  1. chokes vary on conditions and birds ... Pheasant wild birds- Federals 'Pheasants-Forever' loads 2-3/4" with 1oz. of #4 or #5 copper plated lead at Max Dram. Eq. reving at 1240fps. pen birds- Federals 'Game-Shok' 2-3/4" with 1oz. of #5 or #6 lead no idea on the Dram. Eq. but rev at 1220fps Grouse/woodcock steel- Federals old steel 'Duck and Pheasant' loads with #7 steel - I don't remember what Dram. Eq. they were at but i think they reved at around 1300fps ...?? don't recall .. the new line of Federals 'Speed-Shok' replaced the line so I'll be testing that out when my supply lessens. lead- usually shoot left-over sporting clays loads of 1oz #8 magnum lead shot ... think they're at around 1300 fps but not too sure. after that its Federals older 'upland' loads of 1oz #7's Dram. Eq. 3.25 at around 1200fps. hope this helps
  2. Desperante .... what you actually want is a .223 rifle...
  3. I'd get an aftermarket pad for a 12ga. model if you plan on shooting heavy/ high reving loads
  4. I've got both and I'll say that I'm biased to my Wingmaster but, the Nova has been doin' fine.
  5. remember guys ... it's not just the amount/weight of shot .. it's the relation of all the components, mainly the relation between amount/weight of shot and powder charge related to velocity within' a certain combination... as wallhanger said the X2 is a decent gun - Fastest cycling shotgun too- (Yes! faster than any Benelli) I don't like 'em however .. personal thing. it's a roll of the dice with lighter loads for either ...
  6. just put one on there Notox
  7. have tried the kent .. but, Hevi-shot is where its at NoTox ... bi-pass the remington loads and go directly to Hevi-Shot/Envirometal and purchase theirs ... I'm not a fan of remingtons hunting loads. start with their 2-3/4" offerings in #4 and #6 shot then go from there. You'll be happy you did! sorry - no experience with the Blackwater FUD decoys.
  8. FIB ... the monte is an entirely different gun .. more slim .. lighter .. dimensionally different in both the drop at comb and heel the Monte can also carry 1 more shell then the M1 ... M1 design is more towards hunting with the Monte design leaning in the direction of the shooting sports... the two guns feel entirely different in the hand also.. hope this helps
  9. Buddy Timothy - that's an interesting way of looking at it ....
  10. they're on their way ...
  11. both .. it's the combination of the two.
  12. quote by Drundel that's a ditto on Drundels advice first off... second ... give it time. it may not come around to firing light target loads at all... some do and some don't. try different loads by different manufacturers .. they all will vary (patterns will too) within wieght/Dram. Eq. You already shot the Win. Super-X go to the try the AA ,, then the Federal offerings .. keep shooting until you run into something that works. my brother's SBE is able to cycle 7/8 win Super-speed unk shells and mine can't ... doesn't bother me one bit cause there's no application situation for 'em... just some thoughts
  13. thnx PJ3 bought a few pairs actually... went to Cabela's and went back to the Herters brand .. they just fit better/more comfortable than the others I've tried .. thnx again guys
  14. BenelliBoy - you've been around here a bit .. search the topic and you'll find a plethera of info... ...so the Novas on the back burner now?
  15. Fez - just wait till this weekend ....

YOU ARE A BENELLI LUNATIC !!! .... I LOVE IT! looks like trouble for sure .. good for keepin' illegal aliens out in the water too!
  20. hmmmmm... never bought any spare parts .. just bring a back up then if something did break or fall apart I wouldn't have to worry about fixin' it during hunting time. According to Murphy's law if I ever did buy spare parts they'd be the parts I DIDN'T need!! Always bring a back-up. M1014, Fez .... you guys forgot TP ...
  21. do a search ... theres been more posts on choke tubes than carter has liver pills.
  22. ///.... and when that doesn't work use a bigger hammer!
  23. go for it! It'll serve all purposes well ... Once again ..if you are still considering gas guns ... take a serious look at the Beretta 391 Urika!! I CAN'T STRESS THAT ENOUGH! c-ya
  24. thought you were looking at an auto??
  25. My 20ga. nova is smooth with better than a case of shells through it .... my ole 870 Wingmaster 30" 12 is as smooth as they come tho .. plenty of years, gunk, shells, mishaps, custom touches etc. .I'm biased of my 870... for the price you can't go wrong with the nova - - if it comes up smooth, comfortable and fits ya buy it.
