Can't Take Possession of My New M4, 11795 Thanks NICS Outage... Yea Right
StrangerDanger replied to DEBWB's topic in Benelli
I’m a FFL. Did you list your SSI on the form? If you have a common name, it can cause issues without the social. The ATF has been emailing me in the past week about an outage with their system. I believe it has been resolved. Does your state have a provision for using a CCW to bypass the background check? This is the best solution moving forward. It completely eliminates the need for involving NICS. I have had delays occur for 30 days in the past then show up as Proceed. -
Another nice thing about these Briley tubes is they ship really fast. No need to wait for months even right now during this retarded panic buying cycle.

Scout: Could you cut the rail back to clear the Ava Mount?

That 5 position receiver extension will only work with the Supernova collapsible stock. It has been used on the M4A1 concept model.
-
On an NP3 build, I’d go with the stainless. Other builds I’d go black.
-
Ordered two more carbon fiber tubes. One for my Burnt Bronze M4 and one for my brother-in-law’s all black M4.
-
No cycling issues Tycoon? I haven’t shot mine yet. Bureau of Land Management banned shooting due to fire danger.
-
It will have a three position extension.

Makes sense. Definitely. It was so light it felt like a paper towel cardboard tube. What weight it does have is mostly at the stainless threaded ends. Inside the tube is stainless. The transition between the threaded ends and the center of the tube can barely be felt. The carbon fiber wrapped area still appears to be some sort of metal. The exterior of the tube feels like carbon fiber weave. it’s definitely not like fake carbon fiber crap you see stuck on cars. I forget the exact weight of the OEM tube and limiter, but I think it is around; OEM Steel: 10.5 oz (estimate) Carriercomp Titanium: 5.8 oz Briley Carbon Fiber: 3.4 oz I’ll probably add one to my Burnt Bronze M4 in the near future with blackened ends.
-
I emailed them about it to see if it’s an issue they care to address. I weighed the tubes, it comes in 2.4 ounces lighter than the carriercomp. 3.4oz vs. 5.8oz. If someone is adding the tube from the stock steel one, you’re looking at cutting half a pound. It’s hard to perceive the difference on 2.4 ounces. I’m sure it’s there, but it isn’t a night and day difference.

Haven’t confirmed, but Vertigofirearms would know better than anyone!

It seemed to be only at the tip. Once knocked in, it slid in without any resistance. There was no way the spring retainer can be compressed enough to fit in. I just left it out. It just makes getting the mag cap on with the spring loose a pain in the ass.
-
So I got the carbon fiber tube. It is pretty lightweight and feels solid. However I did run into some issues. We’re you able to install the spring retainer? My magazine follower had to be tapped in to fit. There is now way the retainer will crush enough to fit though.

Looks like your tape switch is on a picatinny segment on the Mlok? They sell one that fits directly to the mlok. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.opticsplanet.com/magpul-industries-m-lok-tape-switch-mounting-plate-surefire-st.html%3f_iv_amp=1 Not sure what light you have. If that’s a DF, I’d recommend getting the Modlite 18650 replacement body. It’s lighter and they did a better job with the mounting foot than Surefire did.

Thanks. I like it. Mine should be here Friday.

Benelli M4 -- Shell Stop Removal & Install
StrangerDanger replied to StrangerDanger's topic in Benelli
https://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/general-gunsmith-tools/punches/565-pin-punch-set-prod12625.aspx That's a Starrett brand punch. 3/32 size. They're not long enough to knock the pin all the way out. You'll need something longer in that size to fully remove the pin. I usually use one of the alignment pins linked above.- 33 replies

It might be scratched up from that Strike Industries rail.

Does anyone recognize these as parts for the M4?
StrangerDanger replied to Milspec's topic in Benelli
Definitely not oem parts. Those small screws look like some that come with the IWC rear QD Mount. Or maybe AR15 gas key screws. You never had one of those crappy side saddles from Tacstar, right? The washer and large screw look similar to what it uses. -
Great info, thanks for doing the leg work. 45 bucks is reasonable. I charge a 100 if that’s the only thing I’m doing. It’s free if doing other big work. I only charge a 100 since it’s a pain in the ass to take to the UPS place. The FFT NP3 steel tubes are nice. The only bad is they’re steel so they weigh a lot. The place doing the NP3 won’t attempt plating titanium anymore, so you’re stuck with a bead blast finish or a Cerakote paint. i have a carriercomp tube that was Np3+ plated back in the Robar era. I may sell it off if I like this carbon fiber tube.

Got any better pictures of the Briley tube? Their picture skills are lacking. I’m hoping the pattern is similar to the sexy Super Sports.

Summers are full of insane holidays in Italy. Half the country takes a month off to fornicate and fight. Ask any Italian girl, she’ll tell you. Covid probably isn’t helping anything either.

That’s how true hauntings are made!

If they were videos, they weren’t mine! Hopefully it wasn’t the 45 minute, ‘Smokin’ like a chmney,’ video! I’d probably stick with Blue Loctite for a carbon fiber magazine tube. I wouldn’t want to have to apply heat to it if I ever needed it apart.

Never add up parts! Live in denial and pretend it only costs as much as you told your wife.
