I think it's a bit more durable than Benelli's factory finish, but it will scratch if it gets hit the right way.

Usually a few on ebay every week. Also gunbroker.com, gunsamerica.com. Also, search these forums for "extension" or browse through recent threads.

GunKote finishes will match the color well and provide added protection and durability. A number of shops use them, but they're pretty easily applied by the average hobbyist as well.

Thanks, Butch. I've been thinking of letting her go. Would you be interested in adopting her for $2,500?

870 is a Remington pump. I had an 870 for years. When I was in my early twenties, I bet a buddy that I could shoot three as quickly as he could with his 1100 (semi-auto). $5.00 bought a lot of gas back then

SgtCathy, I was wondering if you were actually a woman. I know the nickname pretty much gives it away, but you never know these days. That devious plan pretty much answers my question. Men just think they can be underhanded, but when a real pro steps in, the cream rises to the top!

Will he fit in a crock pot? Just kidding Sounds like they did all the right things. Nice to see pics of him instead of him being a curious looking spot in the road.

Paul, AKA Bono? First and foremost ask your sone which he'd prefer. A pumper always makes a good first gun. Kind of like a learning to drive on a stick shift. The pump offers a measure of safety by controlling when the next round is chambered, and it helps to understand the mechanics of the weapon as well. That said, there's nothing quite like a quality O/U for sense of tradition. Of course, most youngsters are less concerned with tradition and more interested in the latest/greatest. So, in that respect, the Cordoba, Montefeltro, or that new M2 20 ga. may be of interest? Shot a few clays and took it dove hunting once last year. About 100 rounds total. Otherwise, I just take it out and cuddle it every now and then.

Oh yeah, I do still have this little beauty

They've been strutting here for 3 weeks, at least. I've been watching a group of four mature toms for several weeks. This week, the group is down to three and the boss gobbler is surrounded by hens every morning. We've got 4 more weeks to wait. It's not looking good. 15-20 years ago we got light snows and heavy frosts through April. This Saturday is supposed to be mid 80's.

This year again is unseasonably warm. As a result, the local gobblers have already begun strutting and rounding up their hens. Flambeau has recognized this perennial problem and has devoted several years of research into finding an effective means of stopping the gobblers from wanting to breed too early. At long last, they have introduced their new Strutstopper decoy. Strutstopper uses a patented technology which has been proven to make any male's snood go limp in a matter of seconds, and to keep him out of the mood for at least 24 hours. CAUTION: Extended use of this decoy may render mature gobblers impotent or in some cases, completely gay!

I upgraded to SBEII from a Wingmaster 870.

There's just one problem with keeping our comments to ourselves. IT'S A FORUM!! May I suggest gunbroker.com, gunsamerica.com?

I hope to shoot some 165's this weekend. I'll post results if it happens.

Yes, I have a 30-06 that groups well enough for a semi-auto.
-
Yup. Marketing and gimmics have disappointed many a hunter/shooter over the years. EVERY BOSS I've ever seen was excrutiatingly loud and did nothing for accuracy. I think smart load development through reloading is the best approach to repeatable accuracy. That, and practice - Lots of practice. I'd rather have total confidence in a single shot than hope in five or more.

With regards to your barrell interchange question. The Benelli barrell ships with everything you need to change from one caliber to another, so the answer is yes.
-
The lenght of the bolt will not make any difference with regards to accuracy. The accuracy advantage of the short and super short magnums is in the the case dimensions itself. By having the powder lying in a shorter and more compact compartment, the ignition from shot to shot is more uniform than it can be with the longer cases. One drawback in using the WSM's in semi-autos is that, because the case is shorter and fatter, you typically can only get three in the magazine, whereby the standard length cases would allow for four rounds.

For the novices who may be reading, flooding corn is not a typical agricultural process. It's allowed, for some reason, in states where otherwise baiting is illegal. The corn or other grain crops are flooded for no other reason than to congregate large numbers of waterfowl so that they can be easily taken by otherwise unskilled or lazy-*** rich "hunters". Some would argue that the crops are harvested first, then the fields are flooded. If my farm equipment left as much corn on the ground as these guys' stuff did, I'd take it back to John Deere for a refund. PS: HGWT, nothing personal, but this is a sensitive subject for me and it hits a very raw nerve. [ 03-06-2006, 06:05 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]
