  1. Do they jam with green eggs and ham?
  2. I can't speak for others here, so I will only answer for myself. In my case, it's the second one. Nice of you to go ahead and mention the gauge at this late stage in the process.
  3. I'd wait 90 more days if it were me.
  4. From the Cordoba Specifications on this website: "Minimum Recommended Load: Use 3-dram, 1-1/8-oz. loads in all Benelli 12-ga. semi-auto shotguns". As far as the groove in the bottom of the bolt, and being able to "float" a round on the carrier, I suspect that was carry-over from the military design, allowing for another round in the weapon. I seriously cannot see how it could affect performance one way or the other. Mine came without the ability to float a round on the carrier. It performed flawlessly. I modified the bolt to facilitate a floater. It still performs flawlessly. But then again, I don't shoot loads below the recommended minimums. Go ahead and tell CS that your Cordoba won't cycle 7/8 ounce trap loads. You'll be saving them a great deal of time and effort in diagnosing the problem.
  5. Great video! Jim1776, I doubt your single case is going to tarnish Benelli's global reputation, but it was a nice thought. Altering the bottom of the bolt should have no bearing on your particular issues, but it's always fun to have the floater. I think CS will get you straightened out, provided it isn't a user error problem, which I actually doubt in your case. Sorry you had problems.
  6. Actually, I now believe that skeeter is quite intelligent, and that he merely chooses to project himself as an ignorant backwoods illiterate on some occasions. Perhaps it is a role-playing fantasy or perhaps it is a psychological ploy in getting others to maintain lowered expectations of what to expect of him. Whatever his motives, his flashes of brilliance have belied his hillbilly persona and have shown him to be, when he wants to be, a man of character and depth. ISK, on the other hand, has not demonstrated so much as an inkling of similar intelligence, and he therefor remains on my blocked users list. In other words, I don't think he's pretending.
  7. I have used mine in low light situations on numerous occasions. I can typically watch beanfield deer for 10 -15 minutes past legal light (1/2 hour after sunset) - clear skies, no moon.
  8. My only concern would be that @ 17x, you'd have to have a good steady rest or tr****. Otherwise, it's going to be really jumpy.
  9. I generally don't take shots past 30 or so yards, so I'm not too worried about how well the thing patterns at longer distances or extended range performance of the shot. Just call 'em close and whack 'em.
  10. I have a pair of the Wind River Cascades in 10x42 and they are great. The Gold Ring line should only be better.
  11. Rhino 660 / Fed Premium 3.5" 5's
  12. A couple more shots
  13. If you've never tried this technique, you should give it a shot. We see and hear turkeys all of the time when we're duck hunting, so it just makes sense to go back in the Spring in search of a gobbler or two. We heard this old boy on the roost, but had a little bit of difficulty figuring out which side of the winding creek he was on. Finally got it worked out. Made the adjustment and setup for him. He got hung up on the other side of a big drainage ditch and swampy bottom, but when I hit the sweet notes, he couldn't stand it any longer. Enjoying some coffee and honey buns back at the boat. No catch & release today!
  14. Nice job! Looks good and it obviously works.

  17. Dampen a cloth with water and wipe the camo finished areas. Then wipe dry. If you get mud or excessive dirt on it, you can use a mild detergent, such as a small amount of liquid hand soap or dish soap, but follow up with a clean water cloth and wipe dry. CLP won't hurt it, but it's not going to help it any either. When lubing the mechanicals, wipe away any excess CLP from the finished surfaces with a dry cloth.
  18. I shot an 870 Wingmaster for 25 years. I tried a Nova and didn't like it at all. Different strokes...
  19. Nice job, hognutz!
  20. There may be a bit of loctite on it. Apply some heat with a hair dyer, heat gun, or dip in boiling water for a few seconds. An open flame will melt the plastic in the bead. Then unscrew the bead using small pliers. If you want to save the OEM bead or protect it from damage, wrap the jaws of the pliers with tape to prevent scarring.
  21. Could have something to do with the magazine spring pressure being at a minimum with a single round in the tube. But I suspect it's more of an issue of the gun not being in optimal operating form by the time the second round is fired and the third is released from the magazine. Benelli doesn't instruct owners to break in a new gun to help ammo makers sell higher priced stuff and to inflict injury to shoulders. There is a valid reason for the break-in. There is an equally valid reason for the minimum load specification. The gun must have enough recoil energy to cycle the action. When the first round is fired, there is no movement of recoil recovery and the gun is firmly shouldered. However, after the first round is away, this stability is degraded. When the second round is let go, the gun may not be as well seated on the shoulder, or there is forward movement as the shooter recovers his balance and form to get back on target. When you're operating right on the edge of failure with the light loads, it would take very little to start making things go wrong. The slightest recovery movement or the most undetectable variance in shoulder pressure could easily rob the system of the precious energy it needs to get the job done.
  22. Cool! I love a happy ending.
  23. If you are going to ignore the manufacturer's recommendations, I'm not sure there's much that that they or I can do to help you. Best of luck to you.
  24. I don't know who, but somebody's way off on the price. http://www.auctionarms.com/search/displayitem.cfm?itemnum=9671151&oh=216543
