  1. The newer Benelli M4 has the tube. It's the recoil tube. You can see it if you disassemble the gun and unscrew the stock. Then you would screw on the new pistol grip and attach the collapsible stock.
  2. Most important things for a Benelli M4 to cycle light ammo in my experience and what I've seen on these boards. 1. Lube action generously. 2. Keep the stock securely seated when shooting. (not sure if this is true since the M4 is supposed to cycle from the gas piston system, but one person I've shot with couldn't get it to cycle properly occasionally, where I had no problems on the same outing. 3. Lube action generously. 4. It might need a break in period. (preferably with heavier ammo) 5. Lube action generously. There is a big difference in most Benelli shotguns and the Benelli M4. The military didn't want to depend on inertia for cycling the loads, so they insisted that the shotgun have a gas system. That's why many say you can't hang a bunch of accessories on an Benelli M2 and other shotguns in their semi-auto line and expect it to cycle correctly.
  3. Going shotgun shooting tomorrow morning with a group to try out the good advice you guys gave. I'm sure that I'll get appreciative looks at my M4, but I'm also sure I'll be at a bit of a disadvantage because of the gun. Maybe I'll get the feel of it quick.
  4. The ultimate tactical shotgun for Benelli is the M4. I got mine for 1500 even after tax. You'd have to shop around to get that price but I've seen them for as low as 1400 plus shipping and FFL fee. Price may have gone up since then though. And tactical almost always means black, but camo is cool too. By the way, your boyfriend is a lucky SOB. Most girlfriends/wives would complain about the gun and here you are getting it for him. You get Best Girlfriend in the World prize in my book!
  5. I'm going to go shooting soon and have always had problems hitting clay pigeons on the fly. I use a Benelli M4, which I know is not great for shooting clays, but it's the only shotgun I've got. It has ghost ring sights. I'd like some tips on how to stop missing so much. I currently only have a plastic hand thrower to chuck the clays. Would it be a huge benefit to buy a mechanical thrower? Any beginner tips would be appreciated.
  6. Atrox, you're a man after my own heart. I love the SCAR 17s and can't wait until I get one. Until I do, I'm watching every video and reading every article on it I can find. I've even stooped so low as to watch a few airsoft clone videos. I'm thinking about getting the black one, but the classic flat dark earth one is pretty choice as well. Accurate, lightest felt recoil of any .308, and will eat any ammo without fail. Sounds like a winner to me! Love the folding stock for backpacking and storage. I just can't say enough about this rifle. I'm as excited about this rifle as I was with my Benelli M4. I hope I'll be as satisfied with it as I was with the Benelli.
  7. The best thing to have in a bad situation is a firearm that goes bang. Pump and semi auto is up to the user, but in the big picture it really doesn't matter that much. One well placed shot usually fixes most situations. Disparaging someone because they do or don't like to trick out their guns should be beneath us. If you can still aim it and pull the trigger, it's all good. I myself have been hesitant to buy shell carriers because of the cost of some of the systems and because of the weight of some of the ones I've looked at. I've nearly decided to buy a shell carrier that fits on Molle webbing to go on my Molle vest for when I go shooting with friends. It's pretty cool but it would be embarrassing at the same time and I figure that's the mall ninja coming through loud and proud, but I could care less. If it works, it works. Mall ninjas going crazy with the vest shell carrier I want: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxN_r-Lk_RU
  8. If you had to choose 3 guns to take into battle or to use in a survival/apocalypse situation, which would you choose? I'm mostly talking about rifle, shotgun and sidearm. If you're gonna add a .22lr rifle for survival (a good idea), assume that your best friend/companion is with you and has that covered. For me it's: FNH Scar 17s w/ scope. (don't have it ... yet) Benelli M4 w/ collapsible stock and full length magazine tube. (got it) Springfield Armory XDM .40 (got it)
  9. Probably should be http://www.armslist.com/ Looked at them for Utah and it had nearly nothing because KSL Classifieds rules my state's private gun sales.
  10. Yes, those half moon and 1/3 moon revolver bullet holders would be considered clips. The old timers are right with that terminology as the clip wasn't a stripper clip, but stayed in the magazine. Then the clip would get ejected after the last bullet was fired.
  11. Magazines are places where bullets are kept in the gun before using, sometimes in a replaceable container. A clip (also sometimes known as a stripper clip) is a strip of metal bent so that it will hold bullets of a certain caliber. For example, with an M1A, a clip would be placed above the open action in the clip guide and the bullets would be shoved into the magazine of the rifle. Here is an example of someone using a stripper clip to load a Mosin Nagant which has a non removable magazine (the bottom part).
  12. Yes they are factory Benelli. If they aren't and they're made in the US, he's sitting on a gold mine and could sell them for more (to be able to comply with 922r).
  13. The Benelli M4 front sight will need a special sized wrench - 5.5mm seems to be the consensus. You can get them for about $10 online (Amazon and some tool specialized web stores). I've heard that Sears sells them in a pack of wrenches. I didn't wait for mine and scratched the nut quite a bit and took off some of the paint. I've heard you can get a replacement for the nuts too, but I haven't bothered yet.
  14. It has a collapsible stock, the recoil tube just doesn't allow it to move. Get a three-position recoil tube and replace yours and it'll work like a champ.
  15. I would be veeerry interested if it was automatic and the gun automatically switched to the other magazine when it was empty. Crazy short shotgun + awesome capacity = Winner!
  16. Yes. Dunno, You'll have to ask them. No.
  17. Just go to http://www.benelliusa.com/. It has it there. Super Vinci with 3 1/2" capability.
  18. Thanks H&K2000, the C-stock came in this morning.
  19. Yay, I finally got one at a slightly reasonable cost! I'm one of those holdouts that have wanted a C-stock for years, but kept on saying, "I could buy a pistol with that kind of money."
  20. "My turkey call brings all the boys to the yard, my call is better than yours."
  21. Found a better explanation of the beehive. Pretty cool though. http://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/2009/10/13/the-beehive-hornets-nest-40mm-10x-22lr-adapter/
  22. Disassembly and reassembly of a Benelli M4 is a snap with no tools required. A twist here, a pull there and presto! If you're into it, look at the Benelli Vinci disassembly and reassembly speed competitions. http://www.benelliusa.com/vinci_challenge/
  23. Here's just the rail (comes with a side rail too) http://www.sidearmor.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=28_30&products_id=76 I may end up getting that and try to put a light on the side. (dunno if that'll work or not)
