  1. Never force it. Sometimes it all goes together smoothly and sometimes it takes a little finessing. I start the barrel ring over the mag tube and then assemble the the halves of the guards together up into the front retaining ring on the barrel, then holdong the halves together tightly on the barrel, I slide the whole assembly down until the rear of the guards are held in the rear plate and the barrel extension is seated into the receiver. Sometimes it takes a slight bit of wrist action to align things perfectly. Keep in mind that there is a flat spring inside the barrel hand guard retaining ring that keeps the whole unit forward about 1/16" until it is compressed by the mag tube retaining nut. Just be patient, go slow, and you'll be surprised how easy it goes together.
  2. I have a M300 on my 590 and a M600 scout on my M4. Honestly, the M600 does not seem to have twice the lumen output @ 1000 vs 500 for the M300. It's brighter but, not twice as much. Anyway, I think the scout line are fantastic lights, bombproof.
  3. Federal ammo pretty much exclusively. Premium LE flight control 00 9 pellet 1325 FPS & LE low recoil slugs 1300 FPS & TRUBALL 1600 FPS. When in home defense mode loaded up with 00 no slugs.
  4. Good reviews guys. I jumped at the AU handle when I saw that it was 10 bucks. When I got it I immediately noticed that it is not the same handle as shown on their site. The pic they have on their site is exactly the same model that Botach has on their site for the Kley-Zion. Check it out. The one you get from AU is the fatter version than their picture. Anyway, I'm good with it unless it happens to fail. I did compare my OEM handle to it under a magnifying glass and the cuts on the nib and angle/size of the chamfer at the end of the nib are identical to the OEM which made me happy.
  5. It's a tricky job. You have to be patient and careful, but once you do it, it becomes easy. Ive done it a few times. When installing the NOVESKE plate, you just go in reverse order of disassembly. I could not find SD's tutorial on installing the new plate but I think it's in here somewhere.
  6. here you go....https://forums.benelliusa.com/topic/20857-benelli-m4-rear-sling-plate-removal/
  7. You got it! That's the puppy! I see that there is a lead time on the shipping from OP, I'd try and call them to see if it is indeed still available before I ordered cuz NOVESKE doesn't show it anymore..
  8. Well..I just tried to find the QD sling plate on the NOVESKE site and it's not there anymore. I guess they quit making it. Bummer.
  9. mickey d; I actually misspoke when I said that I have the QD cup in my M4 stock. I DO have it installed in my 590A1 stock but, I used the NOVESKE replacement sling plate on my M4 that has a QD cup on one side of it. But as I said, if you opt for the cup, it will work, the threads are long enough. The 590A1 stock has thicker walls than the M4 stock. I think the sling plate is the better option for the M4 unless you have the collapsable stock. It just takes a little work to replace the OEM plate with the NOVESKE plate. Sorry for the confusion
  10. AVA quit manufacturing a couple years ago. Nobody knows why. I think this is the only option now. It's a great mount. https://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/multi-light-benelli-m4-mount-scout/
  11. You're welcome! I have the IWC light mount which has QD attachment cups built in. https://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/multi-light-benelli-m4-mount-scout/
  12. Not Glen but I have installed the Noveske QD cup on my Benelli M4 standard pistol grip stock and my 590A1 stock and the threads are plenty long enough. No worries.
  13. Yeah, it's a pretty flimsy thing. I replaced mine with an Asgard shell carrier one anyway which is a more robust rail and is "advertised" to be a true Picatinny rail. I don't want co-witness anyway and that is why my consideration for an optic would include the Pic rail mount that can be purchased with the RMR.
  14. I have yet to install a dot optic on my M4. I have thought about it but I am a huge fan of the ghost ring sights. I have no issues quickly acquiring a target with them. In fact these type of open sights which are the same type that are on the M1 Garand and M14 rifle are considered to be the best designed open sights. Maybe a stupid question but, if mounting the Trijicon RMR on the pic rail instead of using a Scalar mount, when looking thru it, do you see the front sight in the FOV?
  15. Yes, the same 10403 fits all the M4 stocks.
  16. Could not agree more about felt recoil with these guns. I'm sure the NP3 helps too but Iv'e always thought that the design of the action itself, (the heavy bolt carrier with tail, the recoil tube and the gas system design) is what makes these guns so comfortable to shoot with heavy buck and slug loads. Especially compared to pump guns! The Limbsaver is a 10403, right?
  17. Check, and thanks. I recently purchased one of those from Arms Unlimited for 10 bucks when they had them on sale. Looks like a quality piece, seems to fit the same as the OEM but until I can test it on a range, I'll not be using it besides it's black and my gun is NP3. I don't mind the contrast actually, but it needs a good bit of range time before I'll trust it not to fly out.
  18. Very nice! Whose bolt handle is on that one?
  19. Alright SD! BRRRRRRRR....I'm glad I'm in southern Az.!!!!!!
  20. Here it is in writing; https://www.benelliusa.com/support/faq The Benelli rep told your people that because they plainly say that it is not safe to shoot slugs thru anything tighter than an IC. Obviously, lots of people ignore that advice and do it without apparent problems- yet.
  21. Is that a mag extension/cap combo? And who makes it?
  22. Nice work as always SD. Not one to dispute what you say but, I think those butt pads help~ but in the range of about 25% really. The OEM ones are like a hockey puck.
  23. Some Ca. AW laws apply to LEO's and some such as magazine capacity, they are exempt. I am not a lawyer but, I have "heard" that if the stock is pinned so it cannot move unless tools are applied, it technically would be legal. But, I'm not that brave, I wouldn't do it and I wouldn't recommend doing it. I mean, what's the point then?
  24. No, there is no provision for registering or exemptions. Once that section of the penal code went into effect 1/1/2000, that's it. Tax stamp and 922R are federal regs., not state. Even though that stock as you purchased it does not have the capacity to telescope, I'm surprised that it was sold in Ca.. It's the first Iv'e ever heard of. Maybe it's a recent addition of Ca. available M4's since it's unable to scope in and out. Has the "look" but doesn't work. Yeah, the only other legal options for a Ca. resident are the straight or "field stock" or, the more commonly found non collapsable pistol grip stock. Better you found out now before you spent $$$$.
