  1. Just to clarify porting has nothing to do with slowing the wad. The type of choke your talking about actually have small finger like ridges that slow the wad by stripping the wad fingers back causing early wad separation so your shot string lengthens. I don't have much experience patterning different types of chokes but others here have a lot. Mudhen, probably being the most experienced I know of especially with Rhinos and perhaps maybe he'll post up for you. Have you used the search tool? There are many posts from the past on this subject. Have you patterned any of yours? What type of hunting are you using it for? I use Primos Dead Zone for waterfowl and Primos JellyHead for turkey and can't complain. They do the job fine for me no matter what type of tubes they are and are reasonably priced and used by many on this forum. Here is the link. Click on your use. https://shop.primos.com/c-75-choke-tubes.aspx
  2. Try tightening up your grip. Any gun will hammer your finger under recoil if you hold it loosely.
  3. Just for clarity, you don't need to remove the barrel or bolt either. Just the trigger group so you can turn the stock off, and of course make sure its not loaded. As I said before thats the beauty of the M4. No tools and simplicity for easy stock config changes.
  4. Hogwild is correct. HNLV is not. There are no screws or nuts to be removed at all. Just the trigger assy. Heres the link to the manual. Pg 36. I own an M4 with all the stock configs. Thats the beauty of the M4. No tools to quickly change stock configs. http://www.benelliusa.com/customer-service/pdfs/M4Super90.pdf
  5. As I recall there were many that used these that posted up a while back. I don't have them but I think I will be ordering a set and their sling soon for my Comfortech SBE II. If you buy a sling they come with it but you can buy just the swivels and they are reasonably priced. http://www.quakeinc.com/slinga5.html
  6. LT3097 I noticed you have contacted Joe about his tubes. I have one and they are excellent. You won't regret it. He is off to the service soon so don't wait. Good one Tucker! I couldn't agree more. Heres a glimpse of mine with the collapsable stock. I have the standard field stock which is usually on it to be legal and it changes things up a bit to shoot an M4 like a field gun. They are fun!
  7. Lt3097 I tried to tell you it was hard. Aren't you glad you didn't attempt it yourself? Many people don't know hardend steel parts such as receivers have most all of the machine work done before they are hardened when the steel is in a softer state. Ask an engraver. It can be done and I suggest you take it to a good machine shop in your area. They will have the proper tooling (carbide) and milling machines that many gunsmiths simply can't afford to do it right. It is an expensive investment to be seldomly used and takes many years to pay for itself. Enjoy your 11707. I also have one. They are awesome! Good luck with your barrel. As for Hogwild "did the first guy work from his home shop or was he a reputable smith at a gun dealer? " There are many excellent (reputable) smiths that work from their home shop. Do you have to work at a dealer to be reputable or good? I have redone quite a few repair jobs done by (dealer gunsmiths) and even a few the factory smiths couldn't seem to get..
  8. No. They are different designs. You can have your dealer order one for you. According to the website M2/ SBE II/ and Supernova will interchange.
  9. I have a Benelli Tactical case for my M4 Very nice but a little pricy at $60 but it does have the Benelli embroidered logo. If that matters to you and appear to be in stock at the Benelli Gear Store. I also have a Uncle Mikes tactical case for my AR 15 which is also a pretty good case and much less. The SN will fit in it fine. I got it from Midway and if I remember correctly it was around $25 to $30.
  10. Darn it! I just want to know when I can sell my M4 so I can retire. It sounded like it was coming soon. Maybe not.
  11. Benelli CS on the Benelli Home page Page. Click CS tab then Manuals then M2. 3 clicks of your mouse and about 10 secs. http://www.benelliusa.com/customer-service/pdfs/M2%20Manual.pdf
  12. XCOIL's are also good but according to their website anyway they don't list a pop in pad. It lists SBE and nontactical Benelli. Limbsaver is the only aftermarket pop in pad I know of for SBE II's and Nova's.
  13. R Cubed Let me get this straight. You couldn't tell your Nova Tactical barrel was a fixed choke by looking at it? You may need a little more help than CS. The Nova Field guns all use tubes but the tacticals are fixed. You may have gotten the wrong box from your dealer explaining where the tubes came from. Did your dealer explain anything to you? Did you ask your dealer anything? It should be a common practice by the dealer to make sure you fully understand its features and operation. At least thats how they do it where I come from. Its amazing to me how many people will chime in on Benelli's horrible CS when the answers to many of these questions are staring them in the face. Why do you think it takes so long to get through sometimes?
  14. If its true that Benelli will no longer be offering the 11707 to the general public then it appears to me the value of any M4's already out there just went sky high.er. Remember what the assault weapons ban did to prices? Hmm. now where did I put all those extra stocks and extensions. LOL.
  15. I am certainly no computer genius but what are the other forums doing to stop the spam? I visit many different types of forums and I don't seem to be seeing it there. At least that I know of. Maybe Tucker is correct. Most forums I belong to require some type of email validation to belong or your out. Is it possible to make it so that a new members post be delayed untill screening for the first or whatever number of posts till the are considered a legit member? As of 7:39 am GMT on 2/16/07 their still getting in.
  16. Your original post said SBE non comfortech. Yes, SBE means 1 and SBE II means 2. Do you have a 1 or a 2? If its a 2 you already have the factory gel pad. If you would have said pop in I would have given this link only. Not all non comfortech stocks are pop in pads depending on the stock type you have. Some synthetic stocks do indeed screw in. I am sure you can return/exchange it for the correct one. Sorry, next time we will try to know what you mean. http://www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=13194&title=LIMBSAVER?%20RECOIL%20PAD You need a Limbsaver pad #100-002-652 for a SBE II/Nova. I think. I don't believe Kickeez makes a pop in pad. Exactly which gun and stock type do you have? You can always call in your order and talk to a human for help getting the correct pad.
  17. I have a 20 ga. Super Sport. Basically same gun. I haven't shot mine a whole lot yet but I will tell you it points like a dream, cycles just fine, and hits where its pointed. The extended tubes are nice also. I use mine mostly for clays. So far its been flawless. What else could a guy want? I love mine and am very happy with it. I believe you too will love yours. The M2 20ga. is also a great gun and if I was only using it to hunt that may be a different story as it may be a hair lighter and only comes in a 26" non ported BBL. I prefer the 28" for clays and the SS, Cordoba is a little easier to clean like the SBE and I just prefer that design type as I own a SBE II and I feel its better IMO. To me the 20ga. porting doesn't seem to make it much louder at least like the 12ga. bark. Congrats on your purchase. You can't go wrong with any Nelli. Enjoy!
  18. I believe that was a wise move. Speaking from experience it is not an easy job to do if you are not well versed on drilling hardened steel. Tapping can be very difficult also. I have seen many botched up jobs and didn't want you to do it to yours. Thats all I was trying to tell you. Its money well spent and a lot of frustration avoided. Glad you changed your mind. Post some pics if you can when you get it done. Enjoy your SBE!
  19. Here's the link to order directly from Kickeez. They are excellent pads. Limbsavers are good also and very similar. You can order them through Brownells at the other link. http://www.kickeezproducts.com/p_recoil_pads.php http://www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=13194&title=LIMBSAVER?%20RECOIL%20PAD
  20. M4's don't come cheap anywhere. If you find one buy it. They are not that plentiful yet. Accessories come with a price also. M4's can be harmful to your wallet.
  21. There is no right answer here. Its a matter of personal preference. However most guns used for turkey and deer are 24". If you may use it for birds a 26" or 28" would work also. If your hunting dense cover shorter barrels are more the norm. Its really up to your own style and uses and what you feel comfortable with.
  22. As I said before Good Luck. Let us know how it turns out.
  23. Good Luck. Let us know how it turns out. I would also suggest you use a mill for drilling. How will you index your work on a drill press? Or will you simply guess. A drill press will allow the bit to walk on you. Especially on hardend steel. Cobalt is hard but it is also very brittle. If your friend can do it for you paying him is money well spent and you don't end up with off center holes or worse. If he does mess it up its his problem. Just my 2 cents. Best of Luck.
  24. Tucker is quite right on thread size and advise. I would add a gunsmith/machinist that knows what he's doing if you can't do it yourself. SBE receivers are very hard and in my experience will most likely require carbide tooling.
  25. Barrel length has little to no effect ballistically on your given barrel lengths. Its all about your sighting plane and swing. I would go with the 24" if that is all of your intended uses. Velocity is determined by the type of shell used. The choke has nothing to do with velocity. Only the pattern it throws.
