birddog, They say that the bulk of that really good stuff isn't going to make it here, but we did get a marked improvement in conditions here. Swamps and ponds should freeze up by Wednesday of next week, and that should drive them back to our blinds. I'll pass on that -28 stuff! Highs in the mid twenties to 30 is good for me.

If I had one it would be used

Tbauer, I see you edited out the e-mail address. That was a class move and I commend you for it. mudhen, $8,000 over 15 years?! I guess the $3,500 I spent last year puts me in the beeswax business after all then. [ 01-15-2005, 01:32 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

If I were this guy, I'd be so PO'd at you and mudhen for posting my e-mail address to a public forum that I'd probably make sure that you never get your part! Spammers use bots to retrieve such e-mail addresses and add them to their lists. Chances are pretty good that Craig's inbox is so full of crap by now that he may never see your messages.

From your owner's manual: Also, please see the post by remarkable here: http://tinyurl.com/5j5ko

1. None are currently made, nor planned for 2005. 2. I'm not aware of anyone making them. Have you looked inside yours? It's not a simple design. 3. http://www.gggaz.com/dvc/weapon_sr.php

There have been lots of posts regarding the inertia system not cycling light loads. To which Benelli are you referring? [ 01-13-2005, 06:44 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

Be careful! The tubes for the SBEII are a different design and the standard Benelli/Beretta tubes will not fit them. Last I heard, Briley was making some for the II, but they're available only upon request. They weren't on their website last week. I'm waiting for Patternmaster to come out with one for it.

Just returned from wasting two miserable days on VA's Eastern Shore TRYING to waterfowl hunt. Temps at night plummeted into the upper 40's, while daytime highs reached 70 or better. Christ! We've been dealing with this crap for over 10 days now, and there;s very little relief in sight. Day 1 - Early setup on a duck pond yields one long shot on a greenhead. Four people missed him clean. Mid-morning to sunset was spent in a goose pit watching 20,000 Canadas go from the bay side to the ocean side without stopping to feed anywhere. Day2 - Early setup on another duck pond. Passed up a dandy shot on a woodcock and heard, for the first time in my entire life, a turkey gobbling in early January. He responded to a goose call repeatedly and even double-gobbled once.... What's wrong with this picture?! After first light, we moved to a pit in a field where snow geese had been using all week. We watched 40,000 snows fly over us and land around a protected pond a half mile away. Mid-afternoon we moved to a blind on a tidal marsh creek and finally got some shooting.... ONE hooded merganser. For those who are keeping score, that's a $900 hooded merganser. God, if you're listening, please fix this weather!! [ 01-14-2005, 10:18 AM: Message edited by: Nelli Girl ]

If you can't figure it out from this image, then you should probably leave it to a gunsmith.

The Super Black Eagle is designed to shoot and cycle all loads from 2-3/4" standard field to 3-1/2" magnums. There is no "break-in" period or process required. Follow the instructions in the owner's manual and you should have no problems. If you do have problems with the gun, call Benelli customer support. They are some of the best in the business.

I called them regarding a replacement (because of poor fit) pad for my LH SBEII. They said the short pads would be available in March and that they normally cost around $70 US. Since I needed a shorter pad and needed a replacement, they would send me the short pad as my replacement when they arrive. If you have one of the earlier models and have not yet complained about the loose fitting recoil pad, you may be able to request a replacement pad in the shorter length and get around the cost

THE factory choke? The Nova ships with three chokes. Use full or modified on doves, shooting 7-1/2's or 8's. You shouldn't need a heavy load for doves unless they're always way out there. Ditto for quail, but with no tighter than modified. Use IC if they're holding well. Also make sure you're sighting the gun correctly and that it's patterning well. Follow this link and read the section, "A Test" http://espn.go.com/outdoors/tips/s/h_fea_shotgun_tips_FHN.html [ 01-06-2005, 08:53 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

James, that almost sounded like a free trial offer to me!

I get the same thing on that and several other items. Hey Webmaster, tighten up!

Those are some beauties, boys! Irish, take a look here: http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976524213.htm http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976542447.htm http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976517167.htm These are just a few of the listings. Do a search on Guns America for more.

Each major manufacturer has information on their websites. Sadly, there doesn't appear to be a sit which has a summary of all makers. Try these: http://www.federalcartridge.com http://www.remington.com/ammo/shotshell/shotshell.htm http://www.winchester.com/products/catalog/shotshell.aspx

I'd bet UPS would send them right through without even flinching

I was just snooping around the Italian site and I came across what appears to be an optional 10 round magazine... "Prismatic 10-rounds loader (caliber 30-06 only)" for the R1. Would this be restricted by a weapons ban of some kind in the US? Not sure this link will work, but here it is.. http://www.benelli.it/Prodotti/SchedaProdotto.asp?Lan=EN&IDArticolo=176 Look under Accessories.

Sounds like an exciting time! Congrats on the two pigs. I ended up with five whitetail (no giants) with my R1 in its first year. Here's a link for you: http://www.brennekeusa.com/web/text/faq.html#which Midway sells them online at http://www.midwayusa.com/ PS: While you were away, Nell Girl gave up some good info. on what's in store for 2005 at Benelli. http://www.benelliusa.com/forums/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/1184.html [ 01-04-2005, 06:20 AM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

I notice the recoil on my SBEII when I'm shooting targets, but I don't even know it's there on live game. Here are a few options to consider for reducing felt recoil: 1. Barrel Porting 2. Lenghten Forcing Cone 3. Recoil Reducers (stock and forearm) Each option has pros and cons and there will always be debate regarding their necessity and effectiveness. Do your own research, talk to a gunsmith, join a gym, and make an informed decision... or sell the SBE.
