  1. Try 3-1/2" in a 12ga chambered for them ... if you really want to light off a shocker. LOL
  2. He said 75 feet ... which is 25 yards. I can see this post taking off into an ethics war. LOL

    Slug barrel.

Any bullet will be deflected by brush ... that's ANY. The slug barrel is good for about 200 yards with a sabot slug it likes. I have a quality 3-9x42 scope on mine but a 2-7 would be fine. An illuminated dot on your scope might be an added plus, and do double duty as turkey optics too. I would tend to think the comfortech would be the better bet for shooting the slugs, particularly if you're jump shooting while walking through brush. Besides, slugs can kick pretty stoutly. NICE DAD!!! I hope you appreciate him.
  4. Same in Jersey ... forgettaboutit; when it comes to getting a carry permit.
  5. I used to fill up my 63 Corvette, split window coupe, 365hp fuelie; with stuff called Sunoco 260. It was ludicrously more expensive than "regular" ... and cost me $4.00 and change ... FOR A FULL 20 GALLON TANK!!!

    a?

Explain what the two words NEVER (at no time) ... and MIND (heed? brain?) ... mean when you combine them in a phrase?
  7. I don't know about M1's or M2's ... but from what I've seen of sabot 20ga slugs through a rifled barrel; they hit hard and work very well.
  8. Can I assume that everybody saw the "Don't buy Exxon/Mobil e-mail that's been going around for about 6 months? The theory being if NOBODY buys gas from the biggest supplier, THEY will lower their prices to draw customers away from the other guys ... which will make the other guys in turn lower their prices, etc, etc, etc. Makes sense on paper ... and at least it's SOME form of revolt. 9. About $2.60 in Jersey ... but it seems to change like the stock market ... by the hour. (the thieven basta*ds) [ 04-20-2006, 03:56 AM: Message edited by: Butch-M ]
  10. Absolutely doesn't sound normal to me. Doesn't sound like a dangerous condition, but you certainly shouldn't be going through THAT every time you shoot. Contact Customer Service.
  11. You're a throwback to when men were men 97!
  12. Why sloppy??? (just out of a quest for knowledge)

    my new gun

Good Luck with it! and welcome.
  14. I have a 28" SBEII ... and wish I would have ordered the 26," even though it's primarily a waterfowl barrel. There is no difference in physical performance between 26" to 32" barrels ... so other than the "sight plane" of a longer barrel possibly helping a wing shooter swing and follow through more consistently, and/or the shorter barrel coming up onto target a little quicker/easier on quail & grouse ... and turkey hunting; it's personal preference. My suggestion is try to get the gun in your hands in all the barrel lengths you are considering ... and see which "feels" best to you.
  15. No sabots ... they are designed to spin; when they don't ... they pitch and yaw. Use "Foster" type slugs. Remington "Sluggers" Federal "TruBall" Winchester Power Points are a few more. They flatten & expand quickly after penetration and transfer their energy rapidly. Brenneke slugs on the other hand are designed not to expand, therefore they kill by deep penetration and long wound channels. This may be an asset on tough game, but a liability in self defense situations where you'd prefer your slug NOT to be going through your target and still carrying lethal energy to places unknown. Modified choke should be fine for any foster slug. It may not be the best for accuracy, that depends on the individual firearm though.
  16. Well, those Texas deer haven't had the training that these east coast deer get. Ours may not be as pardy, but they tend to be a LOT more wary by the time firearm season rolls around. All deer have the same instincts, but in some areas 75 to 100 yards is about all you'll get for the most part. Besides, a 75 yard range means you're capable of taking your quarry on the 17,500 square yards surrounding you. Doubling your proficiency to 150 yards does not simply double your chances ... it more likely QUADRUPLES them; because the area you and your gun cover is now 70,500 square yards. So, while you may get SOME deer to get within 30 or 50 yards ... you're absolutely going to get more deer and therefore bigger, better deer (whatever your idea of bigger & better are) within range with the scope.
  17. Great gun Chrzion, extremely versatile. It could serve you for a lifetime, if you don't get the bug and start changing your taste in shotguns. As john 1911 said, excellent for turkey. (It's excellent for waterfowl too) I respectfully disagree with him on the scope/rifled barrel issue though. With the rifled barrel; and the correct sabot slugs that your particular gun shoots best ... you have easily a 125 yard gun; and more likely a 150 to 175 yard gun. Other than possibly "jump shooting" running deer, in my opinion, there is a tremendous advantage to having the precision afforded with a quality optical scope. If you get to the point where you're ready, just ask here on Benelli and plenty of guys will steer you in the right direction. Butch
  18. Roger blue leader ... Thanks
  19. Oh ... it does sound like an odd load, particularly with steels low density and the "two sizes up rule." Thanks
  20. I hear you on the bureaucratic paper pushers being jacka$$es. They were at my favorite local dealer last year for something like a week checking every record he had, dotted I's & crossed T's crap ... just looking for trouble. He's second generation; been in business at least 75 years; middle class clientele. Said it was a very unpleasant experience, arrogant & almost adversarial. The reason I asked the question is that my son asked if we had any old shotgun kicking around for home protection. There was an old 20ga Stevens double which I couldn't hit a barn door with when I was a kid. I told him to take it. He said the thing is kind of cumbersome for wielding in the house. I told him just cut the barrel down, I hate the thing anyway. Remembering Ruby Ridge ... I told him "if you do hack it down, just make sure you don't cut any shorter than 16-1/4" I doubt he has taken a saw to it yet ... BUT????
  21. Out of curiosity; what do you use 1oz steel 7's for?
  22. You can tell how close to or far from hunting season we are by how squirrely the guys on this forum get.
  23. Are SBE1 ribs interchangable with SBEII ribs?
  24. I thought that whole "Ruby Ridge" assault & murder was over a 16" sawed off shotgun barrel being 1/4" too short.
  25. Welocme to Benelli Forum. A little clarification??? I had always thought 16" was the minimum barrel length allowed. Has that changed or doe that pertain to another type firearm or something?
