http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=165973015 First one I've ever seen.

It would appear that his last visit here was 01-08-2008, 06:04 PM, so I don't think you're likely to get an answer to that question.

Yes, it is. I should have clarified. The Steady Grip is the only field model listed as being drilled and tapped from the factory.
-
If you are referring to matching the engraving on your new fancy SBE, then a Franchi would most likely be the best solution. I would imagine that the two companies share engraving patterns and designs.

Does it do it every time or is the problem intermittent? What kind of loads are you shooting? Has the gun been broken in with heavy loads? Have you tried loading two, and seeing if it still hangs on the last round? In all likelihood, especially if this is your first Benelli, the problem is a combination of poor mounting and light loads.

I would suggest calling Wolff Spring. 800-545-0077

The 11049 Steady Grip Model comes pre-drilled and tapped. The others are not.

Yet here you are, asking. Briley's could certainly handle the job. As could most local skilled smiths in your area. Ron Kontowsky has a good reputation for shotgun work. His website is http://americanarmsengineering.us/Home_Page.html

Most folks I've seen doing it dress similarly to how they do when they're turkey hunting. Head to toe camo and a face mask of some sort. On the other hand, I've seen a coyote walk right in front of two guys standing beside a pickup in the wide open. Movement and wind direction would be my primary concerns.

The Veloce is not available in 12 ga. It is, of course, a Franchi. Benelli doesn't own Franchi. Beretta Holdings Group owns Benelli, Franchi, Uberti, Burris, Stoeger, and some of Browning. The Dick's Benelli Diamond is a scaled back version of the Franchi O/U based most likely on the Alcione design. I have owned a Veloce, and it was a great little gun. Franchi quality is very good on their O/U's, but I think I would have to consider a Beretta, If I were to buy another Italian double.

Great looking bird, 308. I'd like to see a picture of that call too!

Have you ever been measured for length of pull? A slightly shorter pad may see less contact with your clothing as the stock is bought to shoulder. Also, observe the pros and how they mount their guns, and try to work on improving the technique. Observe the mounting technique shown in the video in episode 5 http://americangundog.com/straightshooting_AGD1.html There is no drag on clothing as the weapon is shouldered. It is brought up and out and then pulled straight back in to the shoulder. As for stopping or slowing the process, an improved mount can take care of that problem as well.

Does the "indicator button" properly reset when the action is cycled, or does it seem to stick in the depressed position? Could be either improperly assembled or a broken/missing spring.

Thanks, again, mudhen. It's good to see that there are some actual hunters on these forums. As always, your contributions to this site are immeasurable.

As thankful as you are for getting that bird, I am equally thankful for your post getting this thread back on track!

Unfortunately, the soft material is designed to absorb compressive shock, but it doesn't handle lateral abrasion well. You can replace it with a limbsaver.

Wiley Coyote?

I'm not sure you'll find a manufactured pad to fit the R1, especially not the wood stocked models. If the SBEII limbsaver doesn't fit it, then you're going to have to look at getting some gunsmithing done. A good smith would install an aluminum plate and then use a grind to fit pad to make it clean looking and professional. Probably at a cost of $125-$150. I would expect the limbsaver to do a better job than the stock pad.

"This message is hidden because ishootkittens is on your ignore list." Sorry. Hope it was a nice turkey you got there. Thanks for posting.

As good as the Turkey Rigatoni was, it can't hold a candle to the sandwiches we had today! Using a recipe she saw on Food Network, my wife cooked the breast fillet last night and allowed it to set overnight in the fridge. When she sliced the breast, I started "picking". Just eating it that way was good, but the sandwiches were AMAZING! Pete's Rubbed and Almost Fried Turkey Sandwich

Here's my bird joining us for tonight's dinner. He was a polite guest.
