  1. Yeah, I meant unimpressed as far as the machining aspect of it how it compared to my OEM hammer, I didn't see much difference. I was like meh, yeah, it's an M4 hammer alright. Nothing to rave about just as long as it works. I would put it on ebay if you want to get a price for it.
  2. So how do you ID a Geissele hammer? The only marking on mine in "US". Of note is that the outside radius around the hammer pin hole was left in the white, not anodized, and I think the hammer hooks sear contacts are also left in the white. I do remember being rather unimpressed with it when I got it about 2 years ago. I wondered what all the hoopla was about it.
  3. Sorry, my mistake. It's stippling! Excellent work!
  4. Damn! You are very handy with that grip tape stuff! I can detect no flaw whatsoever in your application of it! Love how you created the hood effect over/around the skull. What kind/brand/type is that stuff? Great job!
  5. em....maybe on a standard parkerized one, not so sure on the h2o. looks like a barber's pole.
  6. Hey, if you are partial to the OEM M4 hand guards, but would like a really nice upgrade, send them to Tango Arms for stippling. Or if you want to keep the originals, you can purchase a set of new OEM's that they have stippled. They do a super clean job. Not cheap but, as you're finding out, no quality aftermarket parts are for this gun. Cheers!
  7. Welcome to the world of the best semi-auto combat shotgun in existence! Can't give you the pros and cons of Cerakote Vs NP3 except that I know the former is a ceramic based coating and the latter is nickel based. Generally speaking, I think that the NP3 is a more premium product. Both are supposed to provide an enhancement of "lubricity" to the weapons moving parts and are a corrosion protection. I think Benelli is going cheaper these days with the Cerakote and polymer trigger housings, just my opinion on why the changes. ROBAR NP3 is expensive. StrangerDanger made a post where in his experience, the NP3 guns operated with a superior smoothness compared to the standard parkerized M4. As for acquiring a metal trigger housing, you probably have already seen the thread here "Paper or plastic" and if not, go to it and it will tell you where to get one. I replaced my OEM cast aluminum one in my gun just because the A&S housing is much nicer, finely machined, from billet aluminum, trigger housing than the somewhat rough casting OEM. When installing the parts in it, I noticed that the pretty sloppy "hammer wobble" I had with the OEM casting, practically disappeared in the A&S housing. It's a very nice upgrade. Welcome and enjoy the new M4!
  8. Thanks, that's what I figured but, I wanted to hear why your preference between the two. The 4MOA dot seems more appropriate for a shotgun to me. And if you're not going to run an NVD, why not have more daylight settings.
  9. Question for you about your choice of optic....why the H-2 with 4MOA over the T-2 with 2MOA what is the difference besides the size of the dot? I saw that the T-2 has NV settings while the H-2 does not. The H-2 is a little cheaper also.
  10. Great review. Iv'e had the Limbsaver pad on mine for almost two years now and yes, it's much better than the hockey puck OEM butt pad altho, I think the recoil of the M4 with it's design is pretty tame with heavy loads even, nothing like a pump gun! I love the Tango stippled fore ends as well. As far as the IWC mount, tho I don't have mine in hand yet, I looked at it online for a long time before I chose it, I am not so sure that the design will hold up with a sling attached to it, with all the side pulling forces that a fully loaded M4's weight will put on it. M4s are pretty heavy, fully loaded with 00 or slugs. Time will tell on that. I don't plan on ever attaching a sling to my M4 anyway. It goes to the range and stands sentry duty, and I don't feel that I need a sling for either purpose. I decided on the IWC mount as opposed to the other offering strictly for it's minimalist styling of impact on the weapon and it's approach to mounting a mini scout light. It's a neat little item. For me, it's always a balance between functionality and aesthetics. Great CS at IWC and also at Tango.
  11. Sweet! Iv'e got an IWC mount & Scout light in the mail right now. My M4 has an ADS pic rail and 6 shell saddle on it. I like having the option to carry shells or not. Just press a button and the saddle is removed. If I eventually put on an aimpoint, I'd go with the standard pic rail mount. Nice effort! Clean and simple is best.
  12. I think the font they use for the markings is very cool, in any case.
  13. Understood. Iv'e had good luck using the tool that came with the gun. But Iv'e not fired 500 rounds in one day either.
  14. Yeah, I can understand the desire for one that is "as issued" to the military. I get that. All of my M14 clones are built with USGI surplus M14 parts and I wouldn't have one any other way. But only an idiot or someone who is completely negligent (which you obviously are not) about weapons maintenance, would allow the two situations you mention to happen. It's like the people who never change the oil in their vehicles, or perform other required maintenance, just put in gas and it'll run forever, right? Iv'e switched the chokes around on my M4 and have not experienced either freezing to the barrel or loosening of the choke. It stays put when I want it to, and it comes out when I want it to. A tiny amount of anti-sieze or grease on the choke threads is warranted on these guns. I think the military barrel version designed the way it was, with it's features, is born more from a military practicality standpoint than anything else.
  15. That's a shame...like everywhere else, business is all about the $. Mine is an early 2014 H20 model and it thankfully, is an NP3 gun. I know, the NP3+ is an upgrade but at least I feel that mine is a "genuine" H20 model. That, and the TG being polymer now, bugs. Mine also had the original cast metal TG which I just replace tonight with the A&S piece which is very nice. Happy with it. Yeah, the color is a bit off but not bad in my eyes, Iv'e gotten used to it and I really don't care about the company name on it. Sorry for the thread hijack unobtanium, I'll shut up now.
  16. When did they stop sending them out to Robar for NP3 coating? I just looked on their site dated 1/17/2017 and it says the "new H20 titanium cerakote finish"? WTF? In the pic I noticed that the bolt carrier is not finished the same, it's black cerakote.
  17. Well, I guess someone has to keep this board alive with posts. My inclination would be, I'm not letting someone else muck with my stuff, LOL...what in **** did you use before to discolor the receivers, a torch?
  18. I just got mine from A&S yesterday. It's a very nicely made piece. The receiver fit and mating to the stock is perfect, slides into and fits exactly like the OEM cast aluminum piece. No gaps or play whatsoever in the receiver or stock.
  19. Agree 100%. I just got mine from Tango Arms and they are really nice! Great customer service there as well. They Look better than stock and are really grippy. Very nice clean job with the stippling. For those of us do not feel the need to hang rocket launchers, can openers and BBQ tools on their hand guards, and who prefer the clean lines and classy look of the M4 fore end, these are a very nice upgrade.
  20. I get what you're saying but in the case of Geissele, it seemed to me that they would do a run, which would be sold almost immediately, then there would be months before they would release more, then those would be quickly sold out again. It was months before I was able to obtain one over 2 years ago. They were never sitting around collecting dust anywhere. Maybe they were just too much of a PITA to make. But, those of use who are willing to pay for premium parts, probably are willing to pay a little more, if that's what it takes. As already stated, it's a small niche market.
  21. How did you end up with a black one? Also the fit on yours looks perfect, whereas the fit on bugout6's looks to have a pretty big gap between the back of his trigger guard and the front piece on the pistol grip. In any case, I ordered one today, we'll see what I get. My M4 has the metal trigger housing but I ordered this one only because the finely machined one by A&S Vs the OEM seems more fitting to such a fine weapon as the M4. Edit; I see now that the pics make it look a different color, it's a light charcoal color, right? Both of you have different stocks than I do as well, so that can account for a gap in the fit. I have the OEM pistol grip stock on mine and the part that butts against the back of the trigger guard is more curved and fits perfectly flush against it. I have an H2O model and I think the color of the new guard will look good as it does on yours.
  22. So what's the consensus on these new trigger housings? Is there a gap/void in the fit to the sides of the receiver well and pistol grip? Kinda looks like there is when I look at the pics in this thread. They look really nice. I have the aluminum trigger housing in my M4, not the new polymer type but if these fit like the OEM do, I would consider buying one just for the aesthetic value, they're very pretty.
  23. Never used the Winchester but, I have shot lots of the Remington LE Tactical low recoil slugs, (1300 FPS) and they work fine never had a problem.
  24. Thanks for the suggestions. The hand guard spring is installed correctly, it can only go in one way if it is to be held in place by the retaining slots for it and to also allow the clearance for the top of the guards. There is more spring resistance on the cap plunger pin than on the ejector pin when using my finger to depress it, and nothing amiss with the witness hole behind it. The pin protrudes about 1/16" beyond the face of the support ring. No, I'm thinking it's either a problem with the mag tube not being to spec in some way or the mag cap detents not cut correctly to keep it from proper engagement with the plunger pin. I don't understand why FFT coats the threads on the tubes instead of leaving them in the white like CC does.
