  1. Did you check with Reeds? http://www.reedssports.com/Product/product.taf?_function=detail&_ID=10923
  2. Modern firearms don't ship with the heavy cosmoline grease like the old milsurp wooden crate guns did back in the day. While there is a protective coating on them, it's not nearly as close to axle grease as the older ones were. While it is a good opportunity to get to know the gun, it's not absolutely necessary to break it down and clean before shooting it. Just make sure the barrel is free from any obstructions and fire away. A thorough cleaning is suggested after your first outing. Do not use Rem Oil or WD40. Use a good quality CLP like Breakfree or Hoppes Elite Field Cleaner
  3. One of you is lying.
  4. 5 shots in 1.5" is extremely good for the R1, and it's exceptional for most mass-produced semi-auto sporting rifles. If you want to shoot game in excess of 300 yards, you really need to switch to good quality bolt action rifle. I got best results with the Federal Fusions in my R1 as well.
  5. Good information. Thanks for sharing it! I shoot 3" Kent Fasteel 3's and 4's on ducks and 1's or BB's on geese. I'd rather have the speed than the extra shot, as most of my shots are going to be on passing birds, and some will be divers. When the puddlers do helicopter in, a few extra shot is no more important than the speed. Benelli introduced the crio barrels and chokes with the SBEII. The barrels and tubes are cold treated to make for a more compact molecular bond in the steel, thus making for harder and smoother surfaces. The crio tubes are longer than the mobile style as well.
  6. That's not what was asked. The question was whether or not the manual specifies 3.5" loads. It does not. 2-3/4" heavy field loads will do the job just as quickly and effectively, and without causing flinchitis. If I hit you with enough force to knock you out cold, is it really going to matter to you if I hit you twice as hard?
  7. Alan, You can't put the RH barrel on the LH gun without also chaning out the bolt assembly as well. If you put a RH barrel and bolt assembly on, then you effectively will have a RH gun with a LH safety.
  8. There isn't one. They do recommend shooting several boxes of heavy field loads.

    Steadygrip

All of that over a recoil pad?
  10. Minimum Recommended Load: Use 3-dram, 1-1/8-oz. loads in all Benelli 12-ga. semi-auto shotguns
  11. Scope selection depends to some degree on what, where, and how you hunt. If you're hunting running game, like boars or deer being pushed by dogs, then something like the Trijicon Accupoint helps you get on target quickly. Long hikes make you appreciate the reduced weight and bulk of a 40 mm scope, while dusk and dawn in a tree stand prove the benefits of a 50 mm.
  12. Duggan, Have you ever pulled the assembly out and looked at it? It seems to me that some careful polishing would help a great deal, without compromising safety.
  13. Hey, if they were mine, I'd be doing the same thing. I'd even put sunblock on them when they go outside.
  14. Only in Connecticut. http://www.bulletproofme.com/
  15. It's a good thing you put that trap door in the attic of your house! We all learned something from Katrina.
  16. It did kind of read that way, but I think the KRISS technology was introduced last year for defense weaponry, and they're saying that Benelli will be utilizing the same type of system in the new Vinci. Will the Benelli Vinci be to to the KRISS MVS what the Stoeger M200 has been to the SBE?
  17. Looks much like the 870. I think they make pretty good stuff. Do they make thing in 3.5"?
  18. Seeing the front sight on a shotgun should be an afterthought. You need only be aware of the sight in the same sense that you are aware of the tip of your finger when pointing at a distant object. You are aware of the sight's presence, but you're not focused on it. Your primary concern is making sure that your glasses will allow you to see the target clearly and that peripheral vision is as unrestricted as possible.
  19. Is your gun drilled and tapped for mounts? I use the factory bead for sighting on turkeys and have never really had any problems hitting them. Have you patterned the gun to see how it shoots with factory beads?
  20. Do whaaaaa...?
  21. It's a drum fed streetsweeper with a collapsible stock and 14" barrel. Holds 100 rounds and can be converted to full auto with some JB Weld and a Popsicle stick. It shoots high and to the left.
  22. Yeah, be sure and post that up when you do.

    Help

If the choke still comes out easily, then you can be assured that no damage was done.
  24. From his profile: General Information Last Activity: Yesterday 01:45 PM Join Date: 10-03-2006 Also, I want to clarify that the above picture was one I chose from his Photobucket account to demonstrate a workaround for the keyword block on s o n y. I do not know if that is the Benelli he's selling.
  25. They're on ebay frequently.
