  1. What load is it?
  2. We don't know your physical prowess so this is truly hard to judge.
  3. I have everything I need but the weapon, and I am quirky. I prefer to buy new weapons regardless of the condition of the pre-owned weapon. I actually did have to use Benelli's warranty once (new barrel) and it was quick. I am not sure how it would go with a pre-owned weapon. The Z06 is a blast. Nothing like having over 500hp and still getting 26mpg on the highway.
  4. Urbino has flaws. I don't like flaws. Poor fit/finish and a crappy grip from what I understand. Pic when its done. I have about $1K/mo to dedicate to the project. It will take a few months. *This is #4. I figured I would get it now, in lieu of this: http://www.atf.gov/publications/firearms/012611-study-on-importality-of-certain-shotguns.pdf
  5. OH NOES! He was excite about handle. --Kip-- Just ordered a handle from you and a few other doodads. Thankyou! It takes a while for you to bring something to market, but unlike others who love to rush new things into the buying place and use customers as guinea pigs, you actually R&D your own stuff and make sure that it is G2G before it ever hits customer hands. I wish everyone else was like that. I would rather wait on a good product than not wait on crap, hate it, and have to buy the product AGAIN when it is "fixed". Which oddly seems to take the same amount of time as just waiting until you R&D it yourself. It's better to create anxiety through long wait periods sprinkled with accurate project updates than it is to breed disgust by releasing more junk to the market place. We can already buy as much junk components as we want. We don't need more. We need perfection. Thankyou, Kip!
  6. No, the moral of the story is not to get married in the first place. That really sucks
  7. Sorry to resurrect this thread (no pun intended), but we are going to go through this again in October. I am hoping by then to have my M4S90 system built. I would ask though, on topic, with all the religions out there claiming to be right, what do we honestly have besides our own ego-centric attitudes to convince us that we are correct? Christianity is the newest religion out there, save some of the New Age stuff, and while we would like to think we are "right" because that is human nature, we have no more evidence than anyone else to support it.
  8. After owning 3 M4's this is my advice.
  9. From what I understand, an SBS does NOT circumvent 922r, and I actually would pay attention to 922r if I were "violating" it on an SBS or Form 4 weapon. Don't post pix or tell anyone about it online, of course, we know you wouldn't violate 922r, but I mean, if you were the kind of person that would. Tread softly, say you will not do it, and then just don't tell anyone *Normally I view 922r as so much BS, but on a Form 4 weapon it gets my attention a little bit.
  10. I guess I will throw my .02 in here. 00 will sometimes penetrate a 2x4 made of white pine. 000 almost always will, but will not have a whole lot left after the experience. Maybe enough to go into another 2x4 a few cm. At 20', unless you are using the crappiest un-buffered junk you can find, you should be keeping it all WELL within the size of the average torso. Soft slugs (like the Remington Foster type) will fragment violently at close range on hydraulic or hard targets, especially the lighter "high velocity" slugs. They "turn inside out" and you are left with a doughnut that fragments and a center section shaped like a pancake. This is why they suck against such critters as bears/other things that need a DEEP hole punched in them at closer ranges where they deform so wildly. Flite Control out of the M4's I have shot it in will hold a great pattern until about 20 yards, where upon it will spread out the same/worse than buckshot you have taken the time to find the right choke for. I have found larger shot patterns best. It usually likes a IC or MOD choke. Full will do okay out to 15 yards or so, but on longer shots the deformed pellets will destroy any semblance of a pattern. Out to about 20-25 yards all of the M4's I have owned will keep Remington's 8-pellet 000 Buck 2.75" load in a 10-14" circle once I figure out which choke they like (Some liked MOD, some IC. I have owned several M4's). Federal also makes a cartridge in the classic line that has buffer AND an enclosed shot-cup in 000 BUCK. I have found it to perform similar to the remingtons, but without the waterproofing and at the penalty of being slightly longer, physically. Anyway, as much as people complain about buckshot penetrating, it's a dismal penetrator. You need at least 00 buck usually to centerpunch a person, and barriers? Well, it sucks. I have shot car doors (metal, circa 1980's) that soaked up buckshot up to magnum 00 velocity (1300+fps) or 000 size. The 000 did very well out to about 40-50 yards. The 00 high velocity stuff did okay out to about 30-40. Still, not much coming out the other side. Buckshot just doesn't do so hot. It's soft, and it has crap for sectional density. All those pictures of gel-blocks showing 20+" of penetration from 00 buck are known to have been fired in gel that was 15-20% "thinner" than commonly spec'ed gel and no correction factor was applied. You know what I'm talking about, that huge repository of gel-shots for 12ga ammo that shows up time to time. #4 buckshot only in appartments. At point-blank it wouldn't do more than dent the car door and getting it to go through a 2x4 is a muzzle-contact proposition. According to those I have spoken with on the matter (MD Roberts), 7-11" penetration is the most you will get on a warm body, with 7-8 being more normal than 11. Then factor in that I live in a state full of fatties who get cold in 70* weather and like to bundle up and you have a recipe for fail. Missed/unaccounted for pellets are more liable to harm than over-penetrating pellets, and larger shot patterns tighter. Make mine 00 or 000. Anyway, just my observations. Enjoy in good health.
  11. That is one sick-house hair-dryer. I usually put CLP in my mag tube and use a heat-gun until the CLP begins to smoke off. I have found that that is almost identical to the temperature required for me to begin to unscrew the mag-tube from the receiver.
  12. I am not sorry I sold it, it provided that extra little bit of down-payment on my Z06, but I want another one. You just CANNOT beat an M4S90 for laying down a wall of lead, dropping a slug on target out to 200+ yards (Yes, I was slamming the 200 yard gongs iron-sights at the range much to the range-officer's surprise.), or launching a tight cloud of large buckshot into some unfortunate watermelon. Anyway, all the right parts are out now for me to do what I originally wanted to do with my M4S90 but could not due to parts availability. The right parts simply did not exist. Now they do. It will take me a month or two to put things together, no peeking until then. Pix posted in this thread when I'm done.
  13. The new fender is factory painted. They swap stuff like that all the time at the plant and it always matches.
  14. These cars seem to take the hit all at once and then stabalize in depreciation. It has a 7/70 bumper to bumper and a 5/100 powertrain. You're right, though, when those edge close to an end, I may worry.
  15. Yeah, Nissan will pull DD. Actually, my unit is only 70/30 female, and the SICU I float to is about 50/50.
  16. It already has forged titanium aerospace alloy connecting rods, pushrods, valve-springs, retainers, intake valves, and magnesium engine cradle and suspension components, along with carbon fiber fenders. Quite a collection of semi-exotic materials.
  17. I already did the "For another..." with the base C6, then the Grand Sport, and ended up in the Z06. “A vision without action is just a dream. Action without a vision is a nightmare.” I had to have a bit of vision here, or I would have created a financial nightmare, lol!
  18. So glad I got out of my last one for $500+. Jeez
  19. Good deal! *Dug through about 5 minutes of junk to find the wrench, glad I did, though, lol!*
  20. Retail is around $99-120, and they are the only game in town. I strongly suggest that the purchaser of this part also purchase 2 spare front-sight nuts from Brownells. They use a nylon insert and I personally consider them 1-time use, as they are easy to round the edges off on. You will need a 5.5mm wrench, as well, to remove this nut. As fate would have it, some douchebag on here was making a big deal about how if I had the wrench, I should loan it out since I expected him to do the same. Well, now I do have the wrench. It is part of a $20 set of wrenches, though, so I WOULD! like it back. Since I don't have an M4 anymore, I won't miss it for the few weeks you should need it to get to the range and get things straight. Please PM me your address, whoever buys this, and I will mail you the wrench. Just mail it back to me after you get the sight zeroed in. That way I will have it back with the set, and the next post I see like this, I can loan it out again.
  21. Thanks! I have lusted after the Z06/Viper cars since I was in highschool, and promised I would buy myself one as a graduation present a year out. They killed the Viper, and the Vette was a little more "livable" and 99% of the performance while only 80% of the cost. Better warranty and in current production. I made my dream come true
  22. It's nice until you whip off the QD optics and fire it and the buldge where the button his smashes into your jaw. Been there, done that, and owned nearly any and every mod you can think of for the M4 except for the newer stuff that has come out in the last 6-8 months. I would give the Urbino a shot. Worse case scenario is you sell it and try something else. It's what I did. had a great time, too! I had some really unique stuff, like a Teague MOD choke (Try finding that in the US, took me FOREVER! to get it imported). Instead of the scout M600C, I recommend a LaRue mount for a 6PD and a custom LED module. I have a 6P that is putting out well over 500 lumens (actual, not "emitter" lumens) and it makes my scout lights look like candles in a cave. Run-time isn't that long, though, but I have other modules with good, 1 hour run times that are putting out over 300 lumens in a VERY nice tint (4000K) that renders color like a car's high-beams.
  23. Tint laws are 40%. My daily has 20% and I have gotten (a couple days ago, actually) only 1 ticket in it in the past 8 months of owning it that way. I plan on 30% in the Z as I do drive at night a good bit. I can only imagine how much my insurance company will hate me if I have a fender bender in this thing. There was a MINOR flaw in one fender. The plant in Bowling Green is getting me a new fender ASAP before I pick the car up (which is why the pix are still on the showroom floor). Those fenders NORMALLY come UNpainted (they are sending one fully painted/dressed), and retails for $1776. Each. The emblem is around $200. Then install and paint matching. That means that a front-end in this car is going to START at 6-8K + paint and labor. I have to admit I am probably going to drive it rather gingerly through the corners, but a straight-line blast now and then should prove fun. These cars will break the tires loose on the 3rd gear shift at 120, though, if you aren't careful. They only weigh 3100 and change and are putting down roughly 440hp and similar torque. The 325's out back are sticky and big, but physics is physics. I learned my lesson about thinking you are the master of something like this back when I was in highschool and drove something much slower (and cheaper). _________ As to mods, GM is a GREAT company, but they WILL void a warranty so fast it will make your head spin if you mod. Car will remain stock except for the Venture Shield Ultra clear bra I had put on, and the window tint (Going with a 3M or F1 Ceramic). There is always someone faster out there, but 0-150mph in 17.5 seconds...not many (verified 1/4 mile time record for a 100% stock Z06 down to the OEM tires is in the high 10's). Especially getting 24mpg cruising listening to the stereo with the AC on. I am content stock. Warranty is 5/100 powertrain and 7/70 bumper to bumper. That's a lot to throw away for a few horses. ___________ Part of me wants to moth-ball the car, and drive it only a few K each year. I highly doubt we are going to see very many 427ci V8 American cars, and while I didn't buy this for a monetary investement, I did buy it as an emotional one. I am afraid it is one of the very last of its kind. I will probably buy a C5 FRC or something in the next few years and make it a track slut. Kinda wanting to keep this one "pretty" because of the above. You can't truly drive a car like it was meant to be driven if you are worried about keeping it pretty. _______ If you EVER! Buy a corvette, take the Buyer's Tour of the plant. You will be suprised who you meet. My dealer was having a bit of a slow time getting that fully painted Fender out of Bowling Green. I made a phone call and 3 hours later the plant manager called my dealer while holding a freshly painted, fully dressed fender in his hand and asked where it needed to be shipped, and how it would get there fastest. I know it is popular to bash on GM and call them "Government Motors" and all that crap, but they have treated some 25 year old guy who's daddy isn't Jay Leno, as though he was royalty, and I am here to tell you that I am a GM customer for life because of that experience. Period.
  24. Z06. I get to shred someone else's $1800 set of tires From what I have read, it's not some coddled roundy-round the circle experience, either. One person who went posted up that the instructors had him thrashing the car so hard he felt guilty beating on it.
  25. My setup was a Carrier Comp full-length tube, OEM handle (Tried the FFT, not a fan, it rotates too easily and is deformed under recoil and), Brownell's red aluminum follower, Carrier Comp mag spring (came with tube), Meprolite night sights. If I still had it, it would get a Carrier Comp pic rail (Tried Mesa, hated how it always shot loose and/or warped the reciever when I tightened it). An Aimpoint T1 in a LaRue Low mount, and a Mesa Urbino stock.
