make knee high rubber boots? It's gettin' a bit deep in here
  24. C&H makes them for the stock. They are thinner. You will need to call them directly to verify which version to order. Nice folks - they should be able to fix you right up
  25. Sounds like you already bought the prefit Sims pad, so I would not go out and buy another pad just yet. I hate the method of attachment for the Sims pad on the SBE II & Nova. Yes, you have to use the adaptor. You will have to put the screws (resuming they enclosed the correct ones) all the way into the pad so their full length sticks out. Then, spend the afternoon trying to line up the screw holes on the adaptor. If you do get lucky enough to get both screws in the right holes, tighten them up and the pad should fit into place. Good luck - my Sims pad is in the box somewhere in the garage
