Steve has answered the question. The receiver is made to use a tapered mount. The factory rail or some other system that mimics the tapered rail must be used. I'm not a fan of shimming.

They are helpful, but certainly not necessary. Insert a screwdriver into the center hole and pry up one side. Then switch the opposite side and finish the job. Cup your hand over the cap in order to catch the cap and spring. If you need instructions for reinstalling the spring then you probably have no business owning any guns.

Stop doing that. The bolt needs to be fully closed (in battery) in order for the gun to function properly. You should release it from no less than halfway back to insure that it fully rotates and closes. The condition is commonly known as the "Benelli Click".
