For years I heard you could not take this item apart because the extractor claw was held in place by a captive roll pin. Not true. I disassembled one this evening and it was pretty simple. While the roll pin is partially captive, you can get to the end of the roll pin from an angle. If you roll the bolt over, you'll see a larger open pocket. If you shine a light down inside the bolt, you will see the partially shrouded end of the roll pin protruding. You will need a small roll pin punch to hit the top of the partially exposed roll pin. You have to be careful not to bend your punch. So light strikes are needed. You will only be able to drive the roll pin out far enough to remove the extractor claw and spring. Enough of the roll pin will be exposed to get a good grip on it with a pair of pliers to remove the pin completely if necessary. You may be asking, "What purpose would I have to ever remove this?" For one, it'll get you access to the spring. Being able to replace the spring is a maintenance benefit. You'll also need to be able to remove these parts if you're doing a coating on the bolt (that's what I'm doing this time.) I didn't find too much debris trapped beneath the bolt surprisingly. However, it had been cleaned with an ultrasonic cleaner, so your mileage may vary.

Let me ask a guy I know if he wants this. If he doesn't, I'll buy it. I'll let you know by this evening. Thanks

Gotcha. Those parts do love to bounce off of your forehead. -

Thanks for pictures as always. On some models, is the spring/plunger difficult to compress? On all the M4's I've done, I found it pretty easy to do with my fingers. -

Thanks! Took myself a long time to talk myself into jumping through the hoops. The ATF agent that did my interview was really nice and helpful. Complete opposite of what I expected. It did help having eight elk along with two bucks laying in my front yard. He kept saying, "I can't F'ing believe this," while taking pictures and video with his eyephone. Now the efile 4473 software is a royal pain in the ass. :/ -
Benelli M4 -- carriercomp muted finish tube compared to NP3
StrangerDanger replied to StrangerDanger's topic in Benelli
It probably has a lot to do with the surface prep. Ie: who's doing the bead blasting. The matte finish of the carriercomp tube is a bit uneven anyway. It may not be exact, but it should be closer than it is now with the added benefit of having a slicked up NP3 internal tube. -

Slight update to the disassembly guide. I have been using an easier method of removing the carrier plunger and spring. You can remove/reinstall these two parts when the trigger pack is fully assembled. This makes it a lot easier when it comes to reassembly. You just grab the plunger and spring, compress it into the trigger group, and the other end will come out of the carrier latch easily. Just received my FFL license today too! -
Benelli M4 -- carriercomp muted finish tube compared to NP3
StrangerDanger posted a topic in Benelli
Bought this tube for a project. It's going on a Benelli M4 H20. No one was sure how close the match to NP3 would be. It's fairly close, but noticeably different. I've been told by another member that NP3 adhered to their carriercomp titanium tube. So I'm going to send it off to Robar for a better match for the client. -
Just got an email stating that my order was getting ready to ship today. Original order date was 4/22/2015. Muted finish full length. My seven year old daughter just ordered three black tubes the other day, probably see them in March or April.

Nice. Good to hear!

Item received. Perfect transaction. Beautiful floor by the way.

No extra shells in the 5 round tubes. Estimated weight savings would be about 2 - 2.5 ounces vs. the OEM tube. Plus the corrosion resistance and color match properties. I have a muted finish one on order since 4/21/2015. No word yet.

I'll take it. Pm me if available.

First, read up here regarding the receiver extensions. Your best bet is to replace the existing tube for a new one that has the proper notches in place. http://forums.benelliusa.com/showthread.php/31588-Benelli-M4-Receiver-Extension-Removal-Reinstallation-Guide?highlight=Benelli+m4+receiver+extension I have a few of the receiver extensions in stock cheaper than the Benelli parts store if you're interested. Mine are complete assemblies. As you can see, the job isn't for the faint of heart. A good gunsmith should be able to do it. Once my FFL license is in place, I'll accept M4's to do the modifications. As for your magazine tube, those are easy to replace. All you need is a heat gun. There are several quality aftermarket and factory options. As for 922® compliance, the general consensus is replacing four parts if using the factory collapsible stock. Most get an aftermarket magazine tube, a magazine follower, geissele hammer, fft trigger, fft disconnector, fft reproduction handguards. Take your pick, or just grab them all.

Got these yesterday from Australia. It's been a long fight with customs, but most of the parts are there. I still have to get the 'adjustable' stock over to him and a few other minor pieces. The M4's been used to kill a whole slew of bad piggies so far. We'll see if the hits go up with the RMR in place. So far, not a single failure has occurred in the field. That trigger group is grown by the one true God on the Elysian fields using a heretofore unused incantations before I magicked it down to Australia. I gentley wrapped them in wax paper before passing them along to you -- the fortunate consumer. Is that a Geiselle Hammer? Why yes it is, and a FFT Trigger and Disconnector too. But wait–they didn’t add…yes they did, yes they did indeed. They added a TTI Shell Elevator. Then before you know it, you notice the safety has been modified and significantly easier to use.

I believe the ATI one is a single piece. See ATI? I don't always just kick you in the ribs. https://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/benelli-m4-raven-stock-ati/

Good write up. It mirrors my experiences with the M4 except the cleaning part. On mine, I've just periodically added more oil and the firearm never had any failures related to dirt and grime. I went about 2500 rounds before I got bored and cleaned it for the **** of it. No surface rust or corrosion was detected, but I also live in Arizona, so your mileage may vary. You need to shake it down hard before you trust your life on it. 12 gauge recoil is brutal on accessories. Expect your light to hit the dirt if you don't have your rings tightened up sufficiently. Using tape can help with a little more bite on the ring's grip. I mark my fastener screws. Sometimes just with a silver sharpie. Sometimes with a paint pen if I have one. It will give you a visual reference to your fasteners to determine if they're loosening up under recoil. Check your choke periodically. Even tightening one down with a Briley choke wrench can still come loose.

Great buy. Buy with confidence. I've dealt with the seller many times in the past. You could gaypal gift it to him and not have any issues and avoid the commie fees. Someone better buy it quick, or I'll talk myself into buying another. Stev

Oh, you were serious? No, you couldn't have hurt it even if you tried. About the only thing even remotely possible to damage would be the front sight or maybe the bolt handle if you were jumped up and down on it.
