  1. Great gun really. What you'll find is you won't baby it. You'll throw it on rough surfaces. Drop it on the ground. Lean it against rough objects. Can't be beat for 25 bucks.
  2. How much? You should ask Kip if he'd make you a shorty titanium tube for it.
  3. I'm selling one on gunbroker. Brand new dirt cheap. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=168078230
  4. I wasn't inside the park on this trip. I was close, another mile or so and I would have been in their jurisdiction. However, I'm told that the law is now in effect where you can carry within the park according to State, County and City laws. I don't have a NV CCW, so I just open carried. We were in such a remote area, I didn't expect to see any NPS Rangers anyway. By 6pm, they go home and leave the Park unprotected. You can check out the laws for your particular park here: http://www.nps.gov/index.htm The law in Arizona is better than on the Nevada side. Clark County is full of douches and have implemented a lot of additional laws. Places like these aren't rare out this way. These places were all built around the same time the Manson house was out in Death Valley. The more remote they are, the better they've held up over time. Fewer douchebags visit them basically. http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/static.panoramio.com/photos/original/18093569.jpg Overlooking I-15 near Baker California from the Blue Bell Mines. http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/static.panoramio.com/photos/original/9138439.jpg This place was the best. Unfortunately someone burned it. The best place to sleep there was on the flat roof.
  5. I'd offer my assistance, but none seem to survive when I flatten them out for some reason. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3243/3028305070_ce6eed7222_b.jpg For a size reference, those are 37 x 13.5 Toyo MT Tires on 17 reemz.
  6. http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/static.panoramio.com/photos/original/35131754.jpg The remote lake Mohave is behind the comfort inn. It is the lake directly below Hoover Dam. http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/static.panoramio.com/photos/original/35131738.jpg Almost ran this guy over. They can move pretty quick when you're flying down a dirt road at 60mph. They're pretty rare to find out here anymore.
  7. I spent most of the day out in the Mojave yesterday exploring mines and everything a typical liberal democrat would say should be banned. In other words, it was a fun day. I took a couple photos of my M4's at a Hills Have Eyes type building that we found in the middle of BFE. It's the type of place you could imagine dueling banjos coming from the porch. This place was in Clark County Nevada, South East of Searchlight Nevada (hometown of everyone's favorite senator). The mine is called the Goldenrod. We got there at sundown, which made for perfect lighting conditions. Most of the relics (ie: abandoned junk) appear to be from the 50's. Not another human around for probably 15 miles. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4033/4580392901_b11021ec5b_b.jpg None of the bullet holes were from me. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4006/4580392673_b5514b9ced_b.jpg An engine block to an old dump truck that was still onsite nearby.
  8. I'm selling a factory bolt release in the event you're worried about modifying your only one. It's listed on Gunbroker. It's brand new. It's for a M4, not sure if they are the same.
  9. The acorn nut has a nylock washer. So consider it a one time use type of item. Brownells sells a replacement.
  10. This. We'll hear about another epic run on a gunshow from Hookster where he spent all the animal hospitals money. LaRue is bad for your bank account, and Benelli rails.
  11. Think of it as an extended magazine cap that adds one additional round. My guess is the spring retainer is abandoned. The spring is probably held captive by just the magazine cap. I wonder if a longer spring will be required? The comp just screws into the choke threads. Some may want the extended magazine cap to act as a stand off for door breaching.
  12. True. Every company underestimates their timeframe for releasing a product. I remain hopeful since I have to buy two.
  13. You have to hit that throw lever to get that EOTech magnifier to come off right? Whatever you do, don't try the Aimpoint one on a LaRue mount. It'll be a costly mistake. Getting your barrel contoured down would probably be the biggest benefit you could come by for the money. It'll loose half a pound up front where it counts. Just try not to do any 500 round full auto mag dumps with the lighter profile. I assembled the majority of my OD green MRP lastnight. It still needs sights and optics though. Looking forward to seeing your buck a shot rifle!
  14. Mesa Tactical has a stock coming out in July. For handguards, Surefire makes a railed forend called the M80. It's ok, but I would rather have the factory handguards.
  15. I liked the reticle on the EOTech. Hated the adjustment buttons. Hated I had to turn it on all the time. The weapon was never a grab and go. You'd have to mash the buttons to get it up and running. Battery life was weak. The housing of the 552 was a monster. It took up the entire top rail of the M4. With the T1, pulling the optic more to the rear reduces the tunnel vision effect. It doesn't feel like I have tunnel vision. On the CompM4, the tunnel vision was bad. You have so much sight body around the glass that it obstructs your FOV. My EOTech made it through 5000 rounds of 12 gauge before I retired it and then eventually sold it. So far, I have a 1000 rounds on the T1. Right now, my MRP and Benelli M4's T1's are on burning away. In a couple years, I'll swap out their batteries just for assurance. For what it's worth, the EOTech corroded my batteries too.
  16. Brownells US made magazine follower.
  17. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3475/4565242910_6ae50a2b52_b.jpg With my daughters favorite stuffed animals. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3392/4565242968_d14e62c904_b.jpg
  18. Your photos came out really good. Taking a photo of the reticle is a real PITA without a manual focus. I considered going the same route with the optic. I ended up going with the Aimpoints since most of my targets are well within 50 yards. I'd go with a SBR again, but I travel out of State with it weekly. Too much hassle to take a Class 3 weapon out of State so often. I tried mounting my magnifier as far to the rear as possible like I've seen others do, but it didn't work for me. I shoot nose to charging handle. So I had to push it forward to get proper eye relief. I wish Aimshot would make a FDE rubber cover for the 3x magnifier. Here's a couple barrel-less shots: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3500/4565242732_526c4a63c0_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3535/4565242844_ac511c880a_b.jpg
  19. Sure thing. My barrels are at ADCO right now. I'm having the .223 gas port opened more to function better with anemic ammo and my 22lr contoured to .625", cut to 16" OAL with a PWS brake pinned and painted. Also sent my second MRP's barrel in for a similar treatment but in OD green. The LaRue pivot mount is what makes the 3x magnifier a winner. What sucks is Failzero no longer accepts parts to be coated. So now I have to go through Robar for NP3 Plus on the inside and Rogard black Teflon on the outside. Robar takes forever to do work.
  20. My Benelli M4 beat an EOTech 552 to death. It turned the reticle fuzzy. Even a trip back on warranty didn't resolve it. It wasn't just my eyes either. Battery life was terrible. It would blink and say a brand new battery was dying randomly. The only good think about the EOTech was it held its resale value. When I refurbed it, they gave me a new box to sell it in. I got about 360 dollars for an optic I paid 400 for 5 years prior with a full disclosure of what I felt was wrong with it. Aimpoint T1's for me now. I had an Aimpoint CompM4 before. It was overly large and heavy. I just added the Aimpoint 3x magnifier to my MRP. Awesome setup with the t1 and the LaRue mounts.
  21. The X400 is a great package. I have two of them. How do you envision mounting it to your M4? The only drawback of the X400 is the design of the selector switch. The switch rocks in a 180 degree semi circle along the bottom of the unit. From Off - Light Only - Light & Laser - Laser Only - Off the best setting to use is for both. The trouble is, that switch can be bumped. I've had it happen on my pistol several times. You end up with light or laser only. Not good. So I'm looking to modify the switch to be much harder to switch. If this unit was mounted on the side of a shotgun, that little switch will be easy to bump. The only 720 I'd consider is the 350 lumen death ray. You don't need night vision on a home defense weapon. It'll likely hang you in court if you shot someone in the dark with it. Mounting a night vision device on a Benelli M4 would be troublesome. I wouldn't trust the top rail to mount such a heavy device on it. Then you run into eye relief issues and firing off a 12 gauge. The light output of the x300/x400 is now 170 lumens. A m600 Scout Light is 200 lumens. Base your choice off of how you intend to mount and activate the unit.
  22. I fondled the Raid series 720's at SHOT this year. There are three models to be released. Honestly, I wouldn't expect to see them for quite some time. Quoted price was around 650+. Not cheap at all. If you're going to spend big money on night vision equipment, go FLIR. We use them at work. A guy can have his trucks high beams pointed at you, and all you see is the hot spot of the lamps. No image bloom. Shadowing isn't an issue with FLIR either. We use them in vast desert environments. You can overlook a quarter mile of terrain and it looks like a plain as day image. Vehicles, people and warm blooded animals glow. No IR or visible lasers needed. No IR or even visible light devices needed. The units see through dust and fog great. They emit nothing. They work during the day as well. Oh how I wish I had one on my MRP personal rifle.
  23. No go. He spent all his wizard gold on hookers and blow. His loss.
  24. Hmm, might know a guy interested in this, assuming he has the bread. I'll let you know later today. That mount is toast. Unless you reverse it. I like it reversed on the Benelli M4, then you don't have the throw lever poking out over the charging handle. The low mount won't work on an AR anyway.
  25. The rear mount sucks. It limits your ability to pull the stock into your shoulder pocket. Currently, I've tied my stock off to the front strap of my ammo carrier to give me more room. When the Mesa stock is released, I'm going to get a padded VCAS for my tan M4. I have an OD green one tied off with paracord until the stock is released. Stay away from single points on an 18.5" barrel. They are a pendulum of pain.
