  1. Post a link for a right-handed one and let's see what we can do.
  2. It cost him nothing. That's the crazy part. We took a well to do doctor that day and he scored his first can. He was so elated that he told us to take his ducks and whatever else we wanted to the taxidermist and tell the guy that he would pick up the bill.
  3. My hunting partner got his pair of cans back from the taxidermist the other day. I snapped this with my phone, but the pic doesn't do it justice at all. Gorgeous mount! And that bling on the hen makes it POP!
  4. 1) Yes it can. There are no adjustment screws, but a skilled smith can do wonders with files and stones. 2) No, it can't. 3) I guess it could be done, but you'd bet way better off upgrading to the FNAR or similar. 4) It's not likely to help much, but it sure can't make it much worse. The R1 is built to be inherently inaccurate. This has been covered here numerous times.
  5. I still don't like the spammers. That's not what I was talking about.
  6. The stock is primed and then dipped. You can remove the finish with Acetone, but bead blasting would be a better approach. You'll want to be careful with the acetone. Work outdoors using gloves and skin protection. You'll want to neutralize the acetone with water as soon as you have the film removed. Otherwise, it could damage plastics.
  7. I still drop in every now and then. How ya been, you old coot?
  8. Each Benelli model has a published set of Specifications. Those include the minimum load that the gun is designed to reliably cycle. Some guns cycle the girly loads and others do not. Aftermarket components can be added that improve performance with light target loads. They are available from Surecyle.
  9. IC is fine for both slugs and buckshot.
  10. 12 million people out of work and somebody gave those two idiots a job?
  11. Worst season I've had in a very long time. Ducks simply never got pushed South this year.
  12. You can usually pickup a choke tube wrench to fit them at any decent sporting goods store. You may want to call Benelli CS and they might send you one FOC. Every home Defense situation is different. Do you have children or others who live with you and who would possibly be in adjacent rooms? If so, you should consider the dangers of pass-thru with drywall and similar materials. If pass-thru is an issue, then you'll probably want to stick to lower velocity smaller diameter shot to minimize the risk of hurting a loved one. If you're pretty much alone, and not in an apartment building, then step it up to 4 buck. You could pick up a few pieces of drywall and test various loads if that is a concern.

    Old 123

That's the M1 before it was the M1. Age can be determined by the proof marks.
  14. Geese are TOUGH! You are probably getting body shots and not head shots. It's a fairly common issue with goose hunters, because they don't believe the birds are moving as fast as they are and they under-lead them. I focus only on the head and shoot it as I would a dove. Same lead for distance. If you thump them with a couple or three to the head and a couple more in the neck they are not going to get too far. I've killed BIG Canadas at 35 yards with Black Cloud 4's this way. Try to avoid shooting at the South end of Northbound geese altogether.
  15. A week to ship from one side of the country to the other. Seriously, I NEVER order a shotgun from a dealer that doesn't have it in stock. Too many other ways to find what I want and have it shipped in to my FFL dealer for transfer.
  16. It's safe, but I would pattern the gun with that choke vs some others. Sometimes a tight choke and larger shot don't mesh too well and the pattern will open up on you.
  17. Benelli doesn't make guns that don't fit a certain market niche. I suspect that's the reason.
  18. You can get Black Cloud in #4 from anywhere that sells Black Cloud. They are an excellent choice for medium-sized ducks such as mallards, ringnecks, gadwalls, and blacks. I've killed mallards at 40 yards with 3" Black Cloud, so 3-1/2" should do as well or slightly better. I also killed a deer with them and lots of geese with them. For larger birds like Sea Ducks you should step up to #2 shot.

  20. It sounds like your gun had an aftermarket pad on it. Probably a Limbsaver. http://www.limbsaver.com/store/product.php?productid=16244
  21. Darn it! I wish I'd seen this thread earlier. I just saw one on gunbroker a while ago for $415 / free shipping.
  22. My SBEII completely ejected two chokes. One was a factory choke and the other was a Black Cloud aftermarket one. I use extended tubes only now and I'm always checking them during hunts.
