  1. gun, 3-tubes (IC,M,F), tube wrench, registration card, and owners manual. -the factory full should work fine ... as usual tho... pattern the gun first with different loads -then- make your decision based on what you see... do a search for others opinions and results.
  2. I've had good luck with the high-tech grease (syringe applicator) on my tubes.
  3. thanx guys I'll look into all three. I've been runnin' around looking the past few days and the d@mn stores don't have my size in what I've been interested in.... go figure! so I'm going to call to Cabela's and the Orvis retailer here to verify things first .. Cabela's is some 2 hours away same with Orvis dealer .. but in opposite directions of each other Thanx again guys!
  4. I just got done checking my equipment and my Herters neoprene waders are going to get cut up for something.. what i don't know for certain yet but they're retired as of now. What have you all noticed to be the best bang for your buck concerning the neoprenes lately? thanx -birdog-
  5. yea ... was a real good time.
  6. Once again, fit and feel should be your top priority here skyking. The two guns are entirely different. Handle both at the same time with optomistic views I bet as soon as you change guns back and forth a few times holding then shouldering rapidly with a good cheek weld and open eyes.... then close them, shoulder with good cheek weld then open your eyes ... you'll 'feel' which one you should purchase. good luck
  7. Two entirely different guns BenelliBoy .. FIB said it all with pick which ever feels better in hand/on shoulder. The 11-87 gas system is going to be a bit more of a pain to deal with but, a solid gun for sure. The M-1 ... another solid choice! You can get both guns with either wood or synthetic furniture so stick to the fit and feel of your decision as FIB stated. just thoughts.... One other gun I'd take a serious look at BenelliBoy is the Beretta 391 Urika. As for gas guns it sweeps the 11-87 under the rug in my opinion. but thems just a few educated thoughts... 8. Yes, the reciever is a modified M1 reciever ... just would need to: - replace the barrel - remove the rear peep sight - remove the sight rail - install a limiter plug Then the Practical would be more 'practical' for waterfowling.

    M1 Super 90

all of them in the M1 line
  10. I don't know anything about the XCoil other than HiViz markets it. Kick-Eeze pads have a good reputation also. I've got a few, I believe they're the all purpose models and I'm happy with them. Sorbothane, the stuff their made of, is some wonder material i guess but who knows 'cause it's a company claim.
  11. Hi Tavis - I shoot clays .. but not at this level (can't recall who's in the picture - just thought it was a cool shot w/smoking barrel I suprised myself with the timing). I end up going to alot of shoots .. and the Outdoor Games have been some that I've enjoyed watching. At this level these guys(and gals) have been choosen among the best in the country and throwing them together like this seems to bring out the best of the best. Yea .. some guys can break targets all day but, mental toughness isn't something that normally comes with shooting ability. I've seen myself how some guys that i hunt/shoot with are crazy shots ... really good. Then, you put them in front of a few folks they don't know and they loose all conotrol... too self conscious and unable to relax and just shoot. So I like going to this event ... especially to watch the younger shooters and how they handle it. Congrats on the win. Good luck in the future!
  12. shell waster - pictures of the Elk would be good to see. Might even motivate me to take up a old high school friend on an invite to NM. He's been guiding muzzle loader hunts for close to 10yrs. and I've yet to make it down there except for his wedding. No prob with the camera advice. Look into the kodak.
  13. Hi Robert - Washington grows it commercially so I guess it will depending on the area/body of water. [ 07-12-2004, 05:40 PM: Message edited by: birddog ]

  15. WOW!!! I'd love to see Elk out in the land I hunt!! You are truely blessed!! Are you sending applications in? For that, I would!! Best meat on earth, in my opinion, is from a cow Elk ...a bull is second. Well shell ... I'm not the the best tech-gadget person to ask but, seeing as I just went through the whole ordeal with buying one I found that the best for my money was the Kodak EasyShare DX6490 (HAS CAMCORD ABILITY!!) . My deciding factors where: quality, ease-of-use, abilities and features, and last but not least price ... retail somewhere @ $350 at Best Buy. - 4.0 MegaPixel resolution - 10X Optical Zoom, 3.0 Advanced Digital Zoom (30X total Zoom) - blah,blah,blah..... The list goes on and on as far as features go and I've yet to learn how to utilize them all but, for what I wanted it for and use it for ... I'm pleased as a lark with it! If you want more info or an explanation of all the tech jargon I can help (a bit) explain things in laymans terms ... I was boggled until someone helped me understand what each # this and that # that meant. Actually, the salesman(kid) was very helpful too. [ 07-12-2004, 08:31 AM: Message edited by: birddog ]
  16. Just got back from the Quarterfinals and Finals tonight here in Madison, WI and it went down to the wire for the gold with a shoot-off between 17yr. old Travis Mears from Burleson, TX (Beretta) and Veteran Robbie Purser (Browning) of Macon, GA. Sudden death, best-of 5 with the rate dropping from 3.5 seconds between targets to 2.5 proved too much for Purser hitting 4/5 and Mears shrugging the preasure and nailing 5/5. Gold goes to 17yr. old Travis Mears. fun night!! [ 07-11-2004, 12:19 AM: Message edited by: birddog ]
  17. yea, there's a preferance points system here in WI for Bear that requires you to send in applications between 5 and 9 years (depending on the zone) until you earn enough preference points to have a chance ... and if you're picked you better go because after your eligability/year/season expires ... you're points go back to 0 and you start all over again. 57,000 applications for 4,700 tags last year. I've never applied and don't wish to I guess but, a cousin of mine here laid claim to the third largest in the state last fall it was over 500#. Said it was pretty simple hunting and the biggest thrill he got out of it was getting it registered and to the taxidermist to have it scored. Just hope the deer stick around like they have been .. seen a few Bucks in velvet along the road but nothing in the woods ....just hope their there when season opens! 25. Great review Lazy Engineer. What's your take on the chevrons getting full of mud & crud while hunting? Seems they'ld be a pain in the rear to clean out fully...?
