  1. Thanks a bunch, been at the range doing brake in of my 300 Weatherby Vangguard SMOA but still need to sight in the rifle due to high winds and sore shoulder! I have an accu-brake on my 300 but try shooting 40 rounds at 1 setting and i needed a brake anyway! I was out of ammo for brake in anyway since i used cheap spritzers for that! i will be buying some Barnes 180 Gr TSX rounds in the next couple days for sight in of the Swarovski Z5 it has on it! My back up rifle will be my new Weatherby Mark V Accumark 338-378 which needs brake in also! I will also use the Barnes TSX in 225 Gr for the hunt in it!
  2. http://www.benelliusa.com/parts_and_accessories/choke_tubes.php This should be a start in figuring out what Benelli offers but aftermarket chokes i have used for my SBEII are Primos Extended Tubes which are devastating! https://shop.primos.com/c-75-choke-tubes.aspx
  3. I was notified i was drawn for Oct Oryx hunt on Whit Sands Missile Range and stoked about this hunt! This is an ES Oryx and a Premier hunt and only cost me around 320.00 minus the Taxidermy fee which will run near 1K! I can't flipping wait till Oct!
  4. Bud's has never given me any issue but then again i new what i wanted and did not want to ask questions, as When ya buy a Weatherby it's built to where you do not have to worry about if it's going to fall apart in shipment or does it have front sights?

    Rebate

http://www.rapid-rebates.com/ You can check your status at the site above or call the # 1-800-619-4703 Rebate states 6 to 8 weeks for processing?
  6. Unloaded guns are kinda like X wifes:p worthless!! Rule #1 Muzzle control and if you can't figure out that one i suppose you need to keep it unloaded!
  7. Make sure you have your hunters education card and no optic on you rifle! Bow and Muzzy hunting is the best way to hunt Colorado but they have guidelines they are passionate about! Big snow storm coming in a few days so bring plenty of warm clothes and plan for success! What unit you hunting?
  8. http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=shopping&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8#sclient=psy&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&tbs=shop:1&q=Benelli+11707&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&fp=2f1b071dfa336dc8 z Bud's Gun Shop! I have worked with these guys on several rifles with no issues! 25.00 transfer fee and it's yours!
  9. Free hand is a learned position and only 1 of many, when hunting i will look for a tree or something to steady my rest but i will not hold sending the shot because of it! In Arkansas you get plenty of practice and i learned free hand from day 1, sighting in was normally done from a bench day before season to make sure it had not been bumped off zero from the ride to the camp! Buying an accurate rifle also helps and 1 that shoulders and balances well helps also! Knowing the performance of you, your rifle and it's ballistics is a huge plus also! Range finder help a lot and back in the early days you would just walk off distances and make reference points on shooting lanes to estimate distance but my Swarovski 8x30 does a much better job and no walking!
  10. Man things have changed since i was a kid, we used to just walk in to the flooded timber and their was not all those restrictions back then only limits on ducks? I guess it has been some time back! One other thing you could look at is an outfitter listed on MPW website? I used to hunt soybean fields and river bottoms around the Ouachita River which is about 80 miles due west of Bayou Meto with good luck! River runs from North of Camden, Arkansas to way past West Monroe, Louisiana!
  11. I would hurry on getting that one sent off since it says it must be postmarked by January 31 2011! When i printed it only 1 page printed so i really think that is a typo but call Benelli or the folks that run the rebate program? 1-800-619-4703!
  12. http://www.agfc.com/hunting/Pages/HuntingWaterfowl.aspx I used to hunt public land years ago and it was a place called The Skatters now known as (Bayo Meto) which was one of only a few public areas that were open to those less fortunate as myself! It's on most maps! These guys can be the only good source for equipment/Gunsmith in that area if you need it? http://www.mackspw.com/
  13. I know who dug it up i was just messing with you guys, lighten up a tad pull thong from crack and take deep breath? Too bad older threads just do not go away kinda like people that do not know how to operate Italian Shotguns and the ones that complain about them a little too much!
  14. Who dug up this antique post and started crying about SBEII problems? Wow 2004 post being put on life support?
  15. Warne quality is really high and their CS is even better, Jerry has been a wealth of information and has earned my business the proper way, with just flat out taking care of me above and beyond what he has to do! Not many Companies that will do that in todays economy! They make rings and bases for numerous other manufacturers and people that do not like vertical rings need to try a few sets, i have had no issues and have never had an optic move around in a properly installed set of their rings! All 3 of my Weatherby's wear them and if they do not move in them they will not move, i did have to shim my last mount in the rear but Leupold sent me some free steel shims and 1 shim worked out and gave me back my 8 3/4 moa!
  16. It pays to be good friends with the Supply Sgt!! Kept me in Jack Daniels Old No 7 the complete Gulf War! hehe! Or maybe it's Santa who supplies him with the stocks! He is the one that brought me 2 Weatherby's this year! 338-378 Accumark & a 300 Weatherby Mag Vanguard SMOA. Good luck downloading that conex of stocks!
  17. It is a bunch of fun and if you have 3 hanging in camp you are in for a workout with the knife and diamond sharpeners! I usually use 3 separate blades and it takes about all day to prep 1 big old cow! It depends on the outside temp but the longer you can let them age the better they taste, but you take a chance of the spoiling in the early hunts by letting them hang too long! Taking them to a meat locker that is temp controlled is the best option and let them hang for days, the longer the better! I normally make sausage with most of the cuts except the neck meat is used for jerky and the back straps and loin are for frying! Everything else is sausage material! Did not draw this year but i will start next year with an oryx application that has to be submitted by 2 Feb on White Sands Missile range! Then i will put in for Elk draw in NM & Co, also have 2 points for mule deer in Colorado and will put in for another point next year! But Will try the draw for NM on Elk & Deer also! Too many new Weatherby's to let them collect dust in the gunsafe! We picked up some Army Field freezer's that work really nice and 3 big cows filled them both to the top with ice added! These were some really great finds at the local DRMO at the USAF base here in Nm! Really cheap and really nice for storage in the camp to keep critters from keeping you awake all night!

    Ruger SR-556

Mini 30's and Mini 14's require cleaning to shoot? NOT!
  19. Brownell's 800-741-0015 Mann & Son's 618-357-2911 Both should be able to get most anything you need but i would give them the correct part number vs asking them for the correct one, but they should be able to hook you up if you can't find the part # you need!
  20. http://www.dailyedeals.com/free_online_coupons/cabelas.htm hope this helps but i do not use cabela's too much for deals!
  21. In short California has the worst Gun Laws almost of any State in the US, open carry loaded will get you jail time in a vehicle i suppose. You have to register them and have only a small window once arriving in California and their idea of a legal firearm is it setting at the Arizona Border in a pile. Their firearms manual is 96 pages long and if going to take any firearm to that state i would suggest getting a copy of it and then set down with a good Lawyer to figure what you can and can't do. Link below should confuse you more but could keep you out of jail! http://www.NRAILA.org/GunLaws/ click on California and then scratch head! http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/
  22. Hornady 300 Gr SST's most accurate slug out their but thats only my opinion!

    Not a question

Opinion's are good just make sure you did not forget any small critical piece of information that a lotta folk conveniently leave out! Easy to talk to the Secretary why did you not insist on talking to a Smith or someone more qualified in the repair field vs the Secretarial Field? To fix your gun you need to get a return authorization and ship it back for someone to repair it and i might add that sending any firearm to a Smith just before or during hunting season is probably the worst time to send a firearm for repair! Was the shotgun still under warranty which would make a difference, it should not but i think it could? You trying to repair it probably voided any warranty you had left any way so i would suggest taking it to a reputable qualified gunsmith that knows Italian shotguns or you will be having more issues than you thought possible!

    Veterans Day

Happy Veteran's Day everyone and take a few minutes out of this wonderful day and say a prayer for those who did not come home and for their loved ones. God Bless them and everyone before us that has served!
  25. With that many different shells tried you can rule that issue out it seems, get an RA and send it in! or find a Smith that is a Smith! i would think a good Smith that could fix your issue since you are in the middle of the season! Where ya from?
