  1. Well spoken, mudhen! That's probably the absolute best comment on the 3.5" topic. Now, if I were plugging carjackers (unrespected game), then I might want them to suffer a bit more
  2. Floyd, We are still talking about shotguns here, aren't we?

    SBE2 vs M2

    M2 - http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/m2.tpl SBEII - http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/index.tpl They are different guns.
  5. So it is your contention that Benelli, arguably the worlds most technologically advanced manufacturer of shotguns, ports the barrel on the Cordoba for no other reason than to make it louder for bystanders who shouldn't be standing that close in a dove field or on a trap range to begin with? I'm sure glad you straightened that one out for me! I was even considering buying one of those loud SOB's. I can't tell you how thankful I am that someone who knows something about the physics of shotgunning finally showed up on this board [ 02-24-2005, 11:22 AM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]
  6. Yes, is the answer to any question containing the "or". In this case, the long version of the answer is... Yes, it was either a bad batch, the problem has since been corrected, or it was never a problem at all. It is believed by some that the posts over at shotgunworld were made by trolls, and there never was any documented proof that there were such problems. I guess people who can't afford anything but a Mossberg sometimes harbor ill feelings against people who can afford the best there is.
  7. It's ridiculous to say that 3.5" is never needed. There are plenty of hunting situations in which the extra pellets would be beneficial. The M2 barrel comes off similar to a Rem. 1100, etc., where the barrel and receiver are two separate parts. Lab is correct in saying that the SBEII is easy to clean. It's by far the easiest to clean of any shotgun I've owned since I my Savage 20 ga. single barrel when I was 11.
  8. "and porting to keep barrel climb to a minimum"
  9. Deerslayer - NICE catch! I had missed that. Thanks!
  10. This has been discussed here and on other forums at great length. The general consensus is that the gun would only be considered as illegal if 1) the user were caught with 4 shells in the gun, or 2) the user were witnessed firing four shots without reloading, and the gun was proven to hold four shells. I did the mod because I wanted the option to float the extra shell when hunting snows.
  11. In 2004, Benelli introduced the Super Black Eagle II. The new model featured the ComforTech, AirTouch, and Crio Systems, in addition to new stock, forearm, trigger guard, and internal parts. The Super Black Eagle was carried over from the previous year with no changes. It featured a plain stock and standard barrel. In 2005, Benelli has stopped making the old Super Black Eagle in lieu of the Super Black Eagle II in a non-ComforTech model. Other than the plain stock design, the Super Balck Eagle II ComforTech and the Super Black Eagle II non-ComforTech are identical. In direct response to your last comment, the old (2004) SBEII and the new (2005) SBEII with ComforTech are one in the same. [ 02-23-2005, 09:20 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

  13. Sepehr, you missed just a few.... ComforTech... plus Crio barrel Gel Recoil Pad Redesigned Trigger Guard Redesigned Forearm & Stock w/AirTouch Corrosion resistant recoil spring and guide and a new recoil tube turkey, The SBEII, non-comfortech has taken many of the design innovations and ported them into the SBE, but it retains the traditional stock design (for those still using Windows 95) and lowers the MSRP by almost $100.
  14. I took the bolt to work and was going to do the JB Weld thing on it at lunchtime. The head machinist saw it asked what I was doing. I told him and he asked a couple of questions about it. In a few minutes, I had the bolt stripped down and in his hands. A few minutes later, he returned with the finished product. A little touch-up cosmetics and you can't even tell this one ever had a groove in it! Test fired today and it cranks through four like it was made to do it It's nice to work with people with skills! 15. The different models are made to suit different needs and wants. Buy the model which best suits your needs and wants... whenever you figure out what they are.
  16. The new catalogs are available. http://www.benelliusa.com/catalog-request/index.tpl

  18. Most have been singing the praises of the terror and the patternmaster. Can't help you on the shells. One other thing....

  20. I sold my BAR and went with the R1 last Fall. After some tweaks, I'm very pleased with the R1. The new Longtrac and Shortracs are the closest thing to the R1 on the market. If I didn't go for the R1, I'd consider one of those, but not the old style BAR. The R1's are supposed be offered in some new calibers this year. Make sure you get a new catalog before making a final decision.

  22. Check the M4 manual on the Italian site, under Customer Service. http://www.benelli.it/Home.asp?Lan=EN BTW, Benelli... While we're on the subject, what is the big deal about getting these manuals up on the US site? I could have sprouted them from seeds by now! [ 02-21-2005, 07:33 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]
