Now your talkin'.. As for the new gun, I think it is probably that 28 ga. light weight that they are promoting on their home page.

The only way you will ever know if your particular Vinci shoots high, is to go buy one and shoot it with the loads you intend to hunt turkeys with. I know this is obvious, but I've told you that mine shoots high and BigAl33 told you that his didn't, after some pattern board work. So tonight, instead of saying I need a new gun like a hole in the head, say, I can't live without a new Vinci. It works for me. Good luck to you...

Not necessarily.. Neither all men, nor all guns are created equal. There are a lot of factors that go into this assumption. If it happens to shoot where you point, great. That's the way it is supposed to work. If it does not, and this does happen in the real world, then the proper adjustments need to be made. I am glad for you that your gun shot to your POI. Mine did not. A few minor fixes and I was in business. I agree totally that a pattern board is needed, but a shotgun that shoots high is indeed a shotgun that shoots high. All my shotguns have to shoot to the same POI. You do not have enough time, after a flush, to figure out which gun you are carrying, and where you need to aim in order to kill the bird. Good luck with your Vinci. I love mine... __________________

I agree 100% on the gun mounting. You have to be consistent in the process. Every time, the same way. That is why it is so important that the gun shoots where you are pointing. You can't have one gun shoot high and the rest shoot dead nuts. Using the gun for turkey, simplifies the problem because of the ability to put sights, of some sort on the gun. They are an option, and there is something magical about putting a red dot on a gobbler's noggin', and pulling the trigger. Can't wait.. Good luck as well...

I have had a Vinci for around 6 months. Mine shot 10'' high at 20 yds. Not all shotguns shoot to POA, period! Otherwise there would be no need for a pattern board. They would all shoot where they were pointed. I shimmed mine to the max. It helped, but it still shot high. Put a Easy hit Hit sight on it (to raise the front sight), it now shoots where I point it. I have an SBE l that shot 12'' low and 10'' to the right. (This is my dedicated turkey gun. I put an Aimpoint on it so it is a moot point). I have an SBE ll that shot 16" high. That one went back to Benelli and C.S. fixed it and it came back dead nuts. The rest of my fleet shot perfect. Not all Benellis will do this. You need to pattern them all. Generally, you can remedy the problem through shimming and bead changing, but not always. I have been shooting for over 40 years. Rest assured, I know how to mount and aim a shotgun. Other than my POI issue, The Vinci is a great shotgun. Do not hesitate to buy one. I love mine. Good luck, and don't let the POI thing scare you. It will probably be fine. Let us know how it works out for you... Mike

That's interesting!! I honestly did not know that. Thanks Tucker...Mike

The ''C'' shim is the thickest on the Vinci. I checked mine out and that's what I came up with. My Vinci also shot high with the ''B'' shim in place. The ''C'' shim lowered the POI substantially. Good luck...

Which ever one is the thickest. Without looking at mine, I don't know the letter of the thickest shim. This will also lower your POI. Good luck..

I feel your pain. There is nothing worse than seeing rust on a gun. As Tucker stated, steel is steel, and moisture makes rust, period. Keep them clean, keep them oiled, and check them often. Never, ever store a gun in a gun case. They will last you a lifetime and then some if properly maintained. Good luck with the Cust. Service. They may suprise you in a good way...

I've got the wife knitting one as we speak.

I've used a Hastings .660 ported choke with great results for years. I bought a .640 to try , figuring that tighter is better. It was non ported. I also shoot Win. Hi-Velocity #6's. It actually produced an inconsistant pattern that was not as tight as the .660. So to make a long story short, that set up did not work for me. Been there, done that, got the Tee Shirt. It also advised not to shoot anything bigger than #6's out of the .640. Good luck...

I agree with all McDaddy has to say..Good advice. Keep them oiled and they will perform. I do detect a little ''Texas Drawl'' in his words. Here in Wisconsin, a ''21 degree drizzle'' is a snowstorm. Sorry McDaddy, I couldn't resist.... Mike

Each to his own. I really have no desire for an M4. It also would have to be given to me. That's the nice thing about collecting, you buy what you like, he buys what he likes, and you really don't have to meet anybody in the middle.
-
I have not seen the 3.5mm. If you buy the 3mm and need a little more, you always have the option to go to the bigger one. Good luck...

That gun will give you some beautiful wood..

Actually, it is a red sight, not orange.
-
I went with the orange, 5'' Easy hit. One quick bit of advice. Put the Easy Hit on the rib, and then tape it there with some black electrical tape. Then shoot the gun. If it works for you, then glue it on as directed. the sight won't be wrecked if you don't like it. With the thickest shim and the addition of the Easy Hit, your POI will be lowered. Make sure that you buy the 3mm sight, not the 2.5mm. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. Also,I believe that you can edit the Warrior thing...Mike

What part of the planet are you from? Or better yet, What planet are you from?
-
That would be my job!! It takes a lot of rubbing and caressing. It can really be a quite a task, but I am up to it...
-
Glad you finally got it where you want it. I agree with your POI issues. Good luck with the making of the new shim. Mike

It is actually a little less than 1/4".

I got an email from Benelli and they said it weighed less than 5 lbs. and was of a gauge that most sportsman would find a delight to shoot. One would have to assume that it is a 28 ga. I don't believe that they would put a ''28'' on the receiver if it was a .410 or a 20.

Check out the intro on the Benelli website.. Looks like a 28 with tats.
