  1. Just received one of Scalarworks Low Drag mounts for the Aimpoint T1, absolute co-witness to replace a LaRue absolute co-witness mount without a throw lever. I compared the weight difference between the two, and the Scalarworks unit is 1.1 ounces lighter than the LaRue. The mount is really nice. It has a larger mounting footprint than the LaRue does. Basically the entire base of the mount is attached to the ratcheting knob. It's a nice edition to my lightweight build.
  2. Sorry to hear of your problems. A malfunctioning brand new gun is a miserable situation. Could you describe how you are lubricating your trigger pack? What brand of lubricant and so on. I might even even try to create the problems by putting the trigger pack in the freezer and test how the hammer is falling. Some lubricants thicken up when it's cold. So they rob your hammer of its falling energy. Personally i I do not run much lubricant on the trigger packs. I use grease on the sear contact points and maybe one drop around where the elevator linkage attaches to the trigger pack itself. Oh, and that same grease on the safety detent plunger. Maid minimize the lubricant on the firing pin/spring as well. The he only other potential issue is the round isn't fully chambered when the hammer falls.
  3. You have to run it discreet. Don't expect any protections. Might as well be a gifting option and save yourself the fees.
  4. Buy with confidence. I've purchased from him before and everything was handled professionally and quickly.
  5. Thanks for the info. I will pass the info along to the owner to see if he wants to pursue it.
  6. We were doing an installation of the Scalarworks rail with a Trijicon RMR 06 on Thursday for a client with a M1014 model M4. We torqued the screws to the factory spec 18 inch pounds. When we went to install the barrel, the second from the rear fastener was extending into the receiver and preventing the barrel from seating freely. We apply Loctite primer to both the threads on the receiver and the fastener. Then Loctite 243 to the fastener's threads. We ended up using one of the factory washers on that fastener to allow the proper torque applied. Not a big deal really. Just an anomaly. Is this something you've encountered before?
  7. The collapsible stock is awesome with a custom Limbsaver installation. Realistic 40% reduction in perceived recoil. I've put together about a dozen of them for members on this board.
  8. You're teasing a hungry room of bears. I have several clients scrambling to buy a mount lately. 2000 lumen huh? I'd gladly like to give that a run to see how it compares to a Surefire KE2-A 500 lumen model.
  9. Agreed with black_dog. The mag tube swaps are really easy. I had a guy bring his over to my shop a month or so ago for the swap since he refused to try. He had to drive like 2 and a half hours. When he got here, I made him do the work with the heatgun, and we unscrewed it in like 5 - 8 minutes. He was like, "That's it??!" Changing your own oil is a 100x harder than this job. The heatgun is cheap and you can't really hurt anything with it. I will say the newer M4's have thread locker that is a little tougher to break. It just takes longer and would probably suck if you didn't have a vice. Your rounds should work fine, I would also break it in first with some cheap high brass rounds like #4 birdshot. Or that Remington buckshot Walmart sells.
  10. You'll need your 922® components anyway. Most get a full length mag tube, a follower and a hammer.
  11. Violence and cussing solves the problem as usual!
  12. Can't wait to see the new mod in production. All of my past complaints have been addressed.
  13. Buy with confidence. I received my stock set and FFT trigger pack, everything was exactly as described. Thanks again, Stev
  14. Buy with confidence. I received my stock set and FFT trigger pack, everything was exactly as described. I would have texted you, but I figured it was too late. Thanks again, Stev
  15. You're lucky to have a carriercomp charging handle. They're probably worth their weight in gold. Someone offered me 500 dollars for mine a few years back. You'll notice an immediate difference in removing the shell carrier. Some roll their eyes and say you should do more push-ups if a pound bothers you. They don't realize it isn't about the weight, but how fast and how in control you are of the barrel swing when moving from target to target. Interesting feedback about the rmr. I never ran into that since I live in Arizona. I'd probably live with it and use the co-witnessed irons if necessary if the dog was obstructed. Absolutely get a weather seal for the battery compartment too.
  16. Get yourself a tornado brush. Leading with slugs is pretty much standard operating procedure.
  17. The M1/M2 perform better for games. They're lighter and swing from target to target faster. I'd personally lighten it up some. I'd ditch the shell carrier and move to a belt mounted shell carrier. Something like the California competition carriers. Figure that shell carrier is weighing you down an extra pound once you add all the shells into it. The belt loaders are faster once you practice with it. You're loading three or four shells in one grab depending on hand size vs. cherry picking each round and inserting it. You our already have the titanium magazine tube, so you're good to go there. My the TTI shell elevator will help some. Freedom Fighter Tactical Trigger, Freedom Fighter Tactical disconnector and a Geissele Hammer will improve your trigger feel. I'd avoid modifying the pull weight beyond that on a shotgun. Using a quality grease like Brian Enos' slide glide on the seat contact points will improve the feel some. Further mods you can do is porting the magazine well and dehorning the edges. I've done this on a few M4's, and it comes out nice if you do it by hand and take your time. I hate doing them since I have OCD and spend 5 or 6 hours on them taking the polish down to 2000 grit. Some me opt to modify the shell stop so it is easier to load shells past the gate. Many enlarge the notch tabs on each side so the metal bends a little easier. People polish them on a wheel with flitz to help slide the shells past the gate. Shaving more weight, you could switch the Aimpoint out for a Trijicon RMR Scalarworks combo. I personally like the RMR's better than the Aimpoint T1's for this application. Aimpoint packages weigh quite a bit more than a RMR/Scalarworks. If you want to keep the Aimpoint, look into getting the MI mount that was just released. Oversized controls can be good. I like the DMW oversized safety with a lightened spring weight so you can disengage it with your trigger finger without breaking your firing grip. GG&G oversized bolt releases are nice. The only oversized bolt handle I like is the near mythical carriercomp 1/2" hybrid titanium/steel unit. Limbsaver buttpads are worth looking at. Price wise, they're the best modification you can do to increase speed and comfort. I'd estimate real world reduction in perceived recoil to be 40%. My concern was it would increase the dwell time and slow the action. Slow motion video I shot showed this not to be the case. How is you run your sling is important. I personally use BlueForceGear 221 padded QD slings. I connect to an Ava Tactical light/sling mount up front on the left side and to an IWC MOE mount to my collapsible stock on the right side (ejection port side) (I shoot right handed.) The rear point is important so that the sling doesn't bunch up in your shoulder pocket and prevent you from getting a good solid shouldering. Since the sling wraps around to the opposite side, it helps stabilize the weapon when slung hands free. It keeps the receiver from wanting to roll away from your body. Further down the rabbit hole are NP3+ coating options. Either doing select parts of the entire weapon will smooth out the action. This will increase your speed some and you'll be able to stay on target more consistently. It's hard to describe, but the action feels less jerky through the shot cycle. Like instead of the bolt hitting the hammer and meeting resistance, it's super smooth and cycles to the rear in one motion. It's certainly more reliable with lower dram rounds and more forgiving to poor maintenance. Hope this helps.
  18. Same for Arizona. I lock my door for the protection of stupid people and to keep them from winning stupid prizes. I bet bet these aluminum shells are pretty thin walled, I'd be curious to see how crush resistant they are.
  19. For the price, they should come coated! I'd like to see the resizing dies needed for those monsters. Probably make grandpa's old MEC cry. I have used the Hexolite 32 Russian steel slugs. That's actually what I leave in the M4 in the house. They're made for killing pissed off brown bears. Since it's a sabot slug, the recoil is very mild. Their weight spec says it is 1.376 ounces. Moving at that speed, you'd be looking at 1925 foot pounds of muzzle energy. You're looking at the energy delivery of a 30'06 in a much larger bullet that has the potential to expand up to 3 inches.
  20. Take a look at this new offering for the M4. If I was still using Aimpoints on the M4, I'd be all over this. Retail is around 79 dollars. It says you can co-witness your iron sights through the optic. Probably a 1/3 style setup.
  21. Hi Ill take the collapsible stock and the fft fire control group for 375.00 thru Gaypal gifting. Ill send end you a text to confirm.
  22. A few small updates: 1. I'm on my way to being a Robar Authorized Dealer. So the way this works is I get a 10% discount on all work being done. What most dealers do is charge you the retail amount and pocket the discount. So all work funneled through me will have the discount given to the customer. That should mitigate the my costs for doing the prep work and reassembly. 2. I've done around a dozen Limbsaver installations now over the past couple months. Everyone has been happy with the results. The reduction in recoil on full house loads is impressive. I was testing my burnt bronze build a few weeks back with the hardest kicking ball-busting slugs I had. It knocked the perceived recoil down to around what you'd expect a full house 2 3/4 buckshot load to be. 3. I should have a clients M4 back from the coater this month that will be rather impressive. If it's metal, it'll be coated in NP3+. Including the iron sight housing, ARGO plugs, Ava Tactical light mount, Scalarworks top rail with a Nickel Boron Trijicon RMR RM01, Limbsaver stock on a collapsible stock, magazine well ported, carriercomp titanium magazine tube, night sights, TTI shell elevator, fft trigger/disconnector, Geiselle hammer, dmw safety, BlueForceGear gear padded QD 221 sling in black kryptec. It'll have a Surefire Outdoorsman light with a 500 lumen m600u. Every pin and screw will be coated except for the tiny pins like the disconnector pin.
  23. Agreed on the weak design. When removing my own or clients' GG&G bolt releases, I hold the pad with a wrench to prevent it from spinning the barrel of the press fit post while unscrewing the fastener.
