  1. I have been shooting my 1301 a bunch the last two weeks testing out buckshot loads for reliability and patterns. The 1301 recoils hard, probably due to its weight so I have been looking at loads in the 1250-1300fps range (it has been completely reliable with low recoil slugs). I went to clean it this morning (probaby about 120 or so rounds through it total) and found some shocking wear. See the pics below. The piston housing is getting chewed up. And now the thin plastic tube the bolt carrier rides on is getting gouged. Will it crack? Who knows. This gun has already been back to Beretta for a bulged barrel. Oh, and today the action spring decided to unseat itself from the PLASTIC keeper and hang up on the tube threads making disassembly a pain. Below are shots of my 14 year old M4 and its pistons (second pic they have been cleaned with Hoppes). Not a hint of wear anywhere. The fragillity of the 1301 is shocking. I think its best to just run it dirty and leave it that way.
  2. I must have missed the memo. I have been shooting slugs out of my M4s since 2008. Never had an accuracy problem. And no, mine won't cycle the Fiocchi Defense Dynamics 1250fps 00 buck either (although it groups excellently for a value load).
  3. You are right, 20ga M2s seem to be in short supply currently. Would an Ethos work for you? https://www.impactguns.com/semi-auto-shotguns/benelli-ethos-field-20-26-aa-grade-satin-walnut-silver-engraved-progressive-comfort-3-1rd-650350104714-10471
  4. Sorry to resurrect this thread. I have seen a mix of old and new M4s (2019+). Anyone know why Benelli stopped marking the M4 barrels?
  5. I have a new 1301 and I don't care for it. The comparisons to an M4 have no merit. The 1301 has too much plastic and a thin walled barrel. Mine lasted 50 rounds before the barrel bulged, rear sight came loose, and some plastic in the action broke off and fell out. Luckily it was all fixed under warranty. The M4 is a robust military weapon; the 1301 is a commercial gun with black furniture.

    FFT Hammer Wear

Most likely. I will probably pick up a shootingsight hammer if they ever get back in stock. A friend of mine manages a machine shop that does work (including prototyping) for the medical device industry. He has some very talented machinists on staff that like to take on projects after hours. I may see if they can knock one out for me.
  7. Has anyone tried the shooting sight hammer? Claims to be S7 tool steel . . .

    FFT Hammer Wear

FFT says it is normal and not a problem as long as there are no performance issues. He said he has sold 1000s and isn't aware of any failures. He also mentioned a lifetime warranty. Thanks for the replies.

    FFT Hammer Wear

No. But the wear has accelerated and who knows where the stopping point is.

    FFT Hammer Wear

I am going to call Monday and see what they say.

    FFT Hammer Wear

Hi. Haven't asked FFT yet. I have had it on a long time so I am not sure what warranty coverage there is. I know lots of people here have them. Hopefully other users can chime in. I am kinda disappointed. Not many options for hammers so I may have to reinstall the factory one and use another US made part.

    FFT Hammer Wear

Hi guys. My fft hammer seems to be wearing excessively. It has about 500 rounds on it. Thoughts?
  13. Here is the law (r)It shall be unlawful for any person to assemble from imported parts any semiautomatic rifle or any shotgun which is identical to any rifle or shotgun prohibited from importation under section 925(d)(3) of this chapter as not being particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes except that this subsection shall not apply to— (1) the assembly of any such rifle or shotgun for sale or distribution by a licensed manufacturer to the United States or any department or agency thereof or to any State or any department, agency, or political subdivision thereof; or (2) the assembly of any such rifle or shotgun for the purposes of testing or experimentation authorized by the Attorney General. ----------------------- I am not aware of an official ATF parts count determination for the Super Nova, however someone on another shotgun forum was advised in writing by the ATF that since the NOVA's stock and receiver is one piece, only two parts would have to be replaced in order to increase capacity. For your Super Nova you probably would need to replace 3.
  14. So did they come from FFT or were they drop shipped from the manufacturer? If the came from FFT they should've at least inspected them before shipping.

  16. How did those even get shipped?
  17. Been running one for at least 10 years. Zero problems and much easier to manipulate.
  18. No idea about Louisiana but maybe these guys have some info. https://botach.com/trade-in-program/
  19. I have certain M4 that I purchased back in '08. I have shot it alot and taken a few classes where it was used hard. The only thing i have ever replaced were the rubber o-rings that sit on top of the threads on the piston plugs. And, they really weren't that worn. I just did it for peace of mind. So really you don't need to keep anything on hand. Marine Corps tough for the win.

    Sidearmor??

Holy thread resurrection batman. Anyways, Sidearmor is no more. They are now Asgard Defense and they are selling their own shotgun. https://asgarddefense.com/
  21. No. I found the german slugs to be quite dirty (SB too) as far as leading in the barrel but no big deal.
  22. Wolf slugs are excellent. Been shooting them for years out of M4s. Never a failure of any kind. But those were the made in Germany versions. One hole at 50yds from a bench if you do your part. New production is Russian and I have only fired a few of those.
