  1. So why the cigarette? It just seems childish and it dishonors the deer's life, and more importantly, his death.
  2. Recheck that after shooting about 20-40 rounds. We have found that going about two clicks past the original index marks gets you back to factory torque. Do this only if accuracy seems to be fading or if point of impact has shifted.
  3. Short answer is, no, this is not normal. There is no break-in period. If you're modern factory ammo, there should be no hang-ups.
  4. afterall it's better to have it filled with "something" - as opposed to hollow space and 3/16" thick walls ... I hadn't had mine apart. I had no idea it was that thin!
  5. I just called customer service and a new stock is being sent out. They are currently out, but expect more in a week or so. Until then, I'll just hope this one holds together. They took my credit card information and are shipping the replacement against that. As soon as they receive the old one back, they'll shred the cc information. I'm a little bummed that they don't have them in stock, but they're doing all they can to remedy the situation. Another good argument for synthetics. If they were available in synthetics, that's what I would have bought to begin with.
  6. They are along the flow of the grain. The grain on mine runs straight the length of the stock and it cracked on two grain lines. First cracked stock I've ever had on any weapon I own. It sucks.
  7. This afternoon I fired my my R1 and immediatedly noticed the stock has cracked in two places. Why couldn't this have happened a month ago when I was shooting on the bench?! I'll call Customer Service Tuesday as it is already too late today. Needless to say, I am NOT happy about this Benelli mods, please tell me I don't have to give up this rifle the second day into our season. I need a replacement stock via next day air and an RMA for the cracked one. Bill me in advance and issue credit when you get this back if you want, but don't screw up my season!
  8. IMHO the .223 semi-auto market is already flooded with plinkers ranging in quality from crap to excellent. No need to take the R1 out of its big game genre and move into an already flooded market.

    Science Project

You need to clarify your question a bit. By "type", do you mean brand? Are you asking if there is a difference between different brands of identical load configuration... length, shot size, shot type, and powder charge? Or are you asking if different shot/powder configurations make a difference (obvious answer = yes), and why?
  10. After using my rifle in the field a couple of days, I'm ammending my list with one more item: 1. Hinged magazine compartment, or hinged floorplate with removable magazine. Sooner or later, this thing's going to end up in the mud or snow! 2. Also agreeing with fortyacres on the extra clip and the muzzle break.
  11. Well, don't keep us guessing... whadtcha get? Our season starts Saturday. Looking forward to it!
  12. Ship it to me. I can get it done for free
  13. birddog, Congratulations on a nice buck. Good luck with developing a respect for your quarry.

    R1 30-06

Could you explain in a bit more detail about how you used the spacers to set it up for LH use?
  15. 1. A LH version or at least a universal safety 2. Synthetic stock/forearm 3. More calibers (300 WSM)

    R1 30-06

fortyacres, see my post in the big game group regarding switching the seafety for LH users. http://www.benelliusa.com/forums/ultimatebb.php/topic/9/20.html Also, Benelli will do it for free. Just give them a call and set it up.
  17. 4 R1 owners in a single thread! Look out scattergunners, we're takin' this muther over!
  18. Thanks for posting, turkey.
  19. If you hunt and are prone to prop your weapon against a tree while filed dressing a deer - trust me... go with the black. I thought I'd never find my Nova again!

    R1 30-06

Search this forum for comments on the R1's for general information. Click 'Search' at the top of the page, and type in r1. You will find numerous comments by others and myself regarding scope mounting, cleaning, tweaking, accuracy, etc. There are definitely things you'll want to know before making the purchase. My 30-06 recoil is about equal to others I've fired. Without extra protection, I can easily fire 20 rounds at the range before I begin to flinch a bit. I'm only 5'9" / 160, so YMMV.
  21. Benelli is wise to not try to interpret or translate the ATF's laws for Benelli owners. It is not Benelli's responsibility to do so. Benelli is doing all it legally can by referring you back to the ATF. Ultimately, any definitive ruling on the matter must come from the governing body, not the manufacturer.
  22. You'll need a transfer dealer in your state to handle the paperwork for you. They will charge a fee. http://www.gunbroker.com/user/dealernetwork.asp
