  1. You need snap ring pliers to remove the retaining ring. Once that is done, the sling loop will slide off the front over the end of the magazine tube. Re-index it to the desired position, then reinstall the snap ring. Snap ring pliers are pretty cheap and an invaluable tool to have.
  2. Yes, it can be fired without the stock, but I wouldn't recommend it. The nut you see inside the stock is what the receiver extension threads into. The factory sling mounts cannot be removed, so I haven't any idea why they're sending you inside the stock.
  3. For the rubber butt pad, it's kind of like anal sex, you don't think it will fit in there... but it does. I can't see a reason for you needing to remove the butt pad. You should just unscrew the stock from the receiver, slip the sling mount up the receiver extension, then screw the stock back into place.
  4. Kip, What about making a rail that made use of the five mounting holes on the rear sight as well as the 5 holes in the top of the receiver? The rear sight sits on a portion of the receiver that is significantly thicker than the portion that the rail assembly is attached to. It also benefits due to the fact that two of the screws are threaded into the rear sight housing rather than just into the aluminum receiver. Profile the rail in the rear to accept the factory rear sight. Supply new screws that are slightly longer to make up the difference in the rail portion. Supply a replacement front sight and front sight hood that make up the difference for the raised height of the rear sight. Generally, this would only be raised approximately .2" or so. The factory front sight doesn't have enough thread on it to adapt to a .2" rise. You had mentioned in another post that you were thinking about making a replacement set of combat sights anyway. Tritium is nice, but the Meprolight offering is lacking during daylight hours due to the lack of a white ring around the lamps.
  5. Here are the most recent production models. The tan model will have tan pistol grips and butt pads on the production model. Unless a limbsaver is ordered, then it will be black. The cheek riser model is slated to be release down the road.
  6. Nice, I'd have one if my CLEO wasn't such a douche. Don't care to go the Corporation route. Might consider the trust route. Get Kip on the ball to make you a shorty mag tube. Order now, and you might have it for Christmas.
  7. What is a 11722 entail? Is that just a 14" variant?
  8. GTSC, Your chokes list that they are for short, mid and long range. What do you consider these distances to be? What kind of reduction in recoil are your chokes capable of reducing? 25%? 50%?
  9. Surefire Scout m600c on a Sidearmor rail system. Activation switch routed to pistol grip.

    good wood

Pic's on the wall are taken by M1014's high end SLR camera. At least put some good ammo in it for the photos!
  11. The m1024's have 2 port barrels. No removable chokes. For that price point, get the 11707. They've had many inline upgrades over the years. The newer models are overall a better weapon. The m1014 would have to be unfired or much healer for me to consider it. Considering the valuable collapsible stock had been parted out, you're not getting much of a collectors item.
  12. Did they start knocking the edges off of the shell carrier so they don't cut into the plastic hulls?
  13. The factory rail comes off very easily. Just make sure you use a proper flat head. Screw driver.
  14. I'd get this offset mount instead: http://www.gearsector.com/view/product/221/
  15. I haven't tried this, but take a look at this offset mount. I had bought the M80 as well, then returned it and went with the SideArmor offering. The factory forearm is a **** of a lot more comfortable.
  16. Good price on the X400. My issues with the m80 was where you are forced to mount the light. It doesn't leave a lot of room for hand placement. I'd buy an offset rail that would allow you to attach the light at the 1:30 or 10:30 position. The problem with a bottom mount is how large the x400 is with that tail cap assembly is the overall size. Expect half o the rail to be consumed. You end up with an uncomfortable forearm.
  17. Sidearmors rails are nice. Even their center cut units won't tear up a LaRue mount. I checked mine again yesterday after putting 150 rounds of high brass bird shot through it after a pistol class. I'm up to about 1500 rounds since adding the Aimpoint t1. Not a single mark on the recoil lug.
  18. From their forum, it indicates that you're simply placing a pre-order and securing a place in line.
  19. Benelli restarted the rebate program until the beginning of 2011. Just picked up another M4 for one of my employees for 1300 bones after rebate.
  20. See the knob on the front left side? Loosen it and remove the magazine cap. The barrel then pulls free. It's tool free. The only negative is the weight. Removal of the factory top rail will cut an ounce. Add a to tube to cut 5 ounces. This will reduce the weight penalty. The shell carrier is the best design. However, the weight of the added shells is steep. Whatever you plan on mounting, select lighter items. Ounces add into pounds very quickly.
  21. So, where's my bolt handle?
  22. You'll be lucky to see them of the end of the month. The mold wasn't properly made. You might see some of the models list next month. Over at their forum on the Mesa site has some additional information on the project.
  23. Invest in one of Kips magazine tubes. You'll cut 5 ounces of weight right there. You desperately need to reduce weight wherever possible. I'd like to try a Surefire M80 with a Magpul AFG.
  24. Wait until you see what Brownells charges for that o-ring. That price is for one o-ring, not two. Take one of the o-rings off and go to a good hardware store. Match it up and get them for a dime each. Do not try to upgrade the o-rings to quadro seal type o-rings, it won't fit.
