Never had a problem with mine. Sounds like a bad stud. Carry it back and ask the dealer to take a look or call Benelli customer service and ask for a replacement stud.

Fantastic pics, guys! Mudhen, great, great stuff. I'm getting stronger just looking at these God, I wanna shoot somethin'!

Saw it. I can't believe they just gave away one of this area's oldest and best-kept secrets about turkey hunting like that! My grandfather used to hunt them the same way, and there are several groups in the area who still use dogs. Pretty neat stuff.

Pretty slick. I usually just cut the breasts out of my ducks and geese, but this should work well on upland birds.

n7usn, Please start a new thread with your question. You'll get more exposure than at the end of one which is basically dead.

The manual is available on the Italian Benelli website. Click - Customer Service. The magazine has a limiter plug in it, which restricts the capacity of the magazine to 2 shells. Removing the plug increases the capacity to 4 + 1. [ 11-18-2005, 07:03 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

I gave up after several weeks of waiting to hear back.

Comparing ducks to most upland game is kind of like comparing a cashmere sweater to a Kevlar vest. Waterfowl are tough customers, and it typically takes more to bring them down than it does for their short-flighted cousins. Think about where these birds have come from to get to Kansas, and think about how they spend their nights paddling one foot in near freezing water. Waterfowl are also deceptively fast and typically require more lead than other gamebirds. Choose your choke based upon where the majority of the shots are going to be, and make do closer in and further out. It's about all anyone can do. As your experience increases, so will your kill ratios. But there will always be those few ducks and geese that seem to be bulletproof. You'll get a piece of them, but they'll still leave there like they could make it to Mexico without stopping. When hunting ducks over decoys, I like modified, but if the weather turns nasty and they start dropping right in, I'll go to imp.cylinder. [ 11-17-2005, 09:21 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

Gunbroker.com, AuctionArms.com, and GunsAmerica.com all offer similar services. As savage pointed out, you have to do your homework and know what you're doing. I have purchased two and sold one weapon on these sites without any problems whatsoever. Know what your costs are going to be up-front. You'll need a FFL dealer in your state to receive the gun and register it to you. This means you will pay a fee for this service as well as shipping charges. Luckily, I have a guy who deos mine for $25. I'm VERY lucky to have him. Some can charge 3 times that much, especially in California. All of the sites have links to put you in touch with transfer dealers. Many list their fees on the site.

Many, many discussions here on barrel lengths. Benelli offers different lengths because opinions and needs vary. Many shooters like shorter lengths when hunting in blinds or heavy cover. Just as many others like longer barrels for their increased sighting plane and smoother follow through on the range and in the field. Using equivalent chokes and loads, a 26 and 28 will pattern the same. Barrel length does not affect pattern density the way it used to. You can view several informative videos here. General duck season starts Saturday and firearms deer season starts Mondya in VA. This strong front is one welcomed sight! [ 11-15-2005, 07:44 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

I don't think the subtle differences of how the cartridge is loaded will be discernable out to 250 or so yards. It would be more likely that the angle of the muzzle, relevant to the horizon, and temperature variations would have greater bearing on accuracy. Most larger caliber rifle cases are not completely filled with powder. Therefore, the charge can shift within the case. With the barrel pointed up, the powder settles at the back end, on the primer. With the muzzle pointed down, the charge drifts away from the primer. These variations lead to slight pressure differences and can affect accuracy, although only very slighlty. Part of the success of the WSM and WSSM calibers is attributable to the shorter cases giving more uniform burn rates by allowing less shifting of the charge. Ambient temperature variations can also make pressures go up (when warmer) and down (when colder). Oh yeah, and elevation (ft. above sea level) affects accuracy because of lower oxygen levels and less dense air, as you move up. All of these factors contribute - slightly. By and large, the variations will be negligible, unless you're competing where 1000ths make or break you. Sight in your weapon at 90 degrees / 50% humidity near the coast, with the muzzle elevated.... Then go hunting in the Rockies at 9,000 ft. and 12 degrees, and shoot down into a canyon ---- Yeah, you could easily miss at 250-300 yards, due to all the variables working against you at the same time. I contacted them and gave only my serial number. A new cap was dispatched to me immediately. They may have changed the policy since then, but I don't see the logic - as long as your sn indicates the earlier design. Ask for Paula Murdock.

Very much so. Just cut it about 1/2" Shorter than the length of two 2-3/4" shells and you're good to go. [ 11-15-2005, 06:37 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

It's a light oil that is to be used to lube a clean gun. I recommend Hoppes Elite Gun Cleaner for cleaning. Do not expose the dipped camo finish to any solvent based cleaner, including the Hoppes. On the camo surfaces, wipe them clean with a damp cloth.

Not you. However, I would like to congratulate you on moving up after only two years in the 7th

What grade are you in?

I love this time of year

The shooting range. Each and every gun will pattern differently. Buy different sizes and brands of ammo and go to the range. Test easch load for yourself and learn what your gun and you are capable of doing. Learn more here

You can shoot slugs designed for smoothbore guns through the original barrel and the cylinder or imp. cylinder choke. A rifled barrel would likely improve accuracy, but it is not something you have to have.

Nice going, Junior! What kind of duck did you get?
-
It may cycle light target loads after break-in, but it's designed to cycle standard target loads which generate 140 kg or more of kinetic energy. There is no adjustable comb on the Super Sport or Sport II. Shims allow for some adjustment of cast on or off and drop at heel. The drop change values can be viewed in the owner's manuals, which are available on the Italian website.

You should call Benelli customer service regarding these issues. My forearm hangs a bit when coming off, but it is not cracked. The choke tube fit does not sound right to me. I've never noticed mine doing that.
