  1. Yeah, LOL.....more likely, an imbecile. We're not talking having black tint windows on your car here, it's guns and the Feds. I'd make sure that I was staying within the law.
  2. I did not know that, thanks for that info too.
  3. Good stuff, thanks! Looking forward to the next one. I just wish that manufacturers of ammo would be more accurate with what their claimed fps is Vs actual. Seems it's always quite a bit less no matter what type of gun/caliber you are shooting.
  4. Tho, it seems to me, that since the detent pin snaps into and out of the slot in the axle, that it could over time start to wear the metal and enlarge or otherwise deform the slot to where the detent pin won't hold the handle in securely anymore. I wouldn't do it. If it were mine, and a new spring and detent did not solve the problem and, if the issue is not there with the OEM handle, I'd just go back to the OEM. I never saw any reason to replace that OEM part anyway.
  5. I have not used anything but Remington and Federal brand ammo in my M4, Slugs and 00 buck, never tried anything smaller. 1300 to 1600 FPS stuff. Iv'e never had a malfunction. I have experienced cycling issues with Plastilube grease with my M14's with the few first rounds fired, but only in freezing weather. Never fired my M4 lubed with Plastilube in freezing temps. The old Plastilube rifle grease from the 1960's is pretty thick stuff. I mean really stiff grease.
  6. Interesting....I have used it all at one time or another. I have oiled up all the moving parts except the pistons and used grease on everything as well, and honestly never had any reliability issues with my gun. Even the very thick viscous Plastilube grease has not had a negative effect, tho Iv'e stopped using it on my M4, just using it exclusively on my M14 clone rifles. Probably the NP3 plating helps some, as Iv'e read you've stated. Right now my M4 is wearing oil. I do actually use a tiny amount of oil on the mag spring, I put a few drops on my gloved hand and massage the spring. Do you think the Benelli oil is any better quality than other premium gun oils?
  7. So, do you use oil on areas such as the bolt carrier rails on the M4's? Iv'e wondered why Benelli ships the guns with oil. This stuff by CherryBalmz is kinda in between an oil and a grease. I'm looking forward to trying it out, sparingly.
  8. BTW, they've got specials going on. I got a bottle of it for the cost of shipping.
  9. My only "issue" with products like this is the tiny amount of that you get for the cost of it. I usually break down and clean my guns after every shooting session so I tend to go thru a lot of grease. I probably tend to use too much, as the old "a little is good, more is better" approach, however flawed that line of thinking might be. For years, Iv'e been using old technology military greases like Lubriplate 130A and Plastilube, which is pretty cheap stuff. I tend to feel that what they charge you for a thimble full of these hi tech greases is about what it costs them to produce a gallon of it. That's what mostly steers me away from trying them. Yeah, I get it, they need to make a profit, and there's R&D costs and all that but, I can't help feeling that the mark-up is excessive on things like this. That said, Iv'e ordered some and will try to use it how they recommend and see how it lasts for me.
  10. Maybe his name is Charlie Sheen. Actually, it was never my intention to try to dissuade anyone from buying his gun.
  11. This ad here, is the same ad he posted at Sniper'sHide (where he sold it) it says nothing of the issue he encountered with the gun. Here is a second thread he posted up of him saying how the gun has functioning issues with some ammo. https://forums.benelliusa.com/showthread.php/33956-UPDATE-August-18-Benelli-M4-Ammo-Issues-and-Review If you recall, this is the same gun he tried to sell here once before for almost a thousand bucks more than this second time. He removed the price and the pics of it. https://forums.benelliusa.com/showthread.php/33943-FS-Benelli-H20-LEO-BNIB So he said it's sold. Then the next day after an apparent epiphany, he posts; "God help me, I had offers but I just couldn't sell it." https://forums.benelliusa.com/showthread.php/33948-I-could-not-do-it-God-help-me-I-could-not. Then he puts it up for sale again in this thread, several weeks after he posts the problems with it, for almost a thousand bucks less than the first time. And, does not mention anything about reliability issues he had with some ammo he used. Yeah that's right, when you sell something, full disclosure. What a joke. Zero credibility.
  12. And the standard M1014 barrel?
  13. Yeah...what they say but, might it not be because the barrels that don't have removable chokes like the 14" and M1014 barrels are modified choke? I don't know or really care, I just go off what they state on that link I posted. I'm sure that I'll never use a modified choke in my gun. If I see a substantial drop in accuracy from the IC to the cylinder, I'll prob. just go back to the IC. I bought the trulock chokes from Brownells. Maybe it was Midway;https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2243144408/benelli-choke-tube-benelli-except-crio-12-gauge
  14. My gun came with a 3-notch choke which is a modified. I did not try any accuracy checks with the gun until I put in the IC choke. Benelli does not recommend any choke tighter than an IC for rifled slugs.https://www.benelliusa.com/customer-service/faq I actually read somewhere that a cylinder choke is what should be used for rifled slugs- Not anything tighter. Somewhere you read one thing another place you read something conflicting with that. I put in a cylinder choke but, have not taken it to the range yet to compare the two chokes with the same ammo. I have never had anything but flawless functioning with any ammo I have used. The lowest "stated" velocity on the ammo Iv'e used is 1300 FPS. The Federal LE 127 RS hyrdra-Shok. Never tried any of the 1145 fps stuff.
  15. My experience with an IC choke was extremely good accuracy with Federal slugs. Truball, LE low recoil, and the standard 1600 fps HV rounds. 5 shots in one ragged hole at 15 & 25 yards. Don't have data for the Mod. choke in my gun.
  16. In the interest of full disclosure, this is the same gun, is it not?https://forums.benelliusa.com/showthread.php/33950-Mixed-Results-Today-First-Time-with-my-New-M4-Benelli-Report

    AVA Tactical

But, has your CC been charged yet?
  18. Good deal. I have a couple of the Scouts, a M600 on my M4 and a M300 on my 590A1. Another option, maybe you know is the IWC Scout light mount. I have used both the AVA and the IWC and I have gone back to the IWC mount on my M4. I decided that like it better than the AVA mount. You know how it is...messing around and trying different stuff.
  19. Not sure about being able to use the standard Surefire DF body, altho he did say in a post somewhere in this thread, that the new mounts design will probably be driven by the fact that Surefire was bringing the new larger body scout DF to market. To use his words "lumens is king". That said, how do you like the new DF? Have you compared it's lighting power using the rechargeable battery Vs the Lith 123 batteries?
  20. The barrels are parkerized, no? I don't know of any touch-up product for a parkerized finish. If you use a cold blue type of product on a parkerized finish, it'll make a black mark and make it look worse, I think.
  21. Except that you've completely missed the ball on the fact that piling a bunch of junk high above, and all over the sides of any weapon used for fast action/self defense purposes, such as you have done with that Frankenstein's monster you created, makes it heavy, unbalanced, and unwieldy. Exactly what you don't want in a self defense weapon.
  22. Nice effort. And a long haul for you, it sounds like. Just not a fan of stuff that sits high above receivers though. If you don't like the A&S original color, you're probably aware that they offer them in black now and without their name on it, if you prefer. They did offer the new versions back when at a nice discount, if you were one of the first 100 people who bought one of the originals. I have one of their originals too, on my NP3 H20 gun and I don't mind the color contrast with that finish at all. Not enough to spend another 2 franklins for a black one. Was the standard PG stock too long a LOP for you?
  23. Yes, it's really quite simple to do. I used a butane fireplace starter to apply direct heat without the periphery of the stock getting flame, first to the nut, then to the tombstone and a slave nut to remove and re-install the stud. Patience, a little confidence, and an understanding of how it's put together is all that you need. Thanks to SD & benelliwerkes for that info.
  24. Yeah...sorry 'bout that but, there is a solution without drilling more holes into your precious stock! I have one of these mounted in my standard PG stock and it's most excellent. https://www.noveske.com/collections/parts/products/benelli-qd-sling-plate Or, if you must have the ambi option, there's this one too, but one side will have to use a para-clip type swivel such as Magpul makes.https://www.noveske.com/collections/parts/products/qd-hook-sling-plate As SD stated, you want the QD socket and sling swivel on the opposite side of your cheek weld on the stock whether a lefty like me or a right handed shooter. That way when the gun is slung across your body, the sling will pull the stock in close to your chest, not roll it away from your body. And, the sling and swivel is not in your face when the gun is up to fire. Here is an excellent tutorial on how to remove the sling plate, easy peasy. https://forums.benelliusa.com/showthread.php/33262-Benelli-M4-Rear-Sling-Plate-Removal
