  1. I like the 20ga Ultralight too, but thought it would be fun to use a 20 for teal and ringneck ducks. That's why I was interested in the two others. As for one of each of the Benellis, this gun is pay back for the kitchen remodel for my wife. I can't afford another one of those.
  2. I have a SBE II and a M2 (12ga) and I am looking for a Benelli 20ga to shoot quail, dove, partridge and prairie chickens. Logic tells me to get an M2, as its form and function will be similar to the M2 12ga I have, but I like the looks and intrigued by the Cordoba. Thoughts and comments welcome and appreciated
  3. Here is one that we use. Crock-Pot Pheasant 1 packet of Lipton Onion Soup Mix Flour Canola oil or peanut oil Lawry’s Seasoned Salt to taste ½ cup white wine - optional • Cut up pheasant, including filleting of breasts and separation of thighs from drumsticks. Coat pheasant lightly with flour and sprinkle with Lawry’s Seasoned Salt. • Pre-heat canola oil in a skillet. Brown pheasant in canola oil in the skillet at medium heat. • After browning on both sides, put pheasant in crock pot. • Add a packet of Lipton Dehydrated Onion Soup Mix to the skillet you used to brown the pheasant along with 2 – 3 cups of water. If you are using a larger pot and cooking more than two birds, you would want to increase the amount of water. (You can substitute a ½ cup of white wine for ½ cup of the water.) • Heat the water, onion soup mix, and any drippings remaining to a boil and pour over pheasant in the crock pot. • Cook on low temperature for 5 – 7 hours depending on how much pheasant you are cooking and the temperature of your crock pot (they’re all different).
  4. I have both a SBE II and a M2. If I had to choose one it would be the SBE II for best all around gun.

    SBE II LH For Sale

    Why are you selling it?
  7. Nice looking pup, he appears to have a nice dog house: couch and carpeted.
  8. I have hunted pheasant in Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. I would agree that the best pheasant hunting is in SD. If you are lokking for a mixed bag hunt of qauil and pheasant Kansas offers that. But have had great hunts in all of the above states. A little homework and time will pay off.
  9. Here is the link to the state public land maps, keep in mind they can change every year but this will give you an idea of what is out there. http://www.sdgfp.info/Publications/Atlas/Index.htm
  10. Between the punblic walk in land and the indian reservations South Dakota has 1000's of arces of land. There is some real good public land west of the river were they have pheasant, partridge and chickens. Just go on line, they are a very hunter / firearms friendly state.
  11. Sorry for your loss, looks like a good dog with a great home life.
  12. I too shot the Black Cloud the 3" #3 they did a great job on ducks and the 3.5" #2 did the job on Specs.
  13. Yep I'll be there Friday at noon.
  14. Try this one http://www.ableammo.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=101507
  15. 2.75" number 6 would work well for pen raised birds.
  16. A longer barrel is more friendly to those you may hunt with in a blind or pit.
  17. I have both a LH SBE II and a LH M2. Both are great guns. If I had to have one it would be a SBE II. Sometimes a 3.5" will get the job done better than a 3".
  18. Having been in veterinary pharmaceuticals, in clinics, university veterinary schools for the many years, I have used Labs for the past 25 years of they have been great hunting and family dogs. Of the 4 labs we have had all were very different to train and had different personalities. All were trained using Walters books (Gun Dog and Water Dog) and most importantly obedience trained, to use the term “good canine citizens” Check references, the AKC profiles. Enjoy your dog and let your dog enjoy serving you and what they are supposed to do.

    Choke question?

Remember to always use choke lube, it will keep the chokes from getting stuck and keep them from backing out. Enjoy the new gun.
  20. Bought mine a little buddy, Kimber 38 Super.
  21. I have been using Avery neoprene groves and Cabelas Gortex, will be taking a look at Midwest PVC gloves when I head to Arkansas in two weeks.
  22. Definitely agree with tucker and adding a set of Under Armour glove liners have come in handy on real cold days or to wear as the only pair of gloves on warmer days

Welcome Nice gift from your wife. And yes there is a break in, read the manual first, disassemble, lightly oil (as in the manual), run a couple boxes of heavy loads (3" heavy loads will work great). disassemble, clean. lighly oil and you are set to go. Safe and Happy Holiday.
